Andaz Munich Schwabinger Tor (Munich, Bavaria) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Schwabing, one of Munich’s most upscale residential areas, is known for fashionable shops, sleek restaurants, and chic wine bars, and the Andaz Munich Schwabinger Tor fits in perfectly. The generously sized rooms have all the luxurious features you’d expect (and maybe some you wouldn’t), like black-out curtains, Illy coffee machines, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a complimentary mini bar with non-alcoholic drinks and snacks. With a popular steakhouse, hip café, and the city’s highest rooftop bar, this boutique-style luxury hotel has become something of a destination in its own right. Spa lovers will appreciate the two-story spa and fitness center, with its view over the Alps from the sundeck." - Tablet Hotels

We were traveling across Germany and Switzerland for a family vacation. We decided to spend two nights in Munich. The location isn't the best for sight seeing but EVERYTHING thing else about this place is outstanding. We just took Uber to get around which was fine. |I am a Hyatt Globalist so not sure how much my experience might differ from others. We got upgraded to a corner suite with a great view. The room was incredible. So spacious and luxurious. I have status with multiple hotel chains and I have stayed in many nice hotels. This hotel is one of the higher end accommodations. |Service is impeccable. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. They brought me a cold beer upon arrival while I was checking in . |The place is very clean.|The breakfast was outstanding. Huge buffet area with so many options. And delicious!|Would definitely come back here to the Andaz if I return to Munich.

The Andaz Munich Schwabinger Tor is a fantastic hotel with a truly modern atmosphere in the north neighborhood of the Munich. We were very pleased with the service and hospitality from the great staff of this hotel. Larissa and Sebastian, at the front desk, made sure our stay was comfortable and that we were satisfied with the accommodations. Lilian and Rosana in the restaurant were amazing, making sure everything was to our satisfaction. They and the other staff worked hard to ensure we were provided with the best service possible. We will definitely recommend this hotel as a great place to stay in the historic city of Munich.

My husband and I stayed at Andaz Munich for a total of five nights. From the very moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. Arriving hours before normal check-in from an overnight flight, Cara was able to check us in early so we could take a nap before exploring the town. Our room was super clean and pristine, with crisp bedding and all the modern luxuries (including motorized curtains). We loved the proximity to the English Garden, and the bike rentals really helped us feel like a local. It truly felt like home, and we can't wait to go back one day.

Absolutely phenomenal service from start to finish! From the front desk team who gave us fantastic recommendations for things to do, to the bar staff who went out of their way to make special mocktails for my kids so they could feel like VIPs, every interaction was thoughtful and warm. Even at breakfast, when we weren’t on the list, the host didn’t miss a beat—welcoming us to sit while they sorted it out with a smile. And to top it off, the general manager personally came over to say hello during happy hour.||||What a truly wonderful experience! Hands down, this is the best stay I’ve ever had at a Hyatt.

Second stay for us (family) this Summer, upgraded ourselves to Andaz suites at our second stay, both king bed standard room and the suite are great, love the design, not extravagant but very practical and trendy, more comfortable than those with heavy use of marble and stones! One of the best hotels that we have ever stayed. Staff are friendly and welcoming, need to mention their Manager, Nickolas, who has set a high standard for their guests, bringing this Andaz to another level. Everything, from checking in, housekeeping, drinks and breakfast are seamless, food choice at breakfast is exceptional! I love this hotel and will even make a trip to Munich for it. Thank you.

If I can put 6 stars I did it. Hotel is really gorgeous. Big rooms, new and very nice design. Hotel has swimming pool, Spa and gym as well a very nice bar at the top with views over all Munich. Service is amazing. The best I ever seen. Always smiling, proactive and willing to help you. They really go beyond the expectation. I organized at arrival my room very well and put my soaps, tooth brush, some medicine and face creams... In the toilette. The cleaning people organized even better and cleaned in that area. Really amazing hotel. I recommend you 110%

This was my our first stay at an Andaz property and I was excited to try the brand out. After this stay, I don't think I need to stay at an Andaz again. Room was booked on points, and it seemed to be overpriced. We stayed at three other Hyatt's during this Europe trip (2 of which were Regency) and they were a much better value, more luxurious and better experience by far. The rooms at the Andaz were a strange configuration, with the bathroom in the middle of the room, surrounded by see-thru glass on three sides. Anyone else in the room could see you showering. The "stocked mini-bar" consisted of water, 2 sodas, and 1 small pack of chips. Yes, it was refilled daily, but still - a bit underwhelming. There was no clock on the night stand and the breakfast didn't start until 7am. The other Hyatt's we stayed at had a 6am breakfast start time which enabled us to get breakfast before heading out for day trips. We stayed 4 nights at Andaz and only had time for breakfast twice due to the later start time. There is a tram right outside the hotel which is easy, but you will need to transfer to subway/bus/other trams to get anywhere. It was an OK stay..nothing special though. For the price/points, it didn't seem worth it.

The art suite was elegant, spacious and had everything we need for a comfortable stay with children. Sparkling clean and quiet. Coffee machine and water in the room were appreciated after a long travel. The location of the hotel is perfect to explore Munich.

Yelp
We stayed in two rooms, one was the luxury accommodations in the suite on the 5th floor and a smaller king room on the second floor (with a trip to Salzburg in the middle). There is a world class spa (largest in Europe in a hotel). There is a nice and generous self-serve happy hour between 5-6pm with free wines and German lager. The rooms were clean and well equipped except the Chromecast function on the TVs didn't work for us limiting us to just a small handful of English-speaking channels (mostly news stations like CNN). Not a big deal since we weren't traveling to watch TV, but it would have been nice to be able to unwind to a movie on Netflix instead of having to face the real world via listening to the news. We were able to sleep well in the beds and the curtains blocked most of the light nicely so we didn't wake up at 5am every morning. There was a decent restaurant but avoid the pricier "dry aged" steaks if you are used to fine American steakhouses. The dry aged steak lacked flavor and could be more tender but was cooked to the right temp. There's a nice coffee shop attached with friendly service, good coffee, and even alcoholic beverages to enjoy in the afternoon or evenings. There's a rooftop bar on the top floor although we struggled a bit figuring out how to get to it. We tried to go to the top from the 5th floor, but it doesn't work that way. You need to go to the first floor then the far-right elevator only can take you up to where the rooftop bar is. This bar is nice with a great view, but a bit pricey so we only sprung for two rounds. We spent most of our time outside of our room in the central hotel bar near the lobby. The bar manager and staff were super friendly and took great care of us during our stay. We'd definitely be back - but wish the hotel was a little closer to the downtown area of Munich.

Yelp
This is a great hotel. Staff is friendly, parking is easy, and the in house restaurant is very good, with very friendly waitstaff. The location is a bit of distance from the old city but it is very conveniently located for a short trip by bahn or car to the center of everything. I have even ridden a lime scooter down there in just 10 minutes. The rooms are very clean, nice and large , and the air conditioning actually gets the room cool which is a big plus for summer visits. I have been here several times and never disappointed.

Yelp
We stayed here for 4 nights before the holidays and had some good highlights. We were booked into the Andaz suite which is beautiful and set up exactly as asked for our family. We were welcomed by some delicious fruits and snacks for the kids. The staff was friendly and professional. We had requested an early check in which we knew was not always available. We arrived at 2pm after an international flight. Check in is at 3 and we did end up waiting/dozing in the lobby until 3. It sounded like the room was ready but we were waiting on inspection. We loved our room and it was wonderful to return each night as we spent the majority of our stay exploring the city and all the Christmas markets. Breakfast was delicious and we tried something different each morning. The kids loved all the fresh fruits and omlettes. We did end up with an issue where we had the DND on our room but housekeeping came in anyways. Typically this would not be a huge issue except our daughters teddy went missing. The team tried their best to find her teddy and it has since became a bit of a comedy with the teddy found when we arrived at the airport to fly to our next destination. The hotel kindly mailed it to the next Hyatt we were staying at but with the holidays it did not arrive until we returned home to California. We are still waiting on our bear and fortunately our daughter has been given freqent updates but it is still very upsetting that this could have been preventable. We are still waiting for our bear but the hotel and service and followup itself to make things right were well done.

Yelp
Young and Vibrant. Gorgeous view of downtown Munich on a high floor. Well designed compact rooms. A very nice restaurant on site. Good for business travelers. Oops and Oh Nos. Located FAR from the happenings of the city. No concierge. Breakdown of air conditioning and Wi-Fi experienced. Not ideal for pleasure travelers. Cheers!

Yelp
I'm happy that I found this hotel. Check-in was smooth even at 11pm. We were given two drink vouchers and was informed about the amenities, including our complimentary breakfast each morning of our stay. We stayed on the 2nd floor which was very quiet. The room was clean and laid out nicely. I appreciated the separate wash room for the toilet. The bed was comfortable and the shower was spacious. The BMW Museum is only 1.2 miles from the hotel. We rented electric scooters which was only a 13 minute ride. Much cheaper and enjoyable than a taxi. We attended the Adele concert which is a 15 min taxi ride. I felt safe at this hotel and would definitely stay again!

Yelp
Last of the 3 Andaz we stayed the recent Europe trip Apr/May 2023. We always love Hyatt Andaz brand and have stayed in several of them. (Napa, San Diego, London Liverpool, and this trip Vienna & Prague.) The Andaz Munich is a little far away from the old town center. (6 U-bahn stops.) Upon arrival in Munich main bus station from Prague via Flixbus, we took the taxi to Andaz. The taxi was around 15 min ride and cost 22eu + tips. Don't get me wrong. This is a nice popular neighborhood - Schwabing. There is a department store 10-15 min walk away, plus restaurants, cafes, bakeries, super markets, pharmacy and shops. There are U-bahns & S-Bahns close by. The Lufthansa airport shuttle is ~15 min walk away. We arrived on a cold and wet evening (51F) and there was no bellmen, not a problem. The receptionist, Evelin from Hungary, was really friendly and even tried to help us find a good Hungarian Goulash restaurant. They upgraded us to a super fancy and huge suite with 2 bathrooms and nice street views. Love the complimentary spa here. Reminder to sit on top of the towel for sanitary reason. Clothing optional! There was happy hour with some pretzels, beer, and wine in the lobby near the bar. You can sit in the community table to chat with other fellow guests. Buffet breakfast was amazing and staff friendly. There was coffee/tea outside the restaurant during breakfast time if you just want something to keep you warm. The instant hot water cattle was defective and I had to call twice (9am and 2pm) to get it replaced. Housekeeping also did not refill tea bags or remove the coffee pod so tea/coffee in lobby was helpful.

Yelp
Love staying at Andaz hotels. Great location and can easily pick up a train to get to where you want to go. The hotel offers bikes to ride around town which was a nice touch. Check in and check out was super easy. The room was spacious and very comfortable.

Yelp
Come for the rooftop bar. A little bit disappointed because it's different from the picture, won't suggest to come if the sky is dark. Service is great, food is ok.

Yelp
Great food, nice bar, great drinks but the restaurant does close early. Rooms are very nice! Location is near the Olympic Park and taxi's wait outside. Parking right below hotel which is convenient too.

Yelp
The buffet was too expensive and there's no business center to print out private documents. The staff seems to be constantly on the make to fleece the tourists. I've definitely stayed in better IN and OUT of Germany.

Yelp
Very friendly staff. Hotel is really nice the spa and pool area exceptional. Breakfast was really good. Rooms large and nice bar area. Rooftop need reservations but view amazing worth it to go but children not allowed. Great for families a small park near and also great walking to shopping restaurants and also if you're a runner super paths to run on. Be aware of the bikers they have a specific bike lane and they travel fast. Great public transportation too. Highly recommended

Yelp
Look for Chris at the Andaz bar. Ask for his signature Martini22. It will change your life. Until I met Chris, I thought the Dukes Hotel in London served the best Martini (Vesper). For me Dukes is 2nd. Martini22 is 1st.

Yelp
Excellent property: - well furnished and spacious rooms (400-450 sq ft) - heated pool with jacuzzi facing the skyline through the length of the building - happy hr w/complimentary drinks during a certain of the day - close the subway and a few mins train ride to downtown - helpful staff - good breakfast options other than at hotel that are a walking distance. - no noise issues However, there are some negatives - hotel still has some issues w/tech e.g. wifi was spotty at times, and electricity went out for like a couple of hrs. The staff fixed it by crediting our charge for the night without a fuss. - dinner options in walking distance seem a little limited Will w repeat? A hotel at this level and price point -320$ cad a night - shouldn't experience these issues, but I think these are growing pains that'll be fixed. We'll nonetheless go back. And to boot the Berlin Hertha team was staying over at the hotel.

Yelp
My wife and traveled through paris, germany (dusseldorf, cologne, mainz, heidelberg, munich) and italy (venice, florence, rome, sorrento) for 3 weeks. I review all the hotels. This was the second andaz we've stayed at. The first was napa valley, california which was fantastic so we had high hopes for munich. Ill start off by saying the rooms were really nice. Very modern and high tec. There were some problems though. One of the bathroom doors would only close half way. Its a sliding door and would rub against the floor, stopping it from closing. The tv was left on and the remote didnt work. I had to open the back panel of the console to unplug the tv. Not dealbreakers but kinda odd. I would expect better. I was pretty let down by the service. Im reading now on yelp there were complimentary bikes and drinks for happy hour. It would have been nice if we were told about these things at check-in. I had no idea. The bikes would have been very useful since the location of this hotel isn't great. Its quite a few blocks before you get to any interesting areas and a few miles to the city center. look at it on a map. At check-in the lady just seemed very concerned with upgrading us to another room. I arrived 1 hour before check-in and was told the room wasn't ready. This was the only hyatt that has ever happened at. She said it might be 20-30€ more and she can get us a room right away. I said ok. She tells us to have a seat while she checks us in...comes back later with an offer for breakfast for 45€ more. I decline...Then comes back saying that the room is actually 50€ and its better and ready right now. I agree. Well we get to the room and it looks exactly like the photos of the room i originally book. Idk maybe it was slightly bigger or on a higher floor? But again she didn't explain anything and it looked exactly the same as the room i originally booked. I still don't know what "upgrade" i paid for. Oh and the bill was 50€ EACH night so actually 100€. I dont remember her saying "each night." Anyways we're woh members and this was the 18th hyatt hotel we've checked into and the strangest/worst check in experience. Usually its a pleasure.

Yelp
I would give 100 stars if I could. They clean the room everyday down to details. They have brunches and Christmas dinner even when all restaurants shut down in the city. They assisted me with planning my trip. Oh boy, as soon as they can help, they would do it. It is amazing. Highly recommended

Yelp
We found the best Brazilian Caipirinha in Munich at Andaz hotel made by Chris ( from Belgium). Awesome to find our favorite drink só far from home. Chris Thank you for a such a great service.

Yelp
One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. A beautiful, nicely-decorated, modern and and spacious room (separate toilet from the bathroom, yay!). Attentive service. Their breakfast is first-class (although very expensive). Their happy hour (free snacks and drinks) feels luxurious. Can recommend both their roomservice menu and the bar on top (great fingerfood and cocktails!). Would return again, and again, and again.

Yelp
Great hotel with fabulous service The people there are kind and sweet. When I stayed there the maids forgot to clean the room one day but they immediately fixed that problem with complimentary breakfast. Overall it was a great experience with the great food and the modern clean rooms
