stayed here from Christmas Eve for couple of days . I was skeptical about the hotel due to many poor reviews but we had a wonderful experience . We stayed at the ocean view room of the Bay Wing and the room was very comfy and immaculate. The in room amenities were top notch . The Nespresso machine was great . We were able to relax in our patio during the day and it was absolutely quiet, we could hear the ocean. The toilet being separated from the bathroom was a bonus and it added hygiene . The shower and the tub had hot water instantly .The property is spotlessly clean anywhere and everywhere .|Breakfast at Saltida was scrumptious with variety of foods in the buffet although they lacked vegan or dairy free . Customer service at the restaurants/Bar (Yaeyama and Tropics Bar) in the Ocean Wing was incredibly good .|Gave 4 star rating as lunch options were very limited. Saltida gets stereotyped after breakfast .The lounge bar at Ocean Wing served our order almost an hour later .|Although the breakfast is excellent at Saltida , the a la carte dinner is below average for the price and doesn’t taste authentic too. Recommend Yaeyama and China shadow for dinner (every dish at these restaurants were superb).|Another reason for the 4 star is the lack of activities(like mixology classes or Okinawan cooking /music workshops )on the property . Almost no representation of the local culture .|The beach area is not what we expected , nothing to write home about especially since we are Californians.|However , the on-site helicopter tour was very memorable even though it was pricey .|Overall, we had a relaxing comfy short vacation . Would recommend staying here with families/extended families.

My family stayed here from 20-23 Dec and had a great time. We stayed in the Coral Wing, which is more modern than the Ocean Wing. We had a beautiful ocean view and my kids loved the bunk beds. Staff was very welcoming and the facility is very beautiful. We enjoyed having easy access to the beach and of course the indoor heated pool. My wife enjoyed the 90 minute spa treatment as well. It would be better if they clean the decorative pool more often because it has a lot of leaves in it. I do not believe it is a 5 star resort; I think 4 star is better due to lack of attention to detail for facility upkeep. My family enjoyed the breakfast buffet. We ate lunch at Saltida but the food was mediocre. I like that they offer Okinawan culture workshop at the Lab, but there is no schedule and when it is available the price is too high. Souvenir shops were fun to browse through and the ping pong table was fun for my kids. It is located in a random location. Overall we enjoyed our stay and they catered towards our needs with an infant (supplied a crib and diaper pal).

Food is way overpriced and really bad. Service is well amateurish and can be standoffish. Completely disingenuous and unhelpful, except one or two lovely staff. The beach is the worst I’ve ever been to. Facilities (sauna, jacuzzi) are nonexistent. Our bay wing room was loud due to facing the pool but every room here faces the pool. This is a screaming kids place. We asked for a room change but they wouldn’t offer it for free and asked ¥30,000 more per night!||The hotel was so crowded and I had never seen so much fellow international travelers in one space on our 2-week Japan trip. There are little restaurants within walking distance and nothing to do on Ishigaki apart from touring other islands. Ishigaki itself was also very derelict and undeveloped. Go to Miyakojima instead!

Wow! My wife and I were not expecting such a great stay in Ishigaki in what is essentially winter. The Intercontinental made our 12 days on the island a truly wonderful experience. True Japanese spirit came alive from the moment we checked in and I told reception I had left my new iPhone and glasses in the taxi and I couldn't remember the taxi company (there are a few). Not to worry; they were retrieved within hours with exceptional understanding and kindness. There are two sections to the hotel, the old and the new, and I can only speak of our experiences staying in the new part, where one of the buildings caters for Club Intercontinental guests. It is to be expected in winter that facilities such as swimming pools will be closed, and on a few days it was too cold to swim anyway. That didn't matter, because we were there to relax - walks, read, write and chat over 12 days following a busy 2024. And relax we did! The long walks along the beach and into town were terrific, and picturesque. The lounge, public spaces (new and old building) and various nooks and crannies around the hotel were made for comfort. For art lovers, the decor and pieces of art everywhere are high quality and very tasteful. The shops too were very tasteful - not tacky touristy at all - and included many local Ishigaki items. Our room was exceptional, so staying 11 nights was no problem - there was plenty of space for clothes, the bathroom was modern and large, the bed comfortable and the balcony had great views of the ocean and reef a mere 100 meters away. We also enjoyed watching people play golf on the course right below us! Again, the artwork in the room was beautiful. Every second floor had a laundry, which helped a lot. But what makes a great hotel unforgettable? It's people!. Higashiyama-san and Masubuchi-san manage a great Club Intercontinental lounge and concierge service, and are wonder people to meet and talk to. Their staff, including Sujeewa, Kim, Shiho, Sakura, and others were very generous with their time. Polite, respectful, funny and knowledgeable. Fuji-san at reception was also very helpful and friendly. When you are away from home a lot, meeting people that are almost like family after the first day or two makes you feel warm (it was winter after all!) and want to return. And we will certainly return to Intercontinental Ishigaki because of its people as much as its location and facilities.

This was a lovely hotel that may have a split personality. The Ocean Wing, where the taxi dropped us, seems like the older part of the hotel. It houses the Japanese, Chinese and cafe/buffet restaurants as well as the spa and gym. The Bay Wing, where our room was, was updated and lovely. The room was not overly spacious but had enough room for the 2 beds (no king bed rooms available) and a small couch and a nice view. Beds were comfy. The pools on the Bay side were beautiful and access to the public beach was just a few steps away. The Bay side has a buffet/ala carte restaurant as well as a lounge that offers happy hour. The queuing system for breakfast worked fine even when the buffet seemed to be busy but required a little bit of advanced planning. We made reservations for dinner but nothing seemed overly crowded. The food overall was good/ok. The gym was a little sad but well-equipped. We didn't use the spa but the entranceway did not look at all inviting or relaxing. There is a free shuttle that runs between the 2 wings of the hotel which was great on the nights of pouring rain. There aren't a lot of restaurant options within easy walking distance but the taxi to town was not expensive and provided many more options. The hotel caters primarily to Japanese tourists but there are some English speaking staff.

Our room was large, bright & clean & had all the amenities we needed. The indoor pool & beach were highlights for us with towels + floaties/sand toys available for free. However, upon checkin we were told that the outdoor pool was closed for maintenance & we could not use the pool on the other side of the hotel. It would have been nice to know that prior to booking. There are many food options & they are yum but expensive. Overall, we loved the hotel & we would come back.

We stayed for 4 night in an expensive suite. The furniture were really old and run down. Literally everything is outdated and not really clean. The staff was friendly and tried their best, but often not professional. The children park was a big joke. Nobody used it because it was so bad. The pools unfortunately dirty as well. This was probably the dirtiest pool i ever been. And the neighborhood was really ugly too. Literally the next building to the hotel is a factory with yellow smoke coming out. How can you build a so called 5 star resort in that ugly neighborhood? All the restaurants are serving mediocre food but charge you a fortune for it. You should not eat there. Take a taxi to the city and go to a good restaurant with normal prices. Sadly the worst 5 star hotel we have ever been. Can not recommend it.

We ahead a lovely 2 weeks in this resort. Superb in every way. It has 4 wings ( which is not always clear on the website) We were in the Bay and club wings. Everything was splendid, the breakfast and the club lounge was wonderful. We were there in December. The weather was fantastic for our liking. Beach is ok….a bit stony. Pools nice. Afternoon tea and evening cocktail hours were very sophisticated and enjoyable. Staff there esp Lin, Sakura and Kanye were very helpful to us. Appreciate it guys. Thanks! Cook Bharat at the breakfast was superb too. Golf course was beautifully maintained and was a delight to the eyes. We also went to Taketomi island from the ferry terminal which was a nice day out. And Kabila beach was breathtaking. All in all fantastic stay.
