I have spent two nights in Ankara's And Hotel, is fine but what really annoyed me is the fact that with little effort it could have been an excellent accommodation. The really good points of And Hotel are the location in the heart of the newly restored Ottoman Citadel called Kahle (meaning Castle) and the cleanliness of the premises. ||The location is good for its authenticity (which is hard to find in a newly built city as Ankara), furthermore the interiors of the hotel are generally consistent with the Ottoman style thus making the place a pleasant experience for those looking for genuinely local style. ||I was in the suite which is very big, including a double bedroom a clean and newly refurbished bathroom with a properly working shower (with only minor signs of rust, but barely noticeable) and white, clean towels. The suite also includes a TV room with a rather old sofa-bed and a kitchen which is fully working but does not have any kind of cooking appliance (rather surprisingly). overall the building is very good if it wasn't for all the electric cables hanging from the walls which seem rather unsafe, hopefully they will have repaired these soon.||On the more negative side, the AC was not working in the suite, and this could be an issue if you are visiting in the summer. The TV had only very few and Turkish-speaking channels accessible.||The real issue is the customer service. When I arrived in Ankara I had troubles finding the place and giving directions to the taxi driver. Therefore, I made a call to the place but the person who answered was only speaking Turkish and then hanged without giving indications. Once I made it to the place (paying double the taxi due to wrong indications) the same person in charge of the reception was not opening the door of the place, notwithstanding the fact that I was knocking on the door repeatedly. Eventually he did open the door and then took a while before he could find my reservation (made with booking.com). Eventually we managed to figure things out even though he would not be able to speak one word (literally not one) of English. ||The other negative aspect is noise. The same person in charge at the reception had a very loud voice and has been on the phone one floor down to my room almost the whole night, I have asked for silence or at least keeping the voice down, but the request was unattended. Noise also comes from the street which is populated till late night by young people talking loudly. At dawn the mosque just across the road will call for prayer, which is very characteristic but equally loud.||Finally, the breakfast is decent but rather minimal, one cucumber and one tomato sliced on a plate, four small pieces of locally made cheese with a small portion of honey. It all comes with a one egg omelette. Coffee was soluble, and tasted very bad. Tea is also available.||I recommend this place if you speak Turkish (or you are mime artist!), you don't mind noise, and want to get a feeling of genuine ottoman style. ||I would discourage you to choose the place if you are looking for quiet and need to figure out things quickly with the reception. ||Overall it worked fine and price was reasonable, but with a little effort could have been better, way better. Close to the Hotel there are one or two restaurants and coffee places with an excellent view of the city, recommended at dusk.
