We had a mixed experience at Anahata Retreat. We'd planned a three-night stay but ended up leaving a night early.||First, the positives, which are significant:||The staff are wonderful and very attentive. The included breakfast is simple but delicious coffee, pancakes a yummy too!||The beachfront location is nice, and the property grounds are lush and well-kept.||We really enjoyed the complimentary morning yoga sessions with sea view and outdoors.||However, we faced several challenges that impacted our stay:||Room Condition (Lakshmi Room): Our room had a lovely view but was in need of significant updates. The windows were difficult to open and close, and we noticed stained curtains and towels. The major issue was a leaking air conditioner on our second night, which made noise, splashed water onto the wall and leaked on the floor. We had to sleep with just a fan, but the staff offered to move us to a different room the next morning.||Bathroom Issue: On our final morning, the shower drain flooded the entire bathroom floor.||Location Context: The beach has dark sand and isn't as swimmable as other destinations like Thailand and Indonesia where we stayed before. While the area has a few places within walking distance, it may not have the charm some travelers are seeking. Be prepared for a long (90+ minute) and somewhat hectic drive from the GOI airport, though this seems common for North Goa.||The staff were responsive and did offer to move us to a newer, much nicer room after the aircon failure. It was clear that better-maintained rooms are available, and it was disappointing that we weren't assigned one initially.||We briefly met the owners and they were very friendly! We believe they have good intentions. With some crucial upgrades to the older rooms and better maintenance, this place could truly shine. However, based on our experience in the room, we cannot recommend it in its current state.
