Amor de Mar

Wonderful stay and good value for 9 days. ||We rented both Villas (Casa Luna and Casa Sol). 3 adults and 2 kids in Casa Luna and my wife and I in Casa Sol. The latter was perfect, wonderful and spacious kitchen, romantic bedroom with king size bed and private balcony. Casa Luna had 2 bathrooms and worked well for my family with the kids. Breakfast at Amor de Mar (not included) was fresh, tasty and well presented. AC in both Villas work very well and evenings were great. ||Two of the nights i made a fire and grilled some fish and chicken (see pic).||Location to Village (Montezuma) is great and 10 min walk to Saturday market, supermarket, pubs, and restaurants. *TIP: 5 min to the left of Amor De Mar is a fabulous restaurant (Soda tipica las paleras) with great food, portions and value. ||We flew from SJO - ACO - SJO with GreenAirways (25 min flight) and hotel arranged all pick-ups plus daily taxi to various beaches. ||The staff (front desk and kitchen) is extremely helpful and friendly. *I own a big safari travel agency and know what good service levels should be (they tick all the boxes). They even surprised me with a birthday cake and candles the morning of my 60th (and sang happy b.day). ||Observation: I saw the Hotel owner a few times but she doesn't greet or acknowledge guests (pity). ||Summary: The location, the views, the breakfast, the team, and the rates all add up to a "wonderful winning recipe". ||Thank You Team Amor De Mar.

The staff at Amir de Mar are absolutely wonderful. Before arriving, Fabiola was in touch to ask about our interests and set up bookings for a surf lesson and a tour of Isla Tortuga, then provided an itinerary. The room we stayed in, Heliconia, was lovely, and the breakfast/brunch was some of the best food we had in Costa Rica. I would not only recommend the hotel but I want to go back and stay longer! It’s perfectly situated in Montezuma, the grounds are gorgeous, and easy to get to everything in the area.

The hotel is really charming, artful and has some wonderful qualities- especially the lovely verandas looking out over the lawn to the sea. They were delightful. Location was nice, right at entrance to waterfall. Some road noise but not too bad. I would have liked to be able to give a better review, but honestly I wouldn’t choose to stay here again. We stayed on Monday and Tuesday night. It turns out that they do not serve breakfast on Tuesdays and the next morning we had to leave by 6:30am to catch our flight, so we were not able to enjoy a breakfast at the hotel. It would have been nice to know this before booking, as I would likely have chosen somewhere else to stay. But as it was, we were curtly informed - without any sort of apology or offer of discount- there would be no breakfast Tuesdays. We stayed in Amopala room. It was cute with some thoughtful touches such as a french press and ground coffee, nice lighting, beautiful woodwork. Unfortunately there were also several downsides: the “queen” bed was definitely not queen sized- it was more like a double, and very hard in a not good way. There was an intense and pervasive musty odor to the room. If you have sensitivity to mold, I would recommend finding another lodging. I experienced significant congestion in the space, despite using the provided air purifier. There was also a very bright spotlight from the main common area aimed straight towards our room’s windows, that they kept on late into the night until all hotel guests had returned. It seems they could have not aimed it into one of the guestrooms or turned on a different lamp, especially after we alerted them to the issue. I wanted to like this place more but these factors really stood out during our stay. Overall I felt like this hotel had potential to be amazing and really fell short on service, attention to detail, and maintenance.

We picked Amor de Mar for our honeymoon, and I’m so glad we did! The location is incredible. Everyone at the hotel was super helpful with booking activities. And the breakfast? Oh my gosh, it was amazing! We tried everything on the menu, and it was all delicious. To top it off, our room was upgraded to an ocean view, which was perfect. The view is simply breathtaking. I think it’s one of the best locations in Montezuma. Highly recommend it!

Not only is the hotel and the space it inhabits absolutely stunning, so is every person you encounter. The staff is truly top tier; they are caring, friendly, and so helpful. I stayed here for a week during my first solo travel trip and felt so safe and secure. They go out of their way to help you have an amazing experience. ||The hammocks, the tide pool, and don't even get me started on their breakfast menu. All superb.

My husband and I stayed here 2 nights. Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful property with a great view to the waterfall. Hammocks and lounge chairs are great for watching the sunrise or the beauty and power of the ocean. I meditated at sunrise on the rocks by the water. Beautiful experience

Amor de mar is the most best hotel in Montezuma. It is located in the most beautiful spot in Montezuma. The ocean view is breathtaking. The owner is a wonderful human being. It is dog friendly. The restaurant is beautiful and the food is great. If you are planing a vacation in Montezuma or a wedding this is the place to do it.

This is the perfect hotel in Montezuma. The view incredible, the vibe incredible, the rooms cozy and comfy, the grounds impeccable. Would visit again hands down. Even joked about getting married here that is how magical it is!
