AMERON Zurich Bellerive au Lac (Zurich, Canton of Zurich) 4 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The Köln-based Althoff hotel group is responsible for the Ameron brand, a collection of stylish-yet-sensible high-end boutique hotels across Germany and Switzerland. And in the Ameron Zürich Bellerive au Lac they’re responsible for one of the most finely balanced boutique hotels in town. Neither a member of the conservative old guard nor a flamboyant ultra-modern design experiment, this hotel provides the sort of backdrop that just about any traveler can appreciate: stylish Art Deco-accented interiors, up-to-date traveler-friendly services and comforts, and a glamorous restaurant and lounge set right on the shores of the lake." - Tablet Hotels

Our family of 5 stayed the at Ameron Du Lac Zurich for 3 nights. We did not upgrade to the lake view rooms, views would have been pretty but we weren’t in our rooms very much. The hotel was very clean, beds were comfortable, the gym was easy to use, and it was very quiet. ||We had to get a separate room for our kids (age 6 and 3) but they were able to put the kids’ room next to ours so we could close off the main door and keep the room doors open and connected, it helped so much at night or when the kids woke up in the morning. The staff were very nice and helpful and even surprised us with a dessert for our child’s 3rd birthday!||The breakfast buffet was good with lots of variety - especially good breads, fruit, and fun sweets, we enjoyed it and our kids loved it every morning. My partner and I went to the bar for drinks/appetizers and the service and food were good. Other than breakfast we did not eat in the restaurant. ||It’s a little bit of a walk/train ride from the Old Town, but it’s close to the train stops and the lakefront location more than made up for it. The hotel is right across the street from lake Zurich and there is a walking/running path, parks and 2 big playgrounds within walking distance of the hotel right off the lake. There are a couple casual places to grab snacks, drinks, and ice cream along the pathway. It’s about a 30min train ride to the zoo and across the lake from the FIFA museum. ||Overall, a very comfortable hotel that we’d happily stay at again.

I would like to thank the hotel management for the kind upgrade as a gift for our wedding anniversary – it was a thoughtful gesture and truly appreciated. The location is excellent, close to the city center and the lake, and the reception staff were very professional and welcoming. However, a few points could be improved: • The ongoing construction in front of the building was quite noisy and affected the overall comfort. • Breakfast was below expectations and could be enhanced with more variety and quality. • Only one bottle of water is provided in the room, which feels limited for guests. • The TV system did not allow us to use Netflix, which was inconvenient. Overall, I feel the hotel is more suitable for business travelers than for leisure and tourism. With some improvements, it could offer a much better experience.

Beautiful hotel on the lake! the location was perfect - walking distance to the walking paths around the lake and to many restaurants and shops in the area. The breakfast was outstanding! wonderful selection and the restaurant itself was very inviting and beautifully designed. |I would like to give special thanks to all the front desk staff who were always helpful and even gave us an amazing upgrade to our room when we returned for the second part of our trip. We were given the junior suite lake view - we seriously didn't want to leave - it was perfect!|Also, thanks to the lovely bellboy - he was always quick to help with anything we needed, absolutely wonderful service all around! |We will definitely return on our next trip to Zurich!

My wife and I visited Zurich to attend the Diamond League Athletics finals. The Ameron was the perfect base for our short trip. We had a beautiful lake view room with modern decor, great facilities and a really comfy bed. Breakfast was a little repetitive, but very good all the same. All the staff we interacted with were happy, helpful and very friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel

We had a wonderful stay at this charming boutique hotel! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The breakfast, while not overly extensive, was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Our room was beautifully decorated, clean, and fully equipped with all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. The location is a highlight — right in front of the lake, offering a peaceful and scenic atmosphere. It’s just a pleasant 20-minute walk to Bahnhofstrasse and around 26 minutes to Zürich HB, making it convenient yet calm. Definitely coming back — highly recommended for a cozy, stylish, and well-located stay in Zurich!

We loved every minute at this perfectly located hotel. Just a quick walk past the Opera house to the old town, with great Zurich shopping nearby. The hotel itself is modern but warm and has delightful amenities, books, cozy nooks and a great bar and breakfast dining room. The bed was one of the best we had during our extended trip to Europe this summer. Special shout out to Christian at the bar and breakfast who was so kind and helpful to us - a photographer extraordinaire! The kind and helpful staff makes it great!|Caroline & Steve

Google
Great location, close to Zurich old town and right across the lake. It does get s bit loud, if you have a street facing room, but the view of the lake is great. The service is very good and the rooms are beautiful. One caveat is the cooling system, which was not able to cope with the heatwave in Europe. The property may want to overhaul it since it looks like s very old central AC system.

Yelp
We stayed at this hotel for three days and the lack of air conditioning when it was hot and humid, made it very restless for sleeping. The location wasn't bad if you wanted to take the tram to other areas of the city. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful especially when hooking up to the Internet.

Yelp
My wife and I just completed a stay at the Steigenberger Bellerive au Lac Hotel in Zurich! With some History of our trip you will understand our "rather negative attitude" staying at this Hotel. We made our reservation, some 6 months prior, through our Travel Agent, in Lincoln, California. We chose the Pay Now Price, which allows no cancellation, for two nights stay, checking in April 8th, and out April 10th. Our trip was to start with the Viking Ocean Cruise Ship SKY on March 27th, 2019. However, I am sure most folks watched TV News regarding the Viking SKY ship being stranded off the Coast of Norway, on Saturday, March 23rd with people being taken off the ship by Helicopter. Within a few hours we got notified by Viking that our upcoming trip on the SKY ship had been cancelled. Panicked, we contacted our Travel Agent, to see what to do, as we knew our "stop over" in Switzerland was mostly non-refundable! Swiss Air from Copenhagen to Zurich Airport, two night stay at the Raddison Blu in Luzerne, then Two nights say at the Steigenberger in Zurich. Our travel agent came up with a "last minute" plan to take a Viking River Cruise from Amsterdam to Basel, Switzerland. Thus we would be able to continue the Stop over in Switzerland! However, that would put us in Switzerland ONE-DAY LATE! Meaning we would have to push out or stay by one day at each Hotel. The Raddison Blu in Luzerne, gave us NO problem with this, no extra charges. However, the Steigenberger was not as KIND! We had to keep our Original Reservation, then pay additionally for one extra night! (basically stay for two nights, pay for three). After all, we were NOT asking to Cancel, nor get any monies back, just move out the Reservation by ONE DAY! Thus our Feelings for this Trip began to change! We were only taking this whole trip to Celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary. Plus the cost for the extra one night, cost more then the two nights individually. In other words, our original cost was $504.16 USD for two nights, or $252.08 USD per night. The addition cost they required for the one extra night was $294.56 USD. This only furthered the INSULT! Our travel agent said she tried couple of times to get the reservation just moved out the one day, but they would not concur! We value Rules, but sometimes exceptions can be made! When we checked in on April 9th, 2019, there was some confusion regarding how many nights stay, etc, since we basically had two Reservations..............but we got that straightened out! When the nice young man gave us our Key he said, "your room number has been changed". Instead of getting the City View, we PAID FOR, we got a room with an Office Building across the road from us, which caused us to keep our curtains closed most of the time! The room changed from 401 to 314, as noted on the Folder with the Keys! This tells me that Steigenberger re-rented the room we paid for, hence double dipping, which I believe in the US may be illegal. Never again!!!

Yelp
We stayed two nights and didn't have any major problems. The staff was friendly and helpful. Great location to get the tram. We had the two level suite. It was good. Functional. We would have liked complimentary water bottles though. Our view was lovely. The AC didn't work to its fullest for us.

Yelp
We stayed at the Steigenberger for two nights. We booked this hotel because it has 4 stars, but when we arrived, we were frustrated and confused as to how this hotel gets its ratings. Here are the things that we disliked: 1. We booked a room with Zurich Card. At the check in desk, they were surprised about the Zurich card...we had to come back later to pick it up. The staff is not on top of the bookings - we don't need to remind a 4 star hotel what we paid for. 2. Rooms are very old and simple. The heating is poor. It was below 20F outside and the room was really chilly. 3. These days a 4 star hotel offers a tiny TV (almost a mini size). We stayed in many hotels around the world and even starless hotels had bigger TVs. 4. Bed was very uncomfortable (very hard mattress) What we liked - the view from the balcony on Zurich Lake.

Yelp
I actually never got to stay in the hotel itself, I made a mistake on the dates I booked Feb 1st-Feb 4th and what I actually wanted was March 1st March 4th. I never knew I made the mistake until I received an email from Hotels.com asking me how my stay was. I called Hotels.com they told me the mistake I had made and they actually called the hotel for me to see if they could workout the correct dates and try to use the money I had already paid. The Steigenberger would do nothing. So I tried calling them, still nothing all they would tell me was that I did not cancel the reservation and they would be keeping my money. I asked them if I could pay an upgrade fee of some sort so I did not want to loose all the money on this and still have to book another hotel room. They said they would have someone get back to me from the booking department. Never heard from them, so I called back and they said I was actually supposed to call them. I asked to speak to a manager they said there was no manager on duty, call back tomorrow. I have traveled all over the world and stayed in lots of hotels expense and cheap and never have I been treated with such disrespect. So I guess in the end be sure you have the right dates and don't make a mistake or it will cost you. Terrible hotel staff and I would not recommend staying here. Thank you Hotels.com for trying to work this out with the Steigenberger, I will continue to recommend you to my friends and family.
