13 Best Hotels in Phuket, Thailand

"This is fly-and-flop territory: Anantara Mai Khao’s location, just a 20-minute drive from the international airport, means you can be on your padded lounger within an hour of landing. But there are other reasons to love this long-standing Thai brand favorite, from the feeling of being immersed in nature (a majority of the resort is a lilypad-dotted lagoon, filled with monitor lizards and flowers), to the long golden-sand beach, lapped by fun-sized waves. If you’re seeking privacy, look no further—each of the huge 83 villas is surrounded by tall walls; within is a sizable outdoor pool, shaded shala, and stone outdoor bathtub, big enough for two. Elegant and pared-back interiors create a sense of calm, the spa, with its treatment rooms strung out across the lagoon, will help with that, too. Families love dining beachside, but for a more grown-up evening, try the treehouse, a Japanese omakase, with fish freshly flown in from Japan. —Hannah Summers" - Chris Schalkx

Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas

"A large private pool, an outdoor tub for two, and an alfresco dining sala are standard room fare at this resort built along Phuket’s longest beach. The 83 high-ceilinged villas are done up with natural fibers, and there are plenty of plush components: a pillowtop bed canopied by mosquito netting, a walk-in closet, an expansive bathroom with French doors leading to the outdoor soak, as well as overwater decks with daybeds in some villas. Landscape artist Bill Bensley lavished the grounds with indigenous greenery but kept the look authentic. In between the copious breakfast spread and sunset cocktails in the Infinity Bar, guests can venture out for cave canoeing, diving, or touring a village being rebuilt since the 2004 tsunami. A packed schedule of on-site activities includes power walks, batik painting, tai chi, and basic sailing."

Wow just incredible hotel resort, one of the best I have ever had the pleasure to stay at. My wife and I stayed only one night for our anniversary and we loved it. The room was a large size, spacious and luxurious. The attention to detail was incredible, there was nothing that was not thought about for their customers stay. The service from the staff on arrival right up to check-out time was truly wonderful. The customers experience is the resorts highest priority. We absolutely loved our stay and highly recommend to couples or families to consider a stay here as well. We will return for a longer stay with our family agin in the near future.

We had heard some really nice words about this property & needless to say it deserves every single word of praise said/ written about it !! ||The way the whole place is designed is so soothing to soul & eyes. The team is so well groomed & are always there to welcome you & help with a genuine & heartwarming smile. The food experience at LaSala, the beach, the walk around the property...everything enhances the experience you look forward to when you opt for such place !! ||We opted for Private villas which were absolutely class. Extremely spacious with a lovely pool. ||The Turtle village, just a few metres away from the property has a few nice eating joints too & is very clean & safe to visit. ||We could not have asked for anything more !! My special praise for Beer, View & our butler Sunny.

We travel to Thailand regularly and have stayed at many high-end resorts across the country – but Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas truly stands out. Our villa was stunning, offering complete privacy, refined design, and breathtaking views. The level of service was outstanding: discreet, professional, and always attentive. A special mention goes to POR the concierge assigned to us, who was available at all times and supported us perfectly, even helping with personal arrangements like organizing a private diving tour. This was already our second stay – and certainly not the last. If you're looking for true relaxation in an exceptional setting, this is the place.

Definitely one of the best villas that I've ever stayed in! Stayed at the One Bedroom Pool Villa, and it was an incredible experience. The villa was spacious, beautifully designed with a blend of modern comfort and traditional Thai elements, making it feel both luxurious and authentic. The private pool and serene atmosphere made it the perfect escape — quiet, peaceful, and truly private. The only downside is the resort is situated very far away from Phuket city. The staff were exceptional, always warm, attentive, and helpful throughout the stay. Breakfast at Taurus could use a bit more variety, but their lunch was delicious and definitely worth trying. Overall, a fantastic stay. If you’re looking for a tranquil getaway with top-notch service, Anantara Mai Khao is highly recommended!

My husband and I recently stayed at this beautiful hotel, and we couldn’t be happier with our experience. The service was excellent, and the property is spacious, lush, and incredibly peaceful. We stayed in a private pool villa, which offered a perfect blend of comfort and privacy. The serene lagoon surrounding the resort added to the overall charm and created a truly immersive Thai atmosphere. The hotel has everything you might need: a long beach, a beautiful pool, and a quiet, relaxing vibe. We highly recommend trying the spa—especially the massage and milk bath experience. It was absolutely wonderful and added to the feeling of total relaxation. Just be sure to book in advance, as spots can fill up quickly. Don’t forget to check out the hotel activities as well. We tried the yoga, stretching class, which we really enjoyed. Unfortunately, the timing of most activities wasn’t ideal for us, so we couldn’t take full advantage of them. It would be great if they offered more flexible or varied scheduling. We also felt the hotel could use a bit more entertainment, especially since it’s quite far from the main attractions and there’s not much to do in the evenings. There were just a couple of small downsides. While the villa was spacious and private, it could use some light renovations. Also, the outdoor bathtub next to the pool wasn’t the best idea—it tends to get dirty, and when we arrived, it wasn’t spotless (though the staff fixed it immediately). If you’re planning to relax by the main pool, just be aware that it can occasionally get a bit noisy due to the number of russian families—something we noticed throughout Phuket. The food was overall very good. Breakfast was fantastic, and the service was always warm and attentive. We tried the Japanese restaurant, Sea Fire Salt, the Indian restaurant, and a Mexican place just next to the hotel—all of them were excellent. Unfortunately, the room service food was not the best—it lacked the quality and flavor we experienced at the restaurants. Overall, it was a great and relaxing experience—we definitely recommend it!
