Amazing food! Everything was delicious and very relaxing. Service was fast, with great local wine and an incredible panna cotta. The staff was friendly and attentive.

Google
A great spot 👌 Food is delicious, had a couple of vegeterian options. The inner garden has plenty of shadows in the hot summer days ☀️

Google
Beautiful outdoor patio. Very relaxing. The food was full of flavor. The lentils soup was delicious, full of flavor and texture 😋😋 The goulash was so so good. The portions are huge

Food was just fine, wine was great. The service was quite chaotic: we were served by three different people interchangeably as all workers were alternatingly waitering, cleaning, doing the dishes... Two women served us with a charming smile but the one male waiter seemed annoyed, bored and was smoking cigarettes indoors (!?) inbetween waitering. Our table was also not cleaned for us so it was wet and sticky. Overall a lot of kinks to work out.

Google
Great atmosphere in the outdoor area, but food was just okay. We got the hummus, ravioli, and little schnitzls. They all looked beautiful but were bland and didn't feel worth the price. The aperol spritz were great! I might go back just for a drink and the outdoor vibes...

This is undoubtedly one of the finest traditional restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of dining in. The schnitzel here is absolutely incredible. The sheer quality of the food is so captivating that you'll find yourself marveling at it even with your very last bite. The atmosphere is truly remarkable, offering a delightful and authentic ambiance, especially when seated in the garden.

Google
Good food, great atmosphere. Most of the staff members do not operate well under pressure and cross redlines in hospitality towards guests. Don’t get me wrong, but lying towards the unavailability of something or waving the hand in the face of the customer in a way that he should shut up is an absolute no no. Other guests were so pissed that they left angrily calling one of the staff in Italian with bad words. This was my second time there after a first positive experience. Bottom line, don’t go there if the place is busy. You’ll leave feeling upset

Google
Great chicken paprikash and spätzle! The Moroccan lentil stew was delicious as well. It’s hard to figure out which entrance is the “correct” one…but just go inside and seat yourselves; they have a nonsmoking room…so look for that if you enjoy clean air.

Yelp
Decided to check this place out for dinner while I was in Vienna. From where I was staying in Stephansplatz, I took the u-bahn and got off at the stop that Google maps said I should and walked the rest of the way to this place. Location-wise, it is kind of hidden but you'll recognize the outdoor courtyard area with all the plants. Make sure you ask clearly for the 'English' menu if you're a tourist like me. When I asked they came back with another menu in German and I was like 'uh...English menu?'. But the waiter apologized and came back with an English menu so it was all good! I ordered the Roast beef with potato wedges. FYI, I think roast beef translates to just steak because that's what it was. It was a seared steak with sauce on top. So if you order roast beef, don't expect the roast beef you get in America. The food was delicious and the ambiance was awesome. I could tell that this place has a lot of locals, actually, I think I was the only foreigner there. I tried my best to blend in. My only complaint is that the service is a bit slow but I hear that is typical in Austria so there is that.

Yelp
So cute! Super casual location which is beautiful inside! There aren't too many tables so if you don't have much time, be careful. Didn't try too much food here though - primarily just the drinks. Come for the ambiance though!

Yelp
We dined at this restaurant to experience traditional Austrian food and ordered Braised Organic Beef Cheeks and Styrian Salad for our dinner. Each dish had multiple plant-based ingredients in addition to meat (good for our gut biome), and the taste can certainly be characterized as very good for the reasonable price.

Eveline C.

Yelp
We ate here one night for dinner and it was good. I ordered their lentil soup and it was delicious and comforting. I know this seems a little crazy but they did not have the goulash that I wanted so I ordered pasta bolognese. It was so good that I could have been in Italy. My husband had the pork schnitzel. He felt it's not as good as the veal schnitzel at other restaurants.

Yelp
Very nice for traditional Austrian food (with a modern twist) and good wine. They have outdoor seating in a nice port decorated with plants and cozy seating. Tip: If it's raining and you still want to sit outside, don't worry! They have a shield which covers the seiling in the port! Close to Museum Quartier and Mariahilferstrase.

Yelp
Don't make my mistake. I think we were pretty much only two who stuck to the written menu. On menu, you will only find a couple of options for breakfast. We naturally ordered Viennese breakfast and Oriental one. It was so disappointing. They seem to come out of processed food canteen. Take a look at my photo... heartbreaking lol Please do ask for menu such as goulash, schnitzel and so on. They will accommodate you (we witnessed a couple next to us asking for other options than the menu since it only states three options). Good luck!

Yelp
Okay, I'm gonna share with you one of my favorite places in Vienna - the Amerling Beisl. Yes it's in Spittelberg and Spittelberg is def Bobo but this place isn't overly Bobo at all ... it's just pure chill and cool. I heard it was started like about 50 years ago when a bunch of revolutionaries took it over by staging a sit-in for a year or so and saved the building from the wrecking ball or something of a gentrified nature. Well maybe it's not quite that cutting edge today but I can still pretend that I;m a revolutionary when I go here. There's a cool program series and movie schedule to help in my delusion. Also the food is good - real good and the atmosphere is awesome - from the charming outdoor courtyard to the indoot walls covered in posters calling us mere mortals to wage war against the establishment. And you see, you get all this for a decent price - even in bobo Spittelberg. Rise up!!

Yelp
Nice atmosphere, vegan soups :) many options for vegetarians. Very good service, really nice. The only con I have is the same one I have with all places in Vienna where there are two separate places smokers/non smokers. They are not really separated, the smoke travels easily two... three meters to the non smokers tables. I think it is a pity.

Yelp
TL;DR - Beautiful setting, beautiful food. We tried to eat here on our first night in Vienna and couldn't get a table it was so popular, so we came back another night and were glad we did. Most of the seating is in the courtyard of this building, but it also spills out onto one of the neighbouring side streets. The crowd is generally quite young, but all ages had some degree of representation so we didn't feel too old. Sparky went for a tabbouleh salad which was out of this world; I went for some home made ravioli which was delicious. Service was polite and friendly and the prices were very, very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Probably my favorite Beisl in Vienna. It's beautiful, delicious, and reasonably priced; what more could you possibly ask for? Had the chicken schnitzel and that was superb, and my friend got a breakfast platter (they serve those until 3 or 4, which is nice, because they're such a good deal!). Also had Makawa iced tea (yay!), but they have weekly cocktail deals for 4,20€ or something like that. They're also open until 1 or 2am daily, making it a good place to potentially come later on in the evening for drinks. Make a reservation for dinner, they get really full.

Yelp
Enjoyed a Mittagsmenu (lunch special) here and it was delicious. Approx 10 euros for a soup & pumpkin quiche meal, which is very reasonable. I also tried their detox tea and highly recommend it. I must say that is was a bit pricey at almost 5 euros but it was so worth it. We sat in the outdoor garden and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Perfect lunch place for a sunny summer day

Yelp
The staff are so welcoming and nice, there s no English menu but they explained to m what to order, the outdoor area r really cozy and very chill prefect come during summer at evening even just have a drink. Lots ppl but no feels pressure! I order the beef, it's really heavy but good for a male. I enjoyed very much

Yelp
I was impressed by the location and the sittings of this typical Austrian restaurant. The ambiance in the backyard is so lovely, with small wooden tables, beautiful oriental parasols, trees and wine leaves around and above us! The waitresses kept smilling and were very attentive to us customers, so that we spent a nice and relaxing lunch in this beisl. The food isn't as extraordinary as the decor lol, but it remains some good and tasty Austrian food. A bit disappointed by the salad maybe, but thumbs up for the daily menu: the fish and its pumpkin sauce was simply delicious!

Yelp
Amerling Beisl is a nice restaurant with great daily/weekly specials, and good schnitzel. I had their chicken schnitzel recently (I know, not really a schnitzel), and I'd recommend just going with a "real" schnitzel rather than the chicken. Their potato salad is also good (Austrian potato salad is similar to German potato salad - vinegary). If you go in the summertime, sit outside - it's so pretty in the courtyard! You might want to make a reservation, though, because they'll get pretty full, especially on the weekends. Take note of their cocktail and drink specials, too, if you'd like one with dinner. The waitstaff speak English and will provide you with menus in English, including translations of their specials in English. This is a great restaurant to try local cuisine (including, as I said, the ever-popular Wiener Schnitzel).

Theodore Z.

Yelp
We went there after a recommendation. The place is very nice, with nice atmosphere, and an interesting yard which i guess during the summer it will be great. The staff speaks english, they are super friendly. The food was great and the potato salad divine! Oh, great morning minimal music also.

Yelp
Good food, good prices, and amazing courtyard that works in the winter as a Christmas market punsch and Gluhwien stop or a summer anytime relax with friends drop in. My experience was to avoid some rain but also get the patio feel. Success. Daily menu looks good, but I first tried a condon bleu from pig, along with a prosciutto/olive/baguette appetiser. Delicious! All in all a nice place in the spittelberg area. My only issue is it can get smokey. :/ Thus, I give it 4 stars.

Yelp
I have mixed emotions about this place and i will explain why. As a place to visit it is really nice in their court yard when the weather is nice like it was today. Rays of sunshine shining through the green roof, which gives a feeling that you have left Vienna and are somewhere in the country side. But then one takes a big deep breath of fresh air and almost chocks on the un naturally thick smoke following from all directions and one quickly remembers he is in Vienna, the land of fucking smokers. Unfortunately there are very few places outdoors where one can get fresh air in Vienna, if it is not cigarette smoke it is pollution from all the traffic. But OK apart from the lack of fresh air in a nice outdoors area, i made the HUGE mistake of ordering the Buffet Breakfast, as the sexy legged waitress told me the other breakfast in which i actually ordered is no longer available. Now everyone knows the rule for buffets, you ALWAYS go look at the buffet before ordering one, as every place has a different idea of what a buffet should be. Well as you can see i was detracted by the legs and did not look, so naturally when i when to the buffet it was disappointing, to put it polity. Lucky i had great company to keep my frustrations in order and she stopped me from speaking my mind like a try Austrian should have done. OH but wait i forgot to tell you it took forever to get the attention of the waitress to give our order and of course to pay. I estimate we spent 45 minutes extra there just waiting for service, which is debatable if it can be called service. We have a saying, once bitten twice shy, which would now apply for me with this place, i am sure i will NOT venture back there again unless i somehow forget the unpleasent experence of today.

Yelp
Super cute atmosphere. Loved the outdoor patio! Staff was friendly and more than happy to make great recommendations when my friend and I ask for the their best local, traditional Viennese options. The schnitzel and dumplings are a must try. Was not a fan of the smoking inside but that is just how it is in Europe I guess ‍
google avatar

Yelp
The courtyard was gemütlich, the schnitzel was crispy and delicious, the staff friendly and helpful. Will definitely come here again.

Yelp
Stopped for coffee and a light meal and sat in the garden area outside. Beautiful setting and really nice ambiance for light drinks and happy hour

Tro L.

Yelp
A friendly advice : go for the Spinatspätzle ! The Rindsgulasch was great too Really nice setting, especially in the courtyard, with vines running on the walls.

Yelp
Came here with my husband for dinner while visiting Vienna. Place was busy which is a good sign. Enclosed courtyard to eat in had a real nice ambience. You could dress up or go casual. I had the roasted pork special and my husband had the schnitzel. All was very good, but especially the roasted pork special. They have cheap drink specials on the weekend too which was nice for enjoying after dinner and watching the european soccer matches.

Yelp
I was there three times and everytime it was great. Good food and amazing enviroment, especially outside in the summer. I can highly reccomend it!

Yelp
Amerling is one of my favorite places in Vienna! The food is extraordinary good and the prices are average! The service is young (mostly students) but nice. Its always crowded but thats makes the ambience busy in a good way. I personally prefere the inner yard over sitting inside. In the yard you have a really nice wine bine with lights above the sitting place, which makes it somehow romantic at night. In the winter the amerlinge serves the best ginger apricot punsch you can get at spittelberg!

Yelp
Good Schnitzel and service. It suddenly started raining, but the garden can be covered so the situation was in full control. Good atmosphere for a casual evening.

Yelp
Great weekly specials and secluded. Food tastes great and the atmosphere very unique in Vienna. Would blindly recommend to anyone

Yelp
Can i give a zero rating? HORRIBLE HORRIBLE AWFUL RUDE ESTABLISHMENNT. Our waiter was unbelievably rude! We are finishing a trip from London, Paris, Munich, Salzburg and Vienna. The waiter here was by far the most rude we have encountered. He was angry that we asked for English menu and explanation of daily special. Was angry when we asked for wine and if they had wifi. Was angey about everyting. He made my wife cry! She asked him to please be nice. A couple of Viennese natives sitting beside us told us we were right, that the waiter was inexplicably rude! When we left, we spoke to the manager, who seemed to stick up for the waiter. We are not sure why they felt so justified in being horrible to us. But,would recommend, if you are from USA, DO NOT GO HERE AS THEY ARE EXTREMELY UNFRIENDLY AND RUDE!

Yelp
First night in Vienna and we stumbled into this courtyard restaurant with a cool history and tasty food. After two drinks, the food was even better. What we ordered: satisfying lentil soup, Vienna sausages with strong mustard, tagliatelle with sun-dried tomatoes and their classic chocolate cake topped with ground hazelnut with a side of whipped cream. Ka-ching!!
google avatar

Greg W.

Yelp
Great service. Spacious courtyard seating with plenty of shade (it was in the 90s today). The three different breakfast plates we had made each of us smile. Fresh squeezed orange juice, and eggs with deep orange yolks (fresh). Our attentive server even suggested we offer her a lower tip than the one we proposed. Though our stay is short, we've been there twice.

Greg H.

Yelp
Go if you want to kill 2 hours over lunch. I know Vienna is laid back but seriously slow service.

Yelp
The Amerlingsbeisl is especially around christmas a must-go in Vienna. You can zip a cup of ginger-apricot punch in its canopied atrium with fairy lights for stars. Very romantic!! The whole area of the Spittelberg is dedicated to a very popular Christmas Market, so sometimes its really cramped.

Yelp
Great bar restaurant. Lovely atmosphere. Lots of university folk. Good food. Good beer. Great prices. Brilliant. My favourite meal out in Vienna so far!

suz h.

Yelp
Lovely setting. Excellent beer. Decent food. Very smoky. I would go back for drinks and a snack, but dinner I'd save for elsewhere.

Kathi P.

Yelp
Relaxed, hip, typical and urban Viennese atmosphere, good food. Love their garden in summer and during christmas time

Ramsey K.

Yelp
The service was sub-par, and the food was overall mediocre. Not a bad restaurant, and I can see why others like it, but it's not for me. The schnitzel is also rather sub-par

Yelp
good local feel bar. nice outdoor area like many have said spoiled a bit by smokers. food was good when i was there will try it again. free wi-fi is a plus...
