Ana Hostel

First of all, the housekeeper had to clean the beds of people that had left but simply but the pillow and sheets back on the bed after folding them; meaning he didn't take of any sheets to clean/wash them. Which isn't clean at all!! Later on someone else came and cleaned the sheets but by then new people had already arrived and slept on the dirty linen. Secondly, when his boss called to check in he was complaining about having to do too much work, she told him to just do his job as housekeeper and put up the fans. Afterwards he started complaining out loud, which felt kind of weird and I can't do anything about it. Thirdly, I spotted personnel sitting in the stairwell smoking some cigarettes on multiple occasions whilst the hostel is supposed to be smoke free. So this gives both a weird signal to other guests and is just disgusting. Fourthly, there have been the same pieces of waste on the floor throughout my entire stay here (well over 3 days by now) meaning there has been no vacuum cleaning or brooming of any sorts. Fiftly, when I arrived this Monday I was told there would be lockers the next day (that would be Tuesday) but when I left on Friday the lockers were nowhere to be seen. However there have been mattresses and bed frames blocking the staircase for days without being moved. Sixtly, the bathroom (which is shared between 20 people, just the the one bathroom that contains both the toilet and the shower) has not been cleaned either since I got there and in the shower there is black mold and just loads of dust and sand. There are signs of water leakage in the bedroom (but the hostel has only been open for a week), so it appears there hasn't been any maintenance before getting the guests into the hostel. Finally, I would like to address the behaviour of the housekeeper as unprofessional. I'm sorry to say this but I feel like this needs to be said. He keeps complaining to the guests and even demanded my keys and said I was stealing them, whilst | was just going into town and my stay was nowhere near finished.

+ : very well located, between the train station and the river. The price is OK. The beds are confortable. The room was clean. The lady that booked us in was kind. You can leave your luggage if the room is not ready yet. ||- : our stay was quite weird. The room had only one curtain for 2 windows, one weak light, no fan. The upper bed is difficult to climb. The kitchen wasn't appealing, some people were sleeping in it (??), the gas and the fridge were often left opened. The bathroom was not convenient as it only had 1 shower and 1 WC together. Also not really clean but I guess it's up to the people that use it. ||We do not recommand this place for several nights but only if you are looking for a cheap night near the center of Ljubljana.

This place is in a good location and the owner is very friendly. The wifi was good too. The room we were in was comfortable to sleep but overall it’s very dirty. The communal kitchen had the gas stove going all the time(?!) even with people smoking in there. It was also very dirty. The entire place except for our room smelt of smoke and everything was quite worn. Might be worth the price if only for a night

The only good thing is that the owner is nice and it’s close to the city center. BUT literally everything else is a disaster... we agree with every bad comment posted here. Bathrooms were cleaned about a decade ago for the last time, the place smells like smoke, weird people come and go, beds are thin and they itch. The main door is always open, there’s no communal area, the kitchen is super shady and extremely dirty. So, if you’re looking for a good experience, do not stay here :)

Good location, close to the city center. The hostel was clean and the room quite big. ||Unfortunately an accident happened to me while I was sleeping on the top bunk bed. I fell down on the floor as there was no protection to prevent from it. I hit the floor face down, opened my lip and hit my nose and knee pretty badly. The morning after I asked for advice on where I could find a pharmacy and a hospital. The lady working there was sorry and worried so she asked some guest at the hostel to help me. This person told me that I was fine, I was beautiful and should just relax and grab a beer. Obviously this man-who is not part of the hostel staff-did not understand that I was in pain and not needed any of those comments. The day after, at check out time, we met with the manager of the hostel, who asked me what had happened. At first I was surprised he did not know what happened as he was there when I asked for advice the day before. I told him I fell off the top bunk bed and he said I should have told him so he would have given me the lower bunk bed. As if I could have planned this would happen. He also said that maybe I had a little drink that night. I am not saying it’s their responsibility I fell off the bed but I would have appreciated a little help and understanding about my situation. My expectations were not met. ||Last but not least, I would ask the hostel manager to avoid cheekily offering a beer to a young lady, this is just inappropriate. ||||Obviously this was just my own experience and hope this won’t happen to anyone else. This is a nice hostel if you are planning on staying a couple of nights in Ljubljana.

As a group of friends we usually travel a lot choosing the most of the times, hostels or cheap hotels, but this time the Ana hostel have been a terrible experience. Very very very dirty!! Under the carpet (so covered by it) there was a chewing gum well mashed on the floor, the walls of the room were like graffiti of foot print and snots, the tends to close the windows old and filthy. About the bathroom, since we were sharing it, the cleaning depend also on the other guests.. anyway not new. I don't suggest this hostel, even if the position is amazing: 10 minuts fra from the city center. Important note: there is no free parking nearby the hostel, you must pay 15€ per day in the private parking.

We arrived at the hostel and were told they had overbooked, so instead of the double room with shared bathroom we booked we were upgraded to a full apartment, which was great. Room seemed clean although one cupboard had some clothes in it, possibly from the previous people?? Either way the location of this hostel is incredible and staff seemed friendly

I came here 2 days ago with a friend from college and had a great time. We got to know the owner who was super nice and the price is really reasonable. It wasn't the highest quality and the shower was cold but that's small things like that don't take away from the fact that it was a good place and we had a lot of fun!
