Amilla Fushi

"Set the scene for us: Where is this place, and what's the vibe? With amazing Beverly Hills-like villas, this is a deeply ambitious hotel full of big-hitters. Then you land and you can’t quite believe the water is that clear, or the sand is that white, and apart from the smart wooden overwater villas curling around to the left of the jetty, it seems like there are hardly any structures here at all. The ones that are here are all-white, clean-lined, and minimalist—the opposite of the palm-roofed tropical cliché. That sounds divine. Is there a story behind it all? It’s part of the Small Maldives Islands Company, which means it’s the opposite of a big global brand. Cara Delevingne has spent New Year's here. Got it! What can we expect from our room?My overwater villa opened right onto the lagoon (as blue as a blue curaçao-laced cocktail), where manta rays swim right past in the shallows. There’s an infinity pool for prime sunset views, and the color scheme reflects the watery setting with navy-blue striped cushions, turquoise mosaic tiles in the huge bathrooms, and sailor’s rope repurposed as a light shade. That description alone is relaxing. How about the food and drink? There’s a clever mix of restaurants, so you can be as low-key or as dressed-up as you like: wood-fired pizza for poolside lunches; Asian-spiced Wok for dim sum and noodles; fish and chips. The standout is Koi, the candelit Japanese restaurant at the end of the jetty where you should request a table right by the water. The sushi and sashimi are delicious. Afterwards, head upstairs for cocktails at the Oak Lounge. The island is all-inclusive. Perfect—we love options. Anything to say about the service? The yoga teacher Kelzang Dorji from Bhutan, dressed all in white, has the gentlest spirit—but he makes you work. There’s a dive center at the end of the island’s jetty, and your personal butler will whizz over snorkeling gear that’s yours for the length of your stay. What about the other guests? What sort of person comes here?Expat British families with teenagers who can’t get enough of all the water sports, young Parisian couples wearing French linen everything, and body-beautiful Australians whose base is Byron Bay. Alright. And if you zoom out a bit more, what are the environs like?Amilla’s setting in the Baa Atoll, a UNESCO biosphere reserve, means you are just a five-minute boat trip away from the so-called Blue Hole, one of the best dive sites in the Maldives—look out for turtles, triggerfish, and guitar sharks. Excellent. Anything we missed? As well as waterfront villas, Amilla also has treehouses up in the jungle canopy. One is dedicated to personal training with the cult London-based trainers Bodyism, so you can spend a day up in the cool, green treetops having a one-on-one workout session and a nutrition-packed, gluten-free, sugar-free lunch from the Bodyism café. Also the overwater yoga pavilion on the other side of the island is a beautifully peaceful spot to practice at dawn. Anything you’d change?Add more local Maldivian food options—the restaurants tend to focus on the crowd-pleasers of Italian, Japanese, and Southeast Asian. So is a stay here worth it—and why?Amilla is worth coming to for its spectacular tropical setting. The unhurried sense of calm—such a foil to warp-speed life in the big city." - Grainne McBride

Our family of four (two adults, one teenager, and our 9-year-old) spent four nights at Amilla, and it was truly one of the most wonderful holidays we’ve ever had. We stayed in a two-bedroom water villa, which was spacious, comfortable, and perfect for families.|The island itself is breathtaking — so large, yet so well-preserved. Half of it is left untouched, allowing nature to thrive, and we were pleasantly surprised by how organic and eco-friendly everything felt. With fewer rooms compared to other resorts, the atmosphere was intimate. The staff were exceptionally warm and personal, always remembering our names and checking in to see if we needed anything. A special thank you to Buddy, who looked after us so well, as well as the many kind staff at the restaurants and housekeeping. We can’t thank them enough.|We’ve been returning to the Maldives every year and have stayed at quite a few resorts, but Amilla has truly become one of our favorites. The 35–40 minute seaplane ride is absolutely worth it.| |* Cycling around the island — we never thought we’d be biking from place to place in the Maldives, and it made the whole experience so special. I especially miss the breeze on my face and the stars above while cycling at night.|* Ocean Discovery Excursion — we spotted huge turtles (more than 12, our first time ever seeing that many at once!) and even a pod of around 20 dolphins. Absolutely unforgettable.|* White-Tailed Tropicbird Tour with the marine biologist — so unique and educational.|* Hanifaru Manta Ray Snorkeling — a once-in-a-lifetime experience (we saw 30–40 mantas swimming right beneath us!).|* Yogalates (tough but so fun), Sunrise Yoga, and Guided Breathwork & Meditation with Soundbath|* Spa and massages that melted our stress away.|* The one-of-a-kind Jungle Gym.|* The Kids Club, where our children were so well taken care of — special thanks to Riza and the team for their kindness and creativity with activities.|We also loved the thoughtful eco-friendly touches, like the reusable bags and water bottles we received as a welcome gift. On departure day, we were touched by the farewell gifts — an Amilla fan, a beautiful tropical bird toy, and a flower handwoven from leaves.|Another standout is their private airport lounge, which made our arrival and departure so seamless and relaxing.|Thank you, Amilla, for making our stay unforgettable. We will definitely return!

My wife and I visited here last week for our honeymoon. It was an amazing experience with some of the best hospitality we have seen. From the moment we stepped off of the plane the Amilla staff was there to greet us and help with bags. Upon arriving to the Island the service continued to be excellent. Sam our Katheeb and Yousef our room attendant went above and beyond. All of the staff at Amilla was excellent (all food staff, waiters and waitresses, Simba the beverage manager). Highly recommended to anyone wanting a relaxing getaway. Rooms were beautiful. Everything was perfect.

We've stayed at other resorts in the past and weren't expecting much, but Amilla completely exceeded our expectations. The rooms are spacious, the food is incredible with so many options, and the team is absolutely lovely. A special shout-out to Hajar and the team for making our 5-day trip so memorable. We even planted our own coconut tree, so we know we'll be back for sure!

We loved our experience of our honeymoon at the Amilla Maldives. The island and the villa we stayed in were absolutely beautiful, clean and peaceful. Also, the food options were not just delicious but very diverse. The pricing of the food and activities was high but it did not feel like we were not getting our money’s worth. Sam, our butler and all the other people who worked on the island were extremely polite and helpful. We absolutely plan on returning again in the future as this was a honeymoon experience we could only dream of.

We recently spent 5 days at Amilla Maldives and we're already counting down the days until we can go back. This wasn't our first trip to the Maldives, and frankly, we weren't super excited after previous experiences elsewhere. But Amilla is a different world. The rooms are beautiful and spacious, the property is stunning, and there's so much to do—from exploring the five-plus restaurants with diverse cuisines to the many activities and events.||The real highlight was the team. Every single person was lovely and made us feel so welcome. We want to give a huge thank you to Hajar and the entire team for their exceptional hospitality. And the best part? We planted our own coconut tree, a truly special and personal touch that guarantees our return. If you're looking for an unforgettable experience, look no further than Amilla. We wish we could have stayed longer!

This was our second visit to Amilla Maldives, having traveled there with our two children in October 2024. We cherished our previous experience so much that, despite the numerous other resort options available, we chose to return to Amilla to avoid disappointment. We were pleased with our decision, as we stayed in a two-bedroom beach villa once again and requested our favorite butler, Buddy. Upon our arrival at Male Airport, Naïf, the airport representative, greeted us and escorted us to the Amilla lounge, which was both comfortable and spacious. Naïf was exceptionally helpful and friendly, making us feel welcome from the start. At Amilla, we were delighted to see Buddy again, who greeted us with his signature smile. He was not only professional but also approachable, ensuring that everything met our expectations. Our dinner reservations were already arranged at our favorite Japanese restaurant, and Buddy kept us informed about daily activities, ensuring we didn’t miss any exciting events. Our children adored him, especially our youngest, who wanted to spend all his time with Buddy. We enjoyed snorkeling together, exploring the vibrant house reef teeming with marine life. Amilla also offers a variety of dining options, including Indian, Greek, Italian, and a beach club, all of which we found enjoyable, though we consistently favored the Japanese cuisine. Our week-long stay at Amilla was so delightful that we were reluctant to leave, but we knew we had to return to work to fund our next visit. The staff at Amilla were incredibly friendly and dedicated, with the gardening team consistently maintaining the island's beauty, even offering us fresh coconuts that were deliciously refreshing. The restaurant staff were attentive to our dietary preferences, especially considering our youngest child's allergies, ensuring we made safe food choices. The wonderful aspect of our experience was that the restaurant team anticipated our needs without reminders. Yashuda, our favorite waiter, provided exceptional service, ensuring our family felt well cared for during our brief stay. We are already considering extending our next visit to two weeks, as there is so much more to explore at Amilla. Undoubtedly, no other resort can match the dedication of this team.

Our family had an absolutely wonderful stay at this resort! From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was outstanding — every staff member we encountered was warm, attentive, and truly made us feel at home. The food was simply delicious, offering a variety of dishes that pleased everyone in our family. Each meal was thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. The serene spa experience was a true highlight — peaceful, rejuvenating, and exactly what we needed for a relaxing getaway. The entire resort radiated tranquility and charm, making it the perfect place to unwind together. We are so grateful for the amazing service and memorable moments we shared here.

Amilla Maldives is an absolutely stunning destination – it truly feels like heaven on earth. I had the pleasure of celebrating my wife’s 33rd birthday here, spending nearly a week in July. We stayed in the Sunset Water Pool Villa. 🏝️ Overall, the room is incredibly spacious. The king-sized bed is one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in at any hotel or resort. There’s also a private pool with a breathtaking view of the sea, which was absolutely stunning and picture-perfect. 📸 We arrived during the monsoon season, and while the weather was unpredictable, we were fortunate that it was kind to us for most of our stay. Thanks to that, we were able to enjoy a variety of activities, including snorkeling, diving, cycling, fishing, sailing, and exploring the island. 🏝️ We also adored how the villa is directly connected to the open sea by a small ladder at the back of the pool. Although we didn’t get to snorkel much because of the strong currents, the constant sound of the waves added a peaceful, soothing vibe to the whole experience 🌊 Amilla had about seven restaurants, each offering a range of different cuisines. With all due respect to the chefs, we found ourselves most drawn to the Japanese restaurant and Joe’s Pizza. The others were solid but just above average for us. For fun, we even gave each place a personal rating based on our own taste preference 🤤:- [1] 🇯🇵 Feeling Koi - 8/10 [2] 🇬🇷 Tessera - 6.5/10 [3] 🇮🇹 Barolo - 6.5/10 [4) 🇮🇳 East - 6.5/10 [5] 🍕 Joe's Pizza - 8/10 [6] 🥪 Fresh - 7/10 [7] 👑 Emperor Beach Club - 7/10 The daily activities within the resort were wholesome, engaging, and refreshing - keeping us entertained throughout our entire stay. We also appreciated how every member of the Amilla staff greeted us with a warm smile, no matter where we went 😊 Special shoutout to: 🥰 Sam for taking extremely good care of us and being so accomodating throughout our entire stay, you are the best and we miss you! 🥰 Dania for the great experience in the sea. Thank you for bringing us to see the magical Manta and for the wonderful diving session 🥰 Sotti for bringing us snorkelling and seeing more than 10 sea turtles - How lucky we were! 🥰🥰Dewi and Ann for the exceptional out-of-this-world body spa massage session which was unforgettable. A-Must-Try!!! 🥰Selina for the fun-DIY-exfoliation. Your laughter / chuckle during the face scrubbing is contagious haha 🥰Ratna for the zen-ness, and making us sweat and ache through your Yoga class 🥰Cheff Naff for showing us around the garden and how to dish up a Maldivian local cuisine 🥰Dewi for making my wife's bday dinner at the beach a memorable one. You were really kind! 🥰Amaan for taking good quality shots of us during the photo taking session around the island 🥰Ahmed for keeping the room clean and comfy every single day throughout our stay, and thank you for the lovely decoration set-up for my wife's bday [For Betterment 👍🏼] While it wasn’t a major concern for us at the time, the room's interior does feel a bit dated and could benefit from a refresh. There are also a few points I’d like to respectfully highlight for consideration in future improvements: [1] The bathroom and shower tiles showed signs of staining and mold, with visible cracks present. [2] It seems the air conditioning might need servicing. The room we stayed in didn’t cool down properly, even after we reached out to the staff for assistance on the second night. [3] Due to the bad weather, the patio deck umbrella was left leaning against the walls near the outdoor showers, which could potentially be a hazard. [4] Given the cost of staying at Amilla, it would be a thoughtful gesture to offer complimentary in-room snacks and drinks, rather than charging guests for them. [5] It might be worth considering a broader variety in the breakfast menu, as the options became quite repetitive after six days, especially with only one restaurant available. [6] It would be a great opportunity to enhance the quality and appearance of the life jackets provided in the villa.
