Travel Pro: Taking to the waves with Lauren L. Hill - SilverKris

"A barrier island off the Florida coast where she grew up and spent much of her childhood at the beach; a small, close-knit community with few pastimes, it became the setting where she discovered surfing at 13. Family influence — a father who had surfed in Hawaii — and constant access to the ocean made the spot formative, turning surfing from a pastime into a life-defining practice that launched a competitive stint and later a career as a free surfer and storyteller." - Nick Measures

State park has great beach access. Rumor has it the campground is outstanding too. Must be because it is difficult to get a reservation here.

All around great beach for just about anything. You can rent kayaks, canoes, & small sail boats. There is a small charge for entering the park. Definitely with the drive for a visit!

Beautiful location - wide beaches - sandbars - plenty of parking (provided its not a holiday) - bathrooms - places to rinse off the sand - and during certain hours there is a refreshment stand open. In addition to the beach there are trails for hiking along historic sites and seasonal drive-in movies shown on an inflated screen! Park is open Dawn till Dusk. Two thumbs up!

Awesome location, I love the beaches on Anastasia. I used to live on the island a long time ago, but I still get over there quite a bit to this day. Attached is a photo of the dunes near Pope rd I took a few days ago.

Kids had so much fun. Just a long walk from parking lot to the beach.
