Ana's On The Beach

I ordered a seafood sampler that is supposed to be consists of squid, shrimp and fish. There was no fish, the squid is really rubbery and the shrimp is just alright. The food was fried longer that it should. I should have listened to my gut after reading reviews on here. Definitely don’t recommend.

First, the view and setting are absolutely spectacular! Antigua's sunsets rival any that I've seen around the world and Ana's offers one of the best views. Food is really good too - there is something about the freshness of food on the islands and this place does not disappoint. I had the lobster and others in my party had grilled fish and the ceviche appetizer was amazing! However, just know that you WILL be on island time so make sure you are not super hungry or have plans immediately after. If you are on vacation I suppose that is not a big deal but just be prepared to wait close to an hour or more for your food. As many have said, a few in my party were not even hungry anymore by the time the food came out which I always find odd but it's true. Also, you may be disappointed because many things were not available on the menu. I can totally understand that supply can be limited at certain times and not entirely their fault, but it would’ve been nice to know before ordering what was available rather than them coming back and telling us after we ordered. Service can definitely be improved hence 4 stars instead of 5. In spite of this, the servers, bartender and the owner who I met are very friendly and pleasant. They certainly make up for some of the shortcomings.

We had a great time. Great staff. People will always complain, especially when they believe that your product and service are dependent on their first world status. Many of the 5 star restaurants in the US have more issues coupled with untrained and unfriendly staff. I had an awesome. The servers are amazingly warm and attentive. I’d love to give this place another star, the food/ambience/servers were all great. We went here 3 times for lunch and once for drinks at night, and 3/4 times was great. The one time it wasn’t was because of a woman (not sure if she’s the owner or a manager) who was treating her staff like you know what. She was talking down to them like they were incompetent children. Our server came to our table in a timely fashion, started taking our order, and was loudly/rudely interrupted by this woman. The woman aggressively told her to stop taking our order and to go bus another table beforehand, loud enough that multiple tables heard and heads were shaking. She told us that “she wanted to get other guests sat so everyone could have a great experience at the restaurant.” We were left incredibly uncomfortable at that point, it was extremely unprofessional and not how a restaurant should be run. She literally killed the atmosphere and vibe. I was in restaurant management for years and I would have fired her on the spot if that was my place. It’s night and day how the mood of the staff and atmosphere of the establishment are when she was there vs not. When she finally allowed someone to come take our order she was standing over him micromanaging what he was saying and the sound of defeat in his voice was so prevalent. The staff deserves better, every one of you that we encountered was super friendly and we only came back when we could see she was not around.

That fish of the day was excellent 👌 Very attentive staff, I mentioned I can only eat gluten free as I’m coeliac and they made sure not to fry my food in oil where could be cross contamination. Lovely custumer service, listening to a customer. Also the place is cozy and relaxing, just what you’re looking for when you’re on holidays.

None of the food was really that great. They were out of a lot of things so that was weird? They used store bought shells for tacos. There was undressed salad on almost every plate. The chicken wings and fish curry were okay. The arepas was soggy. The drinks were strong and that was the only highlight. They charge a fee to be there and we paid for chairs to be able to lay on the beach. We needed up spending about $160 in American dollars for the whole experience. Four items of food, three drinks, their fee to be there plus abst and service charge and we paid for four chairs as we were there with another couple plus we tipped because they were actually decent on service. Overall, the food is definitely not worth it and I don’t think we’d go back. We’d try to find another beach area but this is where our taxi took us too when we asked to go to this particular beach.

The food and drinks here are delicious. The staff were attentive and our drinks and food came out quickly. The restaurant had a great atmosphere and I enjoyed the outdoor seating. The sunset views were amazing! This was a great dinner experience.
