Privately and quietly nestled, centered actually, in the middle of a block off all streets, including Duval Street. Peaking thru the foliage out one of our windows, we could almost see the Ernest Hemingway pool on that private one acre lot. To be sure, being so conveniently located in old town, you will see and walk by some funky, even dilapidated cottages. The front gate opens to an alley off Duval and the back gate alley passes cottages being renovated and is just around the corner from the Hemingway House entrance.
Our room, the Roma, is so nicely appointed with a most comfortable king bed, vaulted ceiling, Caribbean colors and art work. We loved the tile floors. The bathroom is bright and clean with a small tub/shower combination. Plenty of hot water with adequate pressure, once we figured out the trick with the faucet. Wonderful toiletries including soaps and shampoo, que-tips, makeup removal wipes and even separate face clothes. Thirsty soft bath towels were decoratively arranged and replaced daily if requested. The private porch has two comfy chairs and a side table. It faces the back entrance gate rather than the pool and other guests.
The generous breakfast was available at 8:30 with coffee by 7:30. You can expect a wide variety of baked goods, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, and hot and cold cereals. There is also one hand made hot choice each morning. We had a custom made omelet our first day, French toast on our 2nd day and a frittata the morning we checked out. We heard the Blueberry pancakes we missed were good as well. The pool area is lovely and well maintained with a small pool adequate for a refreshing dip. The staff is warm, friendly, helpful and attentive while ensuring a private homey experience
