Andrassy Kuria & Spa (Tarcal, Borsod-Abauj-Zemplen) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"There’s plenty of room yet in Hungary’s Tokaj wine country for variations on a theme. Andrássy Kúria and Spa, despite its down-home, old-world setting in the picturesque, red-roofed hamlet of Tarcal, is a remarkably luxurious escape. Its hometown pride is evident throughout, from the sumptuous fireplace in the lobby lounge to the natural wood and textile detailing in the rooms. Guided tours of the region are their strong suit; on foot or wheels, through vineyards or picnicking with a castle view, they’re all an excellent excuse to get the lay of the land. Leave some time after tasting tours to wind down in the spa’s thermal cave pools." - Tablet Hotels

We had a pleasant stay, but it didn’t quite feel like the 5-star standard you would expect in Hungary. The rooms are nice and comfortable, and the spa area is well designed, but some details were disappointing. For example, there was a coffee machine in the room, but no capsules provided. Also, the restaurant, although Michelin recommended, could offer better and more refined dishes to truly meet that level of recognition. Overall, an enjoyable experience, but with room for improvement to fully reflect a true 5-star stay.

Stayed here for a friends wedding, the facilities are really good. The rooms are lovely and the different pools and saunas are really nice but, for them to claim that this is a 5 star hotel the service was definitely not there for me, and sadly it tainted the whole experience. At check in we never got a welcome debrief of where everything was what time breakfast and dinner service is what the spa offered etc. this is a small thing but I would expect it at a 5 star establishment. Anyway in the end we asked for all this information and it was fine. Then we are trying to have dinner and we are told that the restaurant is fully booked. I find it baffling that a 5 star hotel cannot accommodated for dinner for all of its guests and it’s not like it’s easy to find alternative food options in the small town of Tarcal…. At check in no one gave us pre warning that we would not be able to have dinner there that night and this is where the poor communication started for me. Some of our friends pleaded into the dinner service and said that there were actually lots of tables available. Breakfast was good lots of selection but I personally found the dining hall way too dark and the hot food selection was cold. We also asked for a late check out because we were at a wedding till 3am the night before and was denied this and were told we needed to check out by 10. I’ve not been in a hotel in my life where check out is before breakfast even finishes. We were happy to pay a late check out fee but we were just immediately turned down that this was not possible eventhough we were told this was a possibility when we first reserved the room. My biggest problem with the whole experience was the lack of service and poor, occasionally rude communication. There was no sense of accommodating to any of us guests even if it would make them more money and business… Lovely facilities but considering that it is a 5 start hotel and the amount of money we paid to stay there it definitely did not live up to those standards.

Staying at the Andrássy Kúria & Spa was genuinely one of the most relaxing and enjoyable experiences I’ve had in Hungary. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcomed with warm hospitality and attention to detail. The historic charm of the building, combined with its tasteful modern touches, gave the entire place a peaceful and refined atmosphere. It felt like stepping into a quiet, luxurious escape surrounded by nature and culture.||The spa was the real highlight for me. After a day of exploring the nearby Tokaj wine region, unwinding in the thermal pool and sauna was pure bliss. I treated myself to a massage that was honestly one of the best I’ve had—completely relaxing and professional. Everything was spotless, beautifully designed, and calm, creating a perfect wellness sanctuary. It felt like time slowed down there.||Evenings at the hotel were just as special. Dining in the restaurant was a treat—elegant dishes, rich flavors, and of course, the local wines were phenomenal. The staff gave great recommendations and knew the wine pairings perfectly. I left feeling completely refreshed, pampered, and already dreaming of going back. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend it—it’s more than a hotel, it’s an experience.

The hotel was nice all the staff were helpful, friendly! We were here for 2 days and during this time I can mention 2 things:||1. during the dinner time me and my husband had to wait so long (around 1,5 hours) as the hotel was full and most of the waitress had to work after their working hours and they weren’t enough for full house. Ofc. they tried their best, but it was hard.|2. When we arrived we got a very cold room and we had to sleep there 1 night, but then the receptionist was so kind and we could change our first room for an other - warm - one.||So the place was nice, the staffs are also nice and helpful, so thank you all of them.

Elegant estate-style hotel with tasteful interiors and a peaceful atmosphere. The staff is exceptionally polite and caring — from reception to spa and restaurant, you're truly looked after. A place where comfort, style, and care come together.

The best hotel. We are here I think once in a year, every year. The hotel is beautiful, the food is delicious, and the spa area is fantastic. The staff are very helpful and kind. Thank you for your understanding.

After a super long day, super exhausting one, we are arriving to our room we figured there are two single beds and not a double as requested on reservation, we have called the receptionist and we have been offered to push the beds together as there isn't any room with a double bed available, we have decided to leave to another hotel with better service, as soon the receptionist hears we would like to leave, she somehow found a double bed room for us, which was ok but not clean enough and very close to the lobby which felt like we are actually at the lobby all the time... i don't think we deserve this felling (also for the price we have paid..) and we really expect for a manger call to explain. didn't feel like a 5 star hotel service at all. We were very disappointed.

It was the 4th or the fifth time in the hotel. The management of the hotel has changed, but the quality of service is still high. I hope it will not change with the time. Magnificent wellness area, helpful staff and very good restaurant.
