We ordered gyros and Italian beef for delivery. I’m rating this as a former lifelong Chicagoan and comparing the gyros and Italian beef from what I grew up on. I was genuinely excited to have some food that reminded me of home! The gyros were pretty good! A little small compared to what we’re used to for the money. Gyros in Chicago are loaded with meat, onions, tzatziki, and feta cheese. Tastewise, pretty spot on! Unfortunately, the Italian beef fell way short in comparison. I grew up on Al’s Italian Beef and Portillo’s. This sandwich definitely misses the mark. The au jus is not au jus from the beef slow cooking in all the seasonings, as they do in Chicago. We instead received straight beef broth, no seasonings in it at all. The giardinera is not good at all. Overall, the Italian beef was a huge disappointment. My mom barely ate any of hers. She was not happy. But, for someone not familiar with Chicago Italian beef, they may like it! If I didn’t have anything to compare it with, it would be a decent sandwich. The fries were awesome though, crispy, salted well, and had a cool shape to it. So, overall, since we ordered two Italian beefs and two gyros, half our meal was a disappointment and way overpriced for what we received. Can’t rate service or atmosphere, as we did not dine in. So out of 5 stars, I’m giving it 3 stars.
