"Why we love it: Adventure and creature comforts at the gateway to Patagonia The Highlights: - A spectacular setting near a lake and active volcano - Endless activities to enjoy in all seasons - An on-site cheese factory that supplies the farm-to-table restaurant The Review: Best known for its African safari camps, &Beyond has brought its signature adventurous spirit toChilewith this stunning Lake District lodge. The homeland of the Mapuche people, this part of the country—located at the gateway to Patagonia—is dotted by farmlands and villages set around Villarrica Lake, near an active volcano. It’s a wonderland of rainforests, natural lagoons, mountain foothills, and more, all of which guests of Vira Vira can explore with their dedicated guide. After a day spent trekking or horseback riding in the national park, taking a helicopter tour (from the lodge’s own helipad), skiing, fly fishing, mountain biking, dog sledding, or river rafting, retreat to the 54-acre estate, which boasts its own working farm, organic vegetable gardens, and cheese factory—so you know the meals in the restaurant are full of fresh, seasonal flavors. (The adjacent clubby bar stocks more than 1,000 different Chilean wines, so there’s plenty to pair with the gourmet dishes, too.) Unpack in one of the six suites, 12 villas, or the single-use, five-bedroom Hacienda, all with rustic-chic decor, natural textiles, and underfloor heating. Soothe weary muscles in one of the two hot tubs or with a treatment in the spa, then grab a glass of wine or a book from the library and settle into the main lounge, where oversized windows frame the otherworldly views."
"We’d be hard-pressed to find a hotel in a more stunning—okay, downright breathtaking—locale than this one. Surrounded by nearly 60 acres of native parklands on the banks of the Liucura River, with awe-inspiring views of the Villarrica volcano, this beautifully-designed lodging is in a blissfully peaceful corner of the country's Lake District. It even comes with its own fully-working farm and cheese and milk dairy. Outdoor activities are near-endless: on foot, in the water, or atop horses. Rooms (of which there are four kinds: Hacienda doubles, hotel rooms, villa suites, and the spacious Ruca suite, ascending in size) aren’t kitschy, or needlessly over-the-top. In fact, they hit just the right note of comfortable, well-appointed elegance, with sloped wooden walls and roofs, floor-to-ceiling windows, and handmade wall tapestries flanking mod, built-in fireplaces. If you need to get away from it all, this is a good place to start."

"This southern city is a 90-minute flight from Santiago. From Pucón Airport, it’s an easy 15-minute drive to the estatelike andBeyond Vira Vira, one of the most indulgent places to stay in southern Chile, full stop. The 18 rooms and suites have clean lines and large picture windows, with cabin-inspired interiors clad in sustainably harvested local timber; each has a hot tub within an easy dash of the swimmable Liucura River."
This really is one of the most stunningly beautiful lodges in the world (which is a big comment). The massive gardens are incredibly peaceful and beautiful just to sit and enjoy the calmness. |Took the all inclusive option and was not disappointed. Tour guide mapped out three great days of tours (including trekking around the base of one of the volcanoes and white water rafting). A shout out to our guide Caroline. |Food was super fresh (a lot grown on sight), wines of high quality and dining room stunning. |Had a room in the main building which was quiet and super large (with a bath with a great view). |Really could not fault at all and worth every dollar! We definitely want to return.

We have never had such a luxurious experience as we had at &beyond Vira Vira. The villa was amazing, with a shower, indoor tub, and an outdoor tub right next to the Liucura River. All food and activities are included, and they are all top-notch. |The location is idyllic, you can see a million stars at night. The emphasis is on sustainability, with no plastic being used, fruit and vegetables often grown on-site, and they even make their own cheese. The croissants at breakfast were fantastic. |The staff bend over backwards to accommodate your every wish. All our tour guides and our fishing guide were incredibly informative, friendly, and helpful. We had a wonderful experience!

Absolutely fantastic multigenerational stay. Hacienda was perfect for kids, parents and grandparents. Exceptional food (too much of it!) and super activities - most included everyone but we were able to split up based on interest and activity level. Perfect spring break stay.

My wife and I spent 5 nights at &Beyond Vira Vira and had an excellent experience.||Every single employee has clearly been trained to say “yes” when asked if a request could be accommodated. Every single person, from the front desk, to the bar, to the kitchen, to the guides, to the cleaning staff and to the maintenance personnel were friendly and professional.||A special shout-out to Isadora. She was our guide for the entire trip. She took us white water rafting, hiking, horseback riding, e-bike riding and a number of other adventures. She even tracked down a restaurant that serves a specific Chilean sandwich that I really wanted to try. She is a great asset to her company and really helped to make our trip special.||Vira Vira is a small and intimate place, and we stayed one of their eleven or twelve villas. It was everything we could have asked for. They are situated strategically near a river that borders their property so that every view is of peace and serenity.||The excursions we took were tailor made to our requests and abilities. The area around the lodge is beautiful and each activity was something to be remembered.||I am not a fan of “all-inclusive”, but it is exceptional and definitely worth it at Vira Vira. The food was expertly prepared by a chef and kitchen staff that take pride in their work. Every single request we made was handled and remembered by the staff. As an example, I do not care for small coffee cups with even smaller handles. They immediately brought me a good size mug with a large handle. At every meal, they remembered and brought that mug automatically. This is but one of the ways they provided exceptional service.||I could give any number of examples of how great our experience was, but suffice to say that we were impressed and will be back.||Highly recommend.

An incredible place with an even better staff! My wife and I couldn’t have had a better stay here. The excursions, the food, the rooms, and the people, all five stars. We can’t wait to go back one day!

Kudos to the Vira Vira team for our very private stay in late August. We visited during a quiet time at the lodge and enjoyed a very personal and intimate experience. The food is a highlight — Chef Damian is a maestro, preparing delicious, beautifully presented dishes - lots of freshly caught seafood, local vegetables, and cheeses from their local farm. Juan provided engaging table service, and we looked forward to every meal overlooking the scenic lagoon, forest and mountain landscape. We were lucky to have Antonio as a private guide, as we were the only guests on excursions during our visit. It was a worthwhile trek to see the mountain lakes and waterfalls. We booked a lovely suite overlooking the lagoon, located in the main building where dining and excursions depart. But, we stayed in a villa and appreciated the larger seating area when we stayed in due to rain. Villas require an outdoor walk to the dining room and overlook the river. The grounds are bucolic with grazing sheep and cows. There’s a small gym and two hot tubs - and we enjoyed the bath salts in our large in-villa tub. Villas also have a spacious outdoor tub, not usable during the winter months. ||This was our first visit to Chile and third stay with andBeyond, and we will continue to stay with andBeyond around the world. The level of hospitality, quality of lodging and amenities, and excellence of meals are outstanding and well worth it.

One of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. The service was impeccable and the food amazing (lots of homegrown vegetables). All the staff were lovely and we had a lot of fun with our guide Carlos who introduced us to Piscola :)
