Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel (Vienna, Austria) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Though the Thailand-based Anantara brand made its name with a series of East Asian luxury resorts, it’s recently expanded into some European capitals, with equally impressive results. Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel stands right on the Ringstrasse, and occupies a 19th-century structure designed by Baron Theophil Edvard von Hansen." - Tablet Hotels

Iconic cakes worth travelling for - SilverKris

"A luxury Vienna hotel known for theatrical dessert presentations, most notably a metre-long apple strudel that is wheeled through the lobby to invite guests to enjoy a traditional Austrian jause with generous dollops of whipped cream." - SilverKris

We had the most incredible experience at Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna with their private masterclass making traditional Viennese apple strudel with patisserie chef Pierre Zani.||I arranged this experience as a birthday surprise for my husband, as he has always dreamed of visiting Vienna and learning how to make authentic apple strudel. It truly could not have been any better.||From the moment we arrived, everything felt special and luxurious. We were welcomed with beautiful cakes, drinks, balloons, and refreshments, which instantly set the tone for a memorable experience. The attention to detail was outstanding.||Chef Pierre Zani was absolutely fantastic — incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about his craft. He guided us through every step of the process, explaining the history and techniques behind traditional Viennese apple strudel. All ingredients were perfectly prepared and pre-weighed, making the experience both enjoyable and relaxed.||What made it even more special was that our 9-year-old daughter absolutely loved it too. She was fully engaged and had such a wonderful time.||We cannot recommend this experience highly enough. If you are looking for a truly special culinary experience in Vienna ! 10/10

I spent a wonderful three nights at the Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna, and it was a truly unforgettable experience and a perfect way to celebrate my birthday. I was welcomed with an incredibly delicious birthday cake — a light, airy soufflé that was absolutely divine. The room was perfect, thoughtfully designed down to the smallest detail: touch-control bath and shower, heated floors, premium cosmetics, very soft slippers in two sizes, and everything you could possibly need. The room design and finishes were exceptional — there was absolutely nothing to criticise. The only thing that felt slightly out of place was the Valera hairdryer, which seemed outdated for such a luxurious hotel. Breakfast was a true work of art. The presentation was stunning, and the dishes were exceptional — shakshuka, an avocado toast with cottage cheese, and many other beautiful options. A huge thank you to the restaurant staff: the tall, young, curly-haired waiter for his excellent service and constant smile, and to Iana from Ukraine for her warm and attentive attitude. The food selection was amazing, and one of the smoothies — the passion fruit one — completely stole my heart. At reception, I would like to highlight Manuel — incredibly friendly, attentive, and very helpful with extending my stay. Unfortunately, the young lady working the shift before him did not leave the same impression and wasn’t even aware of the happy hours. Regarding the restaurant in the evening: there were only two staff members working during a full house at happy hours. We ordered champagne and asked for two glasses to be brought at once, but the waitress refused, explaining that the second glass could only be served after we finished the first one — which sounded quite strange. The spa is small but very cozy. The large pool works like a giant jacuzzi — a perfect place to relax. Overall, the hotel is fantastic — service, location, atmosphere, and attention to detail were all exceptional. I’m leaving with wonderful memories.

The hotel was located close to all major tram and train lines. Close to shopping and dining. Staff was friendly and helpful. Great for English speakers who struggle with German. Spa was top tier! I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay again during our next trip.

The Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel delivers a truly luxurious experience from the moment you arrive. The lobby and bar area are absolutely beautiful — elegant yet inviting — and the overall ambiance reflects classic Viennese sophistication with a modern touch. The breakfast was excellent, offering a generous and varied selection of both local and international dishes. (A small suggestion: adding potato vodka to the bar menu would be a welcome touch for guests who appreciate regional gluten-free spirits.) Our suite was spacious, beautifully appointed, and full of light, with soaring ceilings that added to the grandeur. Every detail felt carefully considered — from the plush towels and luxury bath products to the Dyson hairdryer and styling tools, which were a thoughtful surprise and very convenient. Throughout our stay, the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, contributing to the warm, welcoming atmosphere that made our visit so enjoyable. This is an outstanding hotel in every respect — combining classic elegance, modern comfort, and attentive service in one of Vienna’s most distinguished settings.

I had a wonderful experience at the bar in the Anantara Hotel Vienna! The atmosphere was elegant yet relaxed, and the drinks and food were great. A special thanks to Ray, the bartender — she was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made me feel truly welcome. Her positive energy and professionalism made the day even more enjoyable. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Excellent experience. Located in Vienna‘s first district, at Schottenring. Hotel offers excellently appointed rooms, an excellent gym, an equally excellent spa and pool. Food is also excellent, with breakfast being outstanding. Guest relations top notch!

Room wasn’t ready when I arrived. I was asked to wait about 15 mins — not even a glass of water offered! After 45 mins I went for an update. The person who asked me to wait had finished his shift. The new person checked me in. ||||The room was cold. Heating off. The preferences requested in advance ignored. Heating was loud!||||Room service was difficult to use. The order didn’t go through well. Soup was fine but gnocchi was weird. ||||At night after turning fan speed low there as a strange bleeping sound. Lighting was inconvenient and options not good. Minibar light didn’t turn off properly. ||||In the morning, coffee machine not working. ||||Problems with shower reported to hotel. ||||At checkout they removed most extras from my bill and sounded like they cared. ||||But a 5* in Vienna shouldn’t be like this.

One of the best hotels I stayed in. My recent trip to Austria I stayed for 6 nights and another single night. The staff working there were very pleasant. Special thanks to the concierge for arranging many of our transportation. Not to mention the receptionists who were there for us all the time. The lobby restaurant was phenomenal. I had their schnitzel when I arrived and my last dinner there. And for sure the bar baristas who made me espressos everyday. Special thanks to Kasper who was really helpful the day I booked our rooms. The doormen who greeted us whenever we came. Definitely I will stay again

Yelp
Just got back from Vienna and stayed here 3 nights. It's now called Anantara Palais. It's a beautiful spacious hotel-big luxurious rooms, amazing bathrooms and the staff is super courteous and helpful. The breakfast and bar are amazing too. I loved my stay and would stay here again.

Yelp
We stayed here for 4 nights in late November. The room was huge with a few of a courtyard? I felt this was more of a corporate travel hotel than a vacation hotel. Service in the main lounge was spotty. Breakfast was perfect to start the day. But other than that. I'd look for a more friendly traveler hotel.

Yelp
Excellent service - great location. Walked pretty much everywhere from our hotel. Missed the Michelin star restaurant but drinks in the lobby was nice. Some late night snacks were good, as well. Concierge was always helpful as well as bellman.

Yelp
THE best hotel in Wien, bar none. We saw the other ones and we settled on Palais Hansen Kempinski for a 5 night glorious stay. We had an Amex Platinum upgrade to a larger deluxe room, whisper quiet - high ceilings, comfy beds, lovely bathroom with Ferragamo toiletries, splendid, large walk in shower, and the service - unparalleled. The concierge, Thomas (Clef d'Or), will assist with anything and he will do it with a smile. Overall, the staff manages to balance their Viennese charm with precision and hyperefficiency. The hotel is also located in a calmer area, away from the worst tourist noise. The breakfast buffet is sumptuous, as is Edvard, the Michelin starred restaurant where we had our goodbye dinner. We would never stay anywhere else in Wien. A total Wienner!!!

Yelp
My husband, daughter, and I stayed 3 nights at the Vienna Kempinski this past week and had a fantastic time. -- Everyone is super friendly. -- Rooms aren't enormous but are well appointed and spotless. -- Breakfast buffet was included in our rate (thank you American Express) and it was definitely one of the best I've ever had. I ate so much at breakfast every day that I didn't eat until dinner. Love that it was open until 2pm on weekends. -- The hotel let us check in early (10 am). -- Hotel lobby is a nice place to lounge. -- Internet was included in our American Express package. -- Pool was small but stunning. -- Gym was great. -- Location is convenient. Can't wait to visit Vienna again so I can stay at this lovely hotel.

Yelp
Very trendy place. Front door staff very good but on my check out the gentleman was pushy about me taking a taxi to the airport and told him I had no Euros I had American money he said no problem. Not only a problem but charged twice the amount than Uber Room is clean but this ordeal left a bad experience I wouldn't return

Yelp
I booked a manicure while staying at the Kempinski. It cost $100 CAN -65€. I have had better manicures for a third of the price. The spa itself was clean and the staff friendly. My manicurist struggled with applying the polish and getting clean edges around the cuticle area. She was very young and seemed nervous so I did not want to say anything, but I feel a spa of this caliber should make sure there aestheticians are competent and well trained. The room was too hot and there was no background music - which some people may prefer, but there was a stereo so I wonder why there was no 'spa like music' playing? After I left I noticed that several nails weren't even fully painted and everything chipped within 24 hours. I have had A LOT of manicures so I know a good one from a bad one. I would have left satisfied had the 'spa' experience felt special and worth the money but it did not. I can't speak to their other services but if you want a good manicure don't go here. Do some research (as I should have) and find a spot in the city that does a quality job for less. This review is for the spa only. The hotel is fantastic.

Yelp
Excellent Hotel. True 5 stars. Don't think just book This time the Yelp reviews are spot on. This hotel is truly excellent! I travel 100 days a year or more and this is one of the best hotels I have stayed in in a while. Most don't live up to the reviews and this place exceeds them. I had a suite and I could just live in it. Quiet with an excellent staff and great breakfast what else can you ask for and i am tough on hotel reviews. Book with confidence

Yelp
Aah Kempinsky! You luxury five star hotel! The staff here are great and very welcoming from start to finish. It's exactly the way it should be. As a GHA Platinum member I was bumped up to deluxe room which was good. The room was suitable for such a hotel - clean, spacious, well equipped. The real gem of this hotel though is the food. Edvards (in which I dined) boasts a Michelin star and so well it may! The food was delicious, but it's not for the cash conscious traveller - a meal with a couple of drinks sets you back around 250 euro. The breakfast buffet is also nice!

Yelp
I can only echo the other superlative reviews of this exceptional hotel. The entire staff could not have been more accommodating, friendly and professional, from the exceptional "ladies in red", to Roman, the head of the food service team. We were celebrating our 25th anniversary. There were rose petals on our bed (in the shape of a heart) and an indescribably delicious chocolate mousse cake with red frosting in our suite when we arrived. The hotel upgraded us to a sumptuous suite (thank you American Express!), which was glorious. Again, thanks to Amex, breakfast was included and it was a feast, which we looked forward to every morning. We are well-traveled. Our takeaway was that this hotel might well be one of the best hotels in the world. Staying there was a memorable experience.

Yelp
This is one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in. The staff is friendly, warm, and welcoming, and our room is gorgeous. We mentioned we were here on our honeymoon, and they welcomed us with champagne when we arrived as well as with a bottle of champagne (and chocolates!) in our room. Wonderful amenities in the room, gorgeous pool and spa, central location in Vienna, and a super comfortable bed. The shower is amazing and modern with automated switches on the wall, and the hotel has a fantastic view of the city. Couldn't ask for more.

Yelp
SUPER hotel, exactly as expected from Kempinski. Stayed in the Ring Suite; dog friendly, absolutely perfect service and accommodations. The spa is also very nice, the staff go out of their way to make your stay superb. The suite was extraordinary. iPad access for television, room service, lights, etc. Great concierge service, helped me to book a Danube river liner tour and was ever so helpful. Also got my dog extra chews :) Wherever I travel in the world, if I can stay at Kempinski I know it will just be without compare.

Yelp
Equisite hotel truly five star service & amenities The hotel is focused on flawless service and elegant ambience. The hotel caters to the discerning client and yet treats each guest as if she or he is important. We tend to dress extremely casually when we travel and yet this hotel treated us as well as if we were chiquely dressed. This is important to us and brings us back to a place. The spa is lovely and my husband used the sauna and other facilities daily. They are technologically advanced; whereby one does not need to place a card outside the door indicating "do not disturb" or "please clean the room" but by the press of a button inside the room, it is indicated outside the room. They deliver water each night with the night service. The service was excellent and the staff was fantastic, friendly, and helpful. It is also wonderful that they are dog-friendly, it made my husband and I smile to see the dogs on occasion in the lobby. (We love this about Europe, the forward thinking attitude toward canine companions.) All-in-all a great hotel, one we will definitely return to. The only area that could be improved upon is that the breakfast buffet is not vegan friendly and expensive. However, Vienna is an amazing city that has incredible vegan food and a wonderful restuarant just around the corner from the hotel, Yamm, was a place we visited daily.

Yelp
If any hotel could be described as perfect this one fits the bill. Refined, elegant surroundings with an attentive staff eager to please. Beautiful rooms with incredible high tech showers. Dining is marvelous from breakfast to a Michelin dinner at Edwards.
