Our stay at Kichwa Tembo with &Beyond was unforgettable for one reason — Joel, our butler. He deserves 5 stars, but the resort itself is more of a 3.5. He always checked in on us, ensured our morning coffee arrived right on time, and even went the extra mile to send us off with a perfectly packed lunch for our travels. His kindness, attention to detail, and genuine nature made all the difference in our experience. We had incredible wildlife sightings — elephants, cheetahs, lions, black rhinos, hyenas, wildebeest, and more — but unfortunately, our game driver was not five-star. He made my husband and I feel like an inconvenience, openly expressed that he didn’t enjoy full-day trips, and admitted he wasn’t fond of early mornings. He rarely provided commentary or education unless we specifically asked, and my husband actually made the majority of the wildlife sightings. Compared to our other drivers at true 5-star resorts in Kenya, this guiding experience was a disappointment. The shared game drive setup also did not feel luxury. It’s nearly impossible to schedule drives around all guests’ preferences, and the experience felt more like being packed in “sardine-style” to maximize numbers rather than offering the personalized, high-end service these trips promise — and that we paid for. While we are grateful for Joel and the moments he made special, I can’t say we would return to Kichwa Tembo except to see him. For a true luxury safari, I would recommend a property that prioritizes small, private game drives and delivers guiding on par with the rest of the experience.

What can I say...the experience you get here is second to none. This place excels in every way.|This was our second trip to Kichwa Tembo...and it was even better than the first time. The camp is a prime location for game viewing and our guide, John, did an amazing job leading our family on drives for 4 days. We got a great variety of all of the land in the vicinity.|The camp and tents are amazing...it's been there a while now, but is kept up extremely well and tents/rooms felt fresh. |The food at Kichwa is just so good and every meal impresses. I also love the picnics they pack and occassional outdoor dinners they serve. To us, it's just "wow" every time. |The best part of the food for my family, however, was how Chef George went out of his way to accommodate one of us with celiac disease, a gluten allergy. George made sure from the moment we walked in that that every single thing she was served was gluten-free with no cross-contact. She didn't get sick at all for the 5 days we were there. This meant the world to us and I can't thank George and the entire staff enough.||If you're considering a safari...just stop looking at book with andBeyond. They do such a phenomenal job.

This was the first stop on our honeymoon in Africa — and what a way to start!|I absolutely recommend it. Everything was spectacular, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The staff played a huge role in making our experience unforgettable… truly every single one of them. Nicholas our guide was the best, also Edward, Joshua, George the chef…||The food was delicious, buffet — comforting and full of flavor. It really made us feel at home.||Bush breakfast with Nico… the best experience.||The tents were excellent — Every detail made us feel pampered and special.||I would return in a heartbeat. We visited during the rainy season (afternoon ride), but it was still a beautiful and very pleasant experience.

Enjoyed a safari here for several days. One of my all time favorite vacations! The view of the Serengeti Plains was so peaceful and beautiful. I truly loved the animals, the local Masai tribes and will never forget our driver Charlie.

Our cabin was lovely and very chic and comfortable. We did not have a "view cabin" but we had trees and butterflies galore, and looked out over a deep creek, with little Sykes blue monkeys playing in the trees. Game drives were well-planned and took advantage of notable sightings ( of which there are many). The bar area was spacious, and Maasai "warriors" came in on certain evenings to entertain with chants. The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained, with a view out over the plains. Meals are served buffet-style, but are not crowded. This camp has, I believe 34 cabins -- spread out and very private from each other.

First visit to this tented camp and what an experience. The tents were awesome, very comfortable and the staff was amazing across the board. What really makes an African safari and the bush rides is the guide. We had Fred for all 5 days and everyday was full of great adventure, incredible sightings and a wealth of knowledge from a tremendous guide!

Wow what can I say about this amazing resort!!!! My husband and I visited in March and from the time we touched down on the landing strip we were made to feel so so welcome. Moses , our guide met us with tea, coffee and snacks. He then drove us to the resort stopping every now and again to point out various animals. We were greeted with a welcome dance by the staff. Upon checking g in we were introduced to our waiter Edward and room steward Simon, both were so welcoming and so helpful during g our stay. The game drives were out of this world, photos do not do justice to the beauty of Masai Mara.!!! Moses went out of his way to make sure we had a good time , we had breakfast in the bush and evening drinks on the hillside with the most spectacular views. It was a privilege to be in that beautiful place. The food at the resort was lovely and the chef Wilberforce came to speak to us every day. I could go on forever about this amazing place but people just go and see for yourself. Robert and Tracy Hubbard x

We have visited Kichwa Tembo on three separate occasions. The tents are beautiful and spotless. Kevin, our butler works hard to accommodate any special requests. All the staff are so kind and welcoming. But, we really keep visiting to spend time with our guide and friend, Fred!
