Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort

This was the most incredible island experience I have had so far. I cant fauly anything about the hotel. I read one or two negative reviews on bookings and Tripadvisor and I can confidently say you don't know what you are talking about. We received a welcoming dance on the beach as we arrived with refreshing drinks and towels. Every little detail was personalised. The staff where so friendly and attentive. The view was spectacular. The hotel room was so clean and big, even the mini bar was free, lets not mention your own direct beach access. The food was so delicious with a massive variety to choose from. There where many activities to choose from so you never got bored. If you are looking for a peaceful, serene holiday this is the place to go. Thank you Anantara Bazurto!!!

My wife and I stayed here for five nights in July. From start to finish we found everything to be well organized, professional and personable. We opted for the boat ride to and from the island. The crew were all very helpful and ensured our transition from the boat to land was smooth. We had an ocean front room with a private pool. The view was stunning and the access to the beautiful beach was only a few steps away. There is plenty to do there and scheduling activities is easy. We mostly chilled at the spa, but we went snorkeling as well. Again, the boat crew were great as were the reefs and fish. The water was a little chilly for us and we should have taken the wet suit. Next time. The food was great and the service was impeccable. They go out of their way to individualize each experience. If we every make it back to Mozambique we will be sure to stay here again.

I have to admit, I am not a morning person, so having the lodge face West, meant that I could enjoy spectacular sun sets over the sea between the mainland and the lodge. I love that the beach units alternate one forward one back which enhances your privacy.||||Clearly the lodge is ideally positioned with the imposing sand dunes on the east coast and the immaculate white sandy beach which stretches for miles. The high/low tides being a different but interesting challenge so remember to bring slops or shoes you don’t mind getting wet. The staff are super friendly and keen to assist anytime. Perhaps lean a few Portuguese phrases to make your interaction a bit easier.||||We made use of the 6 hour visit to Paradise Island and were treated like royalty - give it a try.||||Although there are quite few mozzies, it is not a Malaria area, but do bring anti-mozzie spray. The beds do have mozzie nets. ||

A very enjoyable 4 night stay … Staff are excellent, all very friendly and helpful. ||The location of the hotel is great and they do offer lots of activities. We had a day whale watching and island hopping which was absolutely brilliant. We often had the beaches to ourselves and the staff prepared a fantastic bbq for us for lunch. Horse riding on the beach or watching the sunrise from the dunes all leave you with lovely memories. ||The food was very good - some reviews mentioned that there isn’t enough variety but we didn’t have that issue. There was enough choice for us to eat different things on all the days we were there. ||The spa was very good - Helena especially is excellent. She went out of her way to accommodate us. ||In terms of improvements I think the boardwalk needs some work (others have mentioned this too). The distressed look is very beachy but there are parts that are in need of repair and can injure children or any walking barefoot, esp in the night. ||We had a two bedroom villa - it’s a little dated and in need of more usb charging points… the second bedroom especially only had large 3 pin sockets so even our adapters didn’t work. |And lastly whilst everything was provided on request, I think staff can be more proactive in refilling things in your fridge or the toiletries in your bathroom. I think these are all small things but can make a big difference. ||Overall great value for money especially compared to other resorts we looked at. |Bazaruto is a beautiful place and highly recommended for anyone looking for rest and relaxation.

I highly recommend Anantara Bazaruto Island. We had an amazing stay. Everything was perfect from the moment we arrived till checkout. There are plenty of activities to do: snorkeling, diving, safari, sand boarding on the dunes, cooking class, horseback riding on the beach and much more! You will not get bored at all. The food was delicious and fresh.

Waking up to the sound of the waves and watching the sunrise from our private deck was an unforgettable experience. What truly sets Anantara Bazaruto apart is the impeccable service. Every staff member went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect—friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm. The food was exceptional, with fresh seafood, Mozambican flavors, and beautifully presented meals every day. We loved the range of activities offered—from snorkeling and dolphin watching to horseback rides on the beach and indulgent spa treatments with ocean views. There was a perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. This resort isn’t just a destination—it’s an experience. Anantara Bazaruto is ideal for couples, families, or anyone looking to disconnect and recharge in paradise. We can’t wait to return.

From the moment we arrived, everything about our stay was exceptional. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, with elegantly appointed rooms and thoughtful little touches that made all the difference.||||We were greeted with a refreshing welcome drink and a vibrant traditional dance performance that immediately made us feel special. The staff were incredibly attentive and consistently ensured our group’s needs were met with warmth and professionalism.||||Each evening, mosquito nets were carefully arranged, and essentials like remotes were thoughtfully placed on our beds—small details that added to our comfort. ||||A heartfelt thank you to the team for the special farewell. The staff waited to say goodbye and waved us off until our boat departed—a gesture that deeply touched us and perfectly concluded our stay.||||The only area that could use some attention is the replenishment of in-room amenities such as toilet paper, bottled water, and coffee, etc. Ensuring these are consistently restocked would make the experience flawless.||||Thank you to everyone who played a part in looking after our group. This experience will stay with us forever!

Incredible location with superb ocean view from every room. Service and room condition are not always at five star level which is the reason for the 4 out of 5 instead of 5/5.|We experienced nearly all extra activities offered (spa, dune surf and several snorkelling tour). All great although quite pricey (considering the cost of the hotel, would seem reasonable to offer those at a discounted value as they are important to fully benefit of the exceptional location). ||We experienced a few issues when we arrived and resolution could have been faster considering the level of the hotel.||Food and drink option altough reasonably good could be improved (particularly the breakfast and evening buffet which are not always replenished with some cold food).||Anyhow the incredible location helps to forget all the minor issues experienced during the stay but value for money could be improved a bit following our recommendations.
