Wow! What a stunning hotel. The service was very friendly and attentive. I received recommendations for things to do in the city and where to eat. The highlight was my hotel room and the view from the room. The room itself was beautifully designed, so much so that I’d like to model my home off of it. Absolutely breathtaking. The onsen was clean and had a nice outdoor area with hot baths that also had a stunning view. I got room service which was better than most I’ve had. The hotel is a bit away from the train station and main city area, but it was easy to take a taxi into town.

The service was exceptional from the moment I arrived. Niina and Goto at the welcome desk were genuinely warm, attentive, and made check-in feel effortless. Akaki went above and beyond, personally coordinating restaurant and onsen reservations for me throughout my stay — which made a big difference on a busy itinerary. The room was spotless, the amenities were top-tier, and the location was perfect for accessing the rest of Beppu.

Room: Clean, spacious, and comes with a private onsen. The suite includes a free minibar with all kinds of alcohol, even generous Regent selections. Service: All staff can speak English and are very friendly. The service is quick, and what surprised me most is that they even offer fruit cutting service. Location: Very close to Umi Jigoku, which is convenient for sightseeing. Transportation: The hotel provides pickup and drop-off service. You just need to email them to confirm. Since the car only has four seats, if there aren’t enough seats, they’ll arrange a taxi instead and cover the cost. Their onsen is excellent, with a beautiful night view of Beppu. I recommend going before dinner, around 6 to 7 pm, when it’s quiet and sometimes you can have the whole place to yourself.

We loved this hotel - loved the pool and onsen. The rooms are wonderful and the staff are very attentive. Had great chats with the bar men who made wonderful cocktails and were super skilled and delightful. So many good things. The only disappointment was the food. For the expense, the main dishes were hit and miss. The buffet is okay but when you have to add extra costs for different mains and some are very average, you question the value. In the end we couldn’t justify it and went into town each night for dinner - even with the cost of a taxi each way, it’s still worth it. Much better value and quality. If this hotel could get the food offering and price points right, we would stay much longer! Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we hope to be back.

From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by a view so breathtaking it felt almost unreal — the city and surrounding landscape unfolding far below like a living painting. The hotel’s design is a masterpiece in itself, where every line, texture, and detail has been meticulously curated to create an atmosphere of serene elegance. The spa is nothing short of extraordinary — the most beautiful I have ever experienced in Japan. The facial treatment with massage was, without any doubt, the best I have ever had in my life — I only regret that I had time for just one. The staff embody warmth and professionalism, elevating every interaction into something memorable. Breakfasts here are an indulgence to savor, and each meal is a flawless blend of flavor, artistry, and freshness. This is not simply a place to stay — it is an experience that lingers in your heart long after you leave. I will undoubtedly return.

During our stay at the IHG hotel, we were truly impressed by the exceptional service of the staff, especially Yamada-san in the club lounge. Every detail was handled with great care and sincerity, allowing us to have a most comfortable and pleasant stay. We could truly feel the heart of Japanese omotenashi. The concierge was incredibly helpful in planning our local visits to the Beppu hot springs, including the iconic “Hells of Beppu.” The hotel arranged everything, including a wonderful driver who made our excursions effortless and enjoyable.||Dining was another highlight – we enjoyed two exquisite dinners at the top-floor restaurant with world-class cuisine and service. But perhaps the most unforgettable part of our stay was the onsen facilities. The serene, elegant design and soothing hot springs made for a truly rejuvenating experience – unlike any other.||In every way, this hotel exceeded expectations: top-notch service, impeccable rooms, outstanding food, and one of the most relaxing onsen experiences in Japan. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Beppu – this is luxury at its finest.

I recently stayed at ANA InterContinental Beppu Resort & Spa and had an absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment I checked in, the service was warm, attentive, and genuine. Although there was no twin suite available on my first night, the staff kindly helped arrange an upgrade for my extended stay. The communication was smooth and thoughtful, which made me feel very welcomed and well taken care of. The resort itself is stunning — beautifully designed, tranquil, and offers breathtaking views of Beppu. What really stood out to me, however, was the level of personalized service. One evening when I needed a ride and couldn’t find a taxi outside no bus, the hotel staff quickly assisted me in securing transportation. Small moments like this truly reflect the team’s dedication and care. I’m also grateful for the housekeeping team, who not only kept the room spotless throughout my stay, but even helped return a forgotten item after I checked out — promptly and with great care. Thank you to everyone at ANA InterContinental Beppu for making this stay so special. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

Out of the whole trip, this was my favorite hotel. ANA has a bunch of hotels all over Japan and in different cities, this one was in Beppu. Overall the check-in process was nice, service was amazing and we had picked the room with a private onsen looking over the little town. It was nice to relax and chill here. They also had afternoon tea in the lounge and drinks at dinner time. The room was huge, and super modern with a in-between look of keeping it traditional to also modern. Everything actually looked really new and gave a relaxed vibe. There was also a massive bathtub in the bathroom. Two double sinks, a living area space, and an outdoor couch! Not your typical size of hotel room but it is a little bit of a splurge but worth it.

ICHBeppu goes beyond a 5-star rating in all ways. 1. Impeccable service! From the time we made our reservation, we communicated via email with the concierge, Choi, to arrange pick-up and secure dining reservations. When our train was delayed to Beppu station by 15 minutes, Choi waited for us and greeted us as we exited the station. Our ride to ICHBeppu was absolutely pleasant and comfortable with Choi sharing information about Beppu and sights to see. Check-in service was equally welcoming. We were greeted in the Club with a glass of wine as our check-in agent explained all the amenities. We briefly mentioned that we wanted to visit the 7 hells via bus the following day. Without asking, our helpful ICHBeppu hostess delivered to our dinner table a hand-written bus timetable for us to use the following day. Upon departure, we were ready to leave before the 10:30 shuttle and were happy to wait. However, our hosts told us that there were quite a few guests leaving at 10:30, so they arranged a private (paid-for by IHCBeppu) taxi to the station. 2. Room: We splurged for the executive room and I'm so pleased we did. Our room was absolutely beautiful and so comfortable. Our balcony had an impressive view of Beppu below. Our private onsen made this an absolute spa luxury. Our bed was extremely comfortable. The room was spacious and perfect in every way. 3. Resort dining: We dined at Elements for dinner, lunch, and breakfast. All meals were amazing! Just make a reservation to ensure your table is ready. Tip: the French toast is the best I've ever had! The amberjack fish (dinner) was scrumptious. 4. Location: The resort is obviously a bit from the station/city center which is how they boast the beautiful views of Beppu from the high hills. However, that doesn't diminish the location as there is a bus stop maybe 4 minutes (walk) from the resort. We used the bus to visit all the hells and dine in town. The resort is accessible even though it's not in the station center. All in all - everything was beyond amazing. This type of service and comfort will be hard to beat.
