ANA Crowne Plaza Nagasaki Gloverhill by IHG

We sought shelter from a summer rainstorm and ended up enjoying a wonderful surprise at ANA Crowne Plaza Nagasaki ☔️🍽️ The breakfast buffet was a delightful experience — for just ¥2,700 per person, we were treated to a wide variety of well-prepared dishes, both Western and Japanese. From fresh salads and seasonal fruits to warm, comforting local specialties, everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff was attentive yet unobtrusive, and the elegant atmosphere made it easy to relax. We ended up staying for almost three hours, simply enjoying the calm ambiance and tasty selections. Highly recommended — not just for hotel guests, but also for anyone looking for a satisfying breakfast experience in Nagasaki!

Aside from the older male staff at the reception who treated me with coldness and immediately greeted a Japanese guest with utter politeness and smiles; the hotel was otherwise good. Female staff were all polite enough. Overall the service (towards non-Japanese guests) seemed a bit lacking. Didn’t feel as welcoming compared to some other hotels in Japan.

We have our big family gathering here for two nights. Perfect location made us easy to reach most scenic spots no matter on walking or by bus /tram. Comfortable and clean room with modern amenities. Polite, heartwarming, friendly and helpful staff. We enjoyed our stay with thanks . We will come again in Summer.

English-speaking concierge always helps. And she did. Very attentive, as most Japanese hotels are. They do not drop the ball. Good job guys.

On the outside, the hotel looks a little dated but inside, it’s very clean and modern, classy. The staff was professional and friendly, upgraded me on my Platinum tier to a room with a lovely view of Glover Slope where I could see the cruise ships coming in and the church steeples up the hill. The room exceeded my expectations, 6th floor - clean and well maintained, new. The ONLY complaint I’d have it that I couldn’t get the lighting I wanted, the floor lamp was connected to the room and I couldn’t figure out how to turn on some lights and turn off some lights. You get all, some, or none — but the TV had YouTube. Netflix etc, the bathtub was cleaned well and the bed was perfect with 2 kinds of pillows. The food here also exceeded my expectation. The lunch was reasonably priced, local dishes like Champon (Nagasaki soup), Turk Rice and Sara Udon. The parking lot was convenient but tight at times, drive slow and careful around the second floor ramp. Loads of other food options around the hotel, many things closed Wednesday. It is a tourist area, but mostly from cruise ships so it comes in waves. Noise was not an issue, even the cruise ships honking twice a day. Gave the area atmosphere. I’ll be back! Thank you ^_^

Update It appears management has upped the service level in the 4 months from our last stay. Check in time saw an abundance of staff in the entry and reception area resulting in expedient service. Definitely a marked improvement from our last stay. Assume this is on the lower tier of IHG properties as their service falls in the range of 2 star hotels. Loyalty status recognition is almost non-existent and Front desk staff seem quite aloof and seemingly uninterested in their attitude towards hospitality. Cudos to the F&B staff in Pave who show genuine interest in customer service that I find lacking in other areas of the hotel

Google Maps directions to this location from Nagasaki Station were a bit difficult to follow, however the location itself once past those technical issues is absolutely easy to access and though not downtown in a prime location. If you are looking to spend time around Glover Garden and the church, as well as Chinatown, it is perfect. The Peace Museum and the Nagasaki Museum of History & Culture are only about 1/2 hour away by bus. The facility itself is very nice. The staff are as pleasant and accommodating as those at the ANA Crowne Plaza in Nagoya where I also stayed on this trip. Absolutely stellar service at the desk. My room itself was a little smaller than ones found at a facility in a larger city, but was more than enough for my needs. My room also had a full size window that opened up facing Glover Garden which was extremely pleasant for early evening winding down.

One of the bigger rooms I had on my trip to Japan. Great location and don t miss the excellent lunch buffet with harbour view. Will come back@

Stayed one night for business. Hotel was located close to where my meeting was. Room was a tad small (and dark) but was fine for one night. There's a family mart on the corner which was convenient for getting food and drinks. Staff here speak English so no issues communicating. Overall a good option for Nagasaki.
