Amy's Bread

This coffee shop is a gem. The cappuccino latte is top-notch, the pastries are scrumptious and nice variety, and the ambiance is simple, rustic and pleasant. A lot of outdoor seating. Too bad that their non-dairy milk choice is only almond or oat.

I would like to first say I never have given a review. But this place was exceptionally awful. If I could give this place negative stars I would. I just wanted a croissant. Got the worst attitude from the person at the register and as you can see from the pictures this is how my croissant came back after I asked if she could heat it up…. She put it in a freaking panini press. I can’t make this up. There are so many great places just a couple blocks down from there. Don’t go here. Don’t be me. Amy would not be happy.

I feel super sad today since they sold out the cherry cream scone before I visited🥲 However, the sticky bun and pistachio croissant twist saved my stomach. I love the chewy and soft texture of sticky bun. Coming back for scone next time!

This is the best brownie I have had so far. Just the right amount of chewiness with perfect amount of crunch from the walnuts. Its also not too sweet. The shot of espresso I had was so foamy too

First time here. My sticky bun was delicious. Not very sweet, just the way I like it. The coffee was very good too.

The cakes are moist, creamy, and right amount of sweet. Amazing!!

Shop local! Amy's has some delicious baked goods, but I'll also throw in a big plug for their coffee. In a part of Brooklyn littered with both chain coffee shops and local stores, coffee from Amy's stands out. The coffee is consistently smooth and rich, without being bitter. If you're on this part of Atlantic Ave, skip the Starbucks and check out Amy's!

First time visiting this location, but after spending over a decade in Hell's Kitchen, I'm very familiar with the delicious breads, sandwiches, and pastries at Amy's Bread. I was just looking for something quick on this visit, so I ordered a focaccia square and a ham and Swiss croissant. The focaccia was good. I personally prefer focaccia with more olive oil soaked in, but this was better for eating on the go (which was why I got the bread). The croissant was supposed to come with dijon and mayo, but it was just ham, cheese, and bread. Usually, I would find it really disappointing to order something and then later find out that it is missing major flavor components from the description, but in this case, the croissant was so good that it worked without any added condiments and was still satisfying. I appreciated that the service was quick, as I was on my way to catch the ferry (they're only a few blocks away) and short on time. I would return again for bread or sandwiches when in the area.

I stopped in today on a lark when walking by. I only had a cup of coffee (that was very good) but the pastries looked delicious. the place was spotless, the vibe mellow and the service very friendly. It is a place to which I plan to return soon to try the food!

I come here often to get their fresh bread, the olive sourdough is probably my family's favorite! The dinner rolls are always a hit. I recently tried the sticky bun and it was delicious as well. They have good coffee if you want to enjoy a pastry/sandwich in store

This is a cute neighborhood gem. My husband and I shared a wonderful breakfast consisting of an almond croissant and cherry scone, sitting by the window and watching the street activity of Henry Street and Atlantic Avenue. The prices are basically market rate, but the portions are reasonable. The almond croissant had a wonderful rich, but not-too-sweet filling, with a nicely crusty exterior. The best thing about the scone were the large, tart cherries that would burst with flavor and a bit of juice. This location looks deceptively small, but has a well-sized seating area with a number of tables to read and work. The atmosphere was pleasant and calming. We would happily return.

I had a sandwich at Companion Café, and the bread was so good I asked where it came from. That's how I found Amy's sourdough bread. It's AMAZING. I have tried the bread at La Bicyclette, Simple Loaf, Crave, and Bien Cuit, and Amy's is by far the best. Their service *is* lacklustre, but who cares?

This little hole in the wall is one of many locations of this bakery chain. As per the name, they are mostly known for bread and the bread here is alright. I heavily prefer either the Italian spots or if I'm looking for French bread, Le French Tart Deli (who also makes just better fresher tasting pastries and better everything else otherwise.) The Olive Oil Cake (I believe $4.50 or $5.50) had a nice light orange flavor which was unique and tasty though I didn't think the texture was as good as other spots. The Butterscotch Cashew Bar for $4.00 is tasty and a solid little snack but is almost borderline too sweet. Pricey but then again it is this neighborhood and Bien Cuit is even more expensive (but they have more unique pastries even if I disliked a bunch there.) As mentioned, the service doesn't appear to care that much but it's whatever. They are the definition of OK so three stars to three and a half stars makes sense.

Absolutely amazing bread! I'm not sure why this place has 3.5 stars, the bread is amazing! The sourdough in particular, both of the variants. I highly recommend this place!

Ordered a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese and I could see the cinnamon and a few raisins, but couldn't taste either. It tasted like a plain bagel. Such a bummer.

I always make it a point to get a loaf from Amy's on the way back home from my run. The whole loaf selection is great- with even a couple of organic options. My favorite is the whole wheat batard. They allow you to split the loaf if a whole loaf is too much bread. While the quality bread is enough incentive for a visit, the loyalty stamp card ( buy 9, and get the 10th for free!) is an excellent reason to stop by. Free bread for everyone!! Amy's also offers prepared sandwiches and sweets - which I've never tried, but they do look very tasty. Perfect for your next quarantine treat.

I do not understand why this bakery get so much bad reviews...well in my case this place is great. Coffee is always fresh, and baked goods are always tasty. During the holiday seasons they have fruit cake and it was moist and had so much flavors. The lady who served was friendly and nice, too.

There is a new contender for best bread in Brooklyn! While Amy's has been in NYC for 25 years, this location is a welcome addition to Brooklyn Heights right near Atlantic Ave. The breads that matter to me for regular consumption are slow-fermented sourdough whole wheat loaves and miches, and Amy's delivers on these in style. Today I tried the long-ferment whole wheat olive sourdough and was extremely impressed. My favorite thing about Amy's is that the crust isn't quite as impenetrable as some other great loaves, so you can actually bite into it and chew easily without scratching the roof of your mouth. And the best part is that the crumb (interior texture, gluten network, tenderness, and general feel of a bread) is soft and buttery, which I wouldn't have expected given the crust's softness relative to other great loaves. I'll be back for the miche next week.

For those who share Oprah's sentiment, "I love bread!," Amy's Bread is the perfect place for you. I've visited this cafe a couple of times and while there are plenty of options (bread, pastries, desserts, cookies, sandwiches, coffee drinks, etc.), the breads are the star of the show. Favorite items I've tried so far are the sticky bun and the cinnamon challah knot roll. The sticky bun was by far the best I've ever had, with the perfect texture of layers that you can peel off. It was incredibly sticky and oh-so delicious! The challah knot roll was also very good, seemed to be a less intense version of the sticky bun (good for those who want something less sweet). As a cookie fanatic, Amy's cookies have been both a hit and a miss. The chocolate chip cookie was great (nice combination of chewy and crunchy), however I was disappointed with the black and white cookie as it was much harder than expected. I recently tried the famous kitchen sink cookie, which was nothing more than your standard chocolate oatmeal. Overall, I am so excited that Amy's Bread has joined the neighborhood. It's a lovely cafe to grab something to-go with plenty of space if you'd like to relax and sit down. I can't wait to try more of the bakery goods!

Lovely new bakery in the old Tazza space. I was pretty bummed when Tazza closed, having spent many hours there with a stroller parked next to me. The newly reopened space is reconfigured but also welcoming and will hopefully have outdoor seating during warm weather. Most importantly the breads are fantastic. I've stopped by a few times and have tried a variety of baked goods at this point and none have disappointed.

Really excited to have a new bakery and bagel source in this corner of Brooklyn Heights. Stopped in today for a coffee, and I picked up a loaf of sourdough and a flatbread snack. All delicious, and the price was entirely (and surprisingly!) reasonable. Hoping to make this a regular spot in the future!

I was excited to try this outpost of Amy's Bread right in my neighborhood after years of enjoying the delights of the original Hell's Kitchen location. And after receiving a holiday gift card from a friend who lives near the original, I finally got to this location today. But it was weird. I used to patronize the Tazza that was here, and it seems that the space is almost exactly the same as it was - which is fine, at least it is spacious. The sandwich board outside the bakery touted many many pumpkin items which I did think was somewhat strange considering the time of year, but I figured since the sandwich board was written in chalk, the selections must be current. I walked in and the bakery cases were almost empty. I had been planning to buy a slice of cake to take home, and then get a flavored latte of some sort. The cases only held what looked like a few leftover breakfast items, some cupcakes, a few cookies, and a scant other few things. I asked the woman behind the counter if she had any cake slices and she said 'no, the cake holders weren't available so there was no cake today but maybe tomorrow.' I thought that was odd, so I decided to forget about that and ask for a pumpkin spice latte, one of the items that was advertised quite boldly on the sandwich board outside. The cashier just looked at me with a smirk and said 'we don't have that any more, the season is over.' Okay... So I finally decided on a regular mocha since the gift card was burning a hole in my pocket and by now I was desperate to get ... something. Once given this order, she did make the latte and finish the transaction efficiently but as other reviewers have noted, there wasn't much joy or happiness in her demeanor. I definitely won't be back to this location and intend to use the rest of my gift card back at the original location where there are at least baked goods for sale!

This is a prime example of a convenience shopping rather than for quality. The bread is fine, in fact its reasonably good but the service is dreadful. Any time I have been in there, no matter who is serving, I feel like its a massive effort for them to even look up at me. No smile ever and there is no excitement in dealing with any customer. The only reason why I go back here on occasion is because its the closest bakery to where I live. The place is never very busy and I believe this is because customers don't feel they are appreciated. Why go somewhere that doesn't care if you shop with them. - 1/2 of a star for the bread (even though I agree with some other posts as I've had stale cupcakes before) - 1 star for the decor (the place looks nice but always quiet, even during what should be busy times) I will round it up to 2 stars but the service needs to change if they expect to last in this neighborhood!

Delicious delicious!! Finally a real bakery in this neighbourhood! I visited the first time today around 5:30 and took advantage of their buy 1 get 1 free deal. Also picked up a slice of red velvet and german chocolate cake, both really moist and not overly sweet.

Wow! The bread here is amazing! I had a Brie and Apple sandwich that was perfect. When I saw the cookbooks and talked to the server I realized I was in one of the best bakeries in NYC. Hand made, fresh ingredients, loads of care and consideration to detail. Thanks for coming to Brooklyn Amy!

Best French baguette outside of France. Get their Parisian breakfast with some tea. And then make sure you order a bunch of baguettes to go home with

We ordered a birthday cake over the phone 3 days in advance of my bday and was told that it would be ready for pick up first thing on my big day. Alas, when we went to grab it we were told there was no cake and the order must have never made it into the system. We were really bummed and tried to scramble on the spot and find a solution and landed on an apple pie as a replacement for their screw up. It was slim pickings. The apple pie was a few dollars more and yep you guessed it they wanted us to pay the overage. Now to be clear, we did not pay for the cake up front so I guess that gives them some room to ignore orders but the nerve to charge us more for the pie when it was their cake mistake. GRRR What HORRIBLE costumer service = lost our neighborhood biz, that's for sure. And, it was my bday. Good riddance.

Tried to visit the store today at 6:30pm, since the google listing said the store was open until 7, but the store was locked and all the chairs put up at exactly 6:30pm. Curious what the actual hours are? Can't really say what the star rating would be since I couldn't buy anything so that may not be accurate.

The best sticky buns and delicious coffee. Plus, everyone who works there is lovely. My neighborhood go-to.

$3.90 for a stale croissant, bought not long after shop opened this morning ( Saturday), hmmmmm...???? Also girl that sold the croissant and 2 coffees needs to work on her attitude. This looks like a small local business, surely people will take their custom elsewhere if she keeps speaking with her mouth full, and is unintelligible when she does speak

Super miss the West Village location but I checked out this one while visiting a friend in Brooklyn...I have to say, it's even more quaint and beautiful than the WV one! Good selections of pastries, cakes, and breads. Tried their new goat cheese sandwich -- omg, so delicious. Staff was sweet and service was fast. I so wish I lived in BK so I can be closer, guess I'll have to visit more often!

I should have saved the croissant, sans two bites, and sent it back to the baker, but I was so unpleasantly surprised and the trash bin was co close... I bought the croissant right after the shop opened at 8:00. When I got home and took it out of the bag, before 8:30, I found the crust dry and hard ... to the point that it could be torn away in big pieces, stiff and sturdy. The crumb was not much better. Isn't the crust supposed to be flaky and the crumb moist? And where's the butter? Oh, it's bitterly salty. I obtained a second opinion, just in case my senses were on strike today. The experienced baker broke a piece, felt it, and said she wouldn't bother...

We stopped by for breakfast but we were very disappointed with the service. Our breakfast sandwiches were okay. Breads looked great but we didn't try them!

I love Any's but the staff (here at 9:30 sat) could not care less. On their phones, snails pace, no interest in making an egg sandwich. Really sad. Let's restaff and try again!
