We stayed at Amsterdam Forest Hotel for 3 days as two people. The location was accessible by a single bus from Amsterdam Zuid train station. There is a large urban forest right behind the hotel, which adds a peaceful touch to the surroundings. The interior design of the hotel is stylish and modern. However, the room was extremely small and uncomfortable for two people to stay in with ease. The overall cleanliness was average, including the bed sheets.
The biggest issue we faced during our stay was with the hairdryer. On our first night, after taking a shower, we realized there was no hairdryer in the room. We called the reception, and they told us they would help. After waiting for about half an hour with no response, I went downstairs to ask again. The receptionist said that the previous guests might have stolen the hairdryer and that there were none available at the moment. He told us to come back in the morning. This response was both shocking and upsetting, especially because we had wet hair and needed to dry it before sleeping. We ended up sleeping with wet hair and got sick the next day. The next morning, I went to the reception again and spoke with a different staff member. This time, they immediately checked the storage and brought us a hairdryer within five minutes. The inconsistency in staff responses left us with a negative impression. Another issue was the inconsistent housekeeping. On the first day, the cleaning staff only took the towels and did not touch anything else in the room. On the second day, however, a different team cleaned and tidied up the entire room. There seemed to be no clear standard.
One of the worst parts of the hotel was the lack of nearby shops. There was no place to buy water or basic items. The nearest supermarket was 20 minutes away and closed at 8 PM, which meant we had to carry water from afar. Although the room had a mini-fridge and a coffee machine, neither of them worked. Additionally, the room was hot, and the climate control buttons didn’t function, so we couldn’t adjust the temperature. The window only opened slightly, which made it hard to ventilate the room.
