Anahata Retreat, Ashvem Beach, Goa - Explore & Book

"Named after the heart chakra, Anahata is associated with balance, calmness and serenity: three things you’ll definitely find here. Ensconced by swaying palms to the east, the Arabian Sea to the west, and Mandrem and Morjim beaches to the north and south, it’s a hidden gem within walking distance of Goa’s most popular coastlines. But don't be fooled by the rustic exteriors and laid-back vibe; owners Rishal and Angela play host to a list of chic clientele, from holidaying Londoners to weekenders from Mumbai. The 21 beach cottages and bungalows are concealed amidst an acre of palm grove, the prime spot an Ibiza-style lounge area with perfect sunset views. Ideal for those wanting to connect with people rather than the internet, Anahata hosts a variety of classes and workshops from power yoga to tai chi; 5-rhythms dance to Qigong; as well as offering authentic Ayurvedic massages. Healthy living and eating is encouraged (though happily not enforced), and the L’Atelier restaurant serves fresh salads and delicious European flavours... along with potent cocktails. Everything in perfect balance! Highs Fantastic value - and rates include taxes and breakfastThe thatched cottages are light, spacious and quirkily designed - far superior to the usual dark and pokey offerings in this areaInspiring beach yoga and meditation, as well as an unusual choice of martial arts and mindfulness classesThe location: walking distance from other great restaurants and beaches for a change of scene, yet quiet and undisturbedRishal and Angela are perfect hosts - their love for Goa is infectious Lows No pool and there are rip tides and rocks in the sea, so swimming is trickyNot for tech-junkies - the internet is unreliable and there are no TVs or music systems in the cottages / bungalowsLittle in the way of shade and mosquitoes can be a pain in the evening; bring sunscreen (insect repellent is provided)" - Meg Lambert

This place is absolutely amazing and I can't wait to get back. I've stayed at a lot of five star hotels but this is like such a cozy, nice little beach resort. The rooms are amazing. The restaurant's amazing. The beach is amazing. The whole vibe is just like incredible. I don't do yoga but there's a lot of people here doing yoga which makes me feel healthier + I didn't stay. I stayed at like one of the back bungalows and it was absolutely lovely. Super private super secluded. I know some people are like want that Seaview but this was like absolutely perfect for me. I was in Bangalore for business and I spent the weekend in Goa and rented. They rented a moped for me at the front desk and I went all over Northern Goa and it was absolutely incredible. If you get a chance to come here you should come and if you come then you should stay here.

ME and my wife went to this place to spend a couple of nights. We wanted to stay away from the usual crowded areas and hence selected this place. The location is amazing, rigth on the beach. The property is small but makes you feel super cozy and pampered. The cottage we stayed in was clean and upto the mark in most of the areas. The in-house hotel, L-atelier serves good food and the service is prompt as well. The beach is right in front of you and makes it super enjoyable too. Amazing place and location. Would definitely to stay here again whenever I get a chance to come back to Goa.

The staff and restaurant were extremely good, a very well organised and clean place for a holiday with the family.||The food was exceptional with good quality ingredients.|We had specially asked for lobster which was organised fresh from the sea and served to us at lunch. ||The housekeeping staff was very sweet and warm. ||Hope to visit again soon.

the room was not up to the standards at all. not worth the money, the AC was constantly leaking and made the whole floor wet, there was not enough shower gel, the shower was leaking uncontrollably it was not at all pleasant, it made the whole washroom wet. maybe the time we visited was not the best but still the place was infested with ants and the food was super expensive while it was not even that good. 2/10 experience only the location was good. do not recommend this place for families and stuff.

Had a lovely stay here. Close to beach. Surfing school. Access to shacks and restaurants is good. Food is OK. Coffee is great. They have free yoga classes every morning which is great. No swimming pool.

Staff is nice and rooms are nice, beach is amazing and quiet area. Did not appreciate that when I asked for extra Yoga classes was told the price would be 40 usd per person - then when I said this was expensive the front desk dropped the price to 30 usd. My friend and I found a great class next door at a different resort for 7 usd per person. Disappointed that the resort we spent a lot of money on would try to over charge by so much.

This place is decent overall, barring some serious hygiene issues & view from the sea facing cottages. They apparently have 3 sea facing cottages. While the view is great from 2 of them , one is essentially a trees facing cottage with the SAME tariff. So that was quite a flop show despite being assured over the phone by the Sales Manager that the view would be excellent & same from the two rooms that we had booked . So do not go either by the images on the website completely or by his word. Upon voicing our dissatisfaction quite politely (as captured on camera as well) , the Sales Manager had a complete meltdown at the reception in front of everyone & started yelling , asking us to go find a place elsewhere despite being told several times to lower the volume & take a deep breath. So that was a bit shocking for us because one expects a professional at the front desk of such an established property rather than an amateur who can’t handle customers concerns at all & goes into a strange spiral , shouting that he has been in the industry for a decade , etc. while fuming & palpitating. I hope the owners get better people to manage the property because while we understand that someone could be having a bad day but it’s not really our job on a holiday to deal with such random melt downs when we bring our concerns to their notice. Secondly , hygiene is a big issue there. They don’t even bother to wash water bottles at all . The bottles they keep in the rooms are very dirty . But the good thing is that when we brought this issue to their concern , they atleast fixed it for us. Breakfast menu is quite elaborate with good options but they are quite understaffed & half the things are usually unavailable . Our sea view cottage , Hawa had a brilliant view while Kalinda was an absolute flop show. Their complementary yoga class is good though . Mandrem beach is clean & the walks are a pleasant experience . The house keeping staff is polite , prompt & courteous in general. The restaurant has a great view of the sea. If you’re phobic to dogs , avoid this place.

Beautiful setting right off the beach. The staff were absolutely lovely, and the breakfast included in the price outstanding - so much variety! The free morning yoga on a platform, overlooking the sea, was such a bonus. Only downside was our room, which looked a little tired and required a little attention to detail like the inclusion of a shelf to put toiletries in the shower area. Definitely needs sprucing up.
