I stayed one week at The Amora Tha Phae Hotel. This hotel is superb! I was so lucky to have chosen “The Amora” for my week in beautiful Chiang Mai! The room was excellent with beautiful wood flooring, a great safe for valuables, and the location was amazing — right next to The Old City main gate called the Tha Phae Gate I believe. On the major nearby street leading away from The Old City, there are some BEAUTIFUL temples too! On the street farther down, at the corner gate area, there are a bunch of “massage parlors” but the street is not seedy at all. The swimming pool was perfect and I used the small gym about four times. I would have loved seeing the pool and gym open to 9P or 10P instead of 7P — my only recommendation. In the gym, the equipment was fine but having free dumbbells and air conditioning instead of a large fan would be an improvement in addition to having both pool and gym stay open later. I liked the treadmill very much. Also, The Amora is a high rise building that stood out so it made for a good visual landmark when returning. Did I mention what a great value this hotel is??||The main area with the hotel check-in desk, restaurants, elevators, stair cases, etc. was gorgeous. There is an activities desk where I arranged an excellent trip up to Chiang Rai to see the white temple, the blue temple, the black museum, etc. Finally, I had breakfast one day at the hotel, and it was excellent! The hotel staff were extremely polite and professional. I really enjoyed speaking with the bellman in front who assisted me.||I will only stay at this hotel the next time l am in Chiang Mai; I highly-recommend The Amora Tapae! Why this hotel is a four-star hotel and not a five-star hotel makes no sense…..
