It is a spacious restaurant. It has a range of maki and nigiri sushi that you could choose from the front counter. This makes it a good choice for someone who doesn't need a huge meal.

&Sushi Newmarket is our go-to fast Japanese restaurant in the neighborhood! I had the chicken katsudon flavorful and super comforting. The portion size was just right. The place is clean and the staff are always friendly and attentive. The place never disappoints. Highly recommend!

I visited this sushi place after seeing its high ratings. Arrived around 1:30pm, but most of the sushi was already sold out, with only a few options left. While the service was excellent, the food didn’t live up to expectations. Given the quality, I found it quite pricey.

Absolutely loved this sushi box! Everything was super fresh and beautifully presented—like edible art. The mix of colors, edible flowers, and microgreens made it feel really special. Loved the variety too, from classic salmon nigiri to creative rolls with purple rice. You can tell they put a lot of care into each piece. Tasted as good as it looked! Definitely coming back.

Yelp
There was so much choices! not overwhelming at all because it was so pretty and different from a typical sushi restaurant. The prices varies from NZ$1-$3 per piece. For the work that they put on the sushi, rolls it's a very good price. You can choose your own, no one pressuring you or looking at you while you take your time to choose but when you have a question they'll be there right away to answer. They have a menu for cooked food as well, but they have sushi display for whoever in a rush where it's made already. When you're at the paying process they'll ask you if you want wasabi or ginger.

Yelp
Best sushi we've had by far in NZ. Very fresh fish. Not cheap, but quite reasonably priced given the quality and creativity. Staff were friendly and helpful. We're only here a few days but will probably come back.

Yelp
Yeah the sushi game is strong here !!! Go for the soba noodle salad - see the rainbow ,eat the rainbow !! The service is excellent , but the New Market location is teeny tiny and you can see what your dining neighbour is eating and or talking about . The selection of sushi is amazing and colourful and your plate can quickly full up , don't forget there's a menu to order from . I recommend for 2nd dates and girly girl catch ups . Too small for working lunches make a beeline for the city works depot outlet for that .

Yelp
Thanks to The Denizen, I was super excited when I read that a new sushi bar had just opened up in Newmarket. And even more so to find out that as well as serving modern style and creative sushi, a range of Japanese and Korean dishes were on the menu as well - my favourite cuisines! Plus an awesome beverage list - think Kokako cold brew coffee, Daily Organics kombucha and Cocoloco coconut water. Now, this sounded like my kind of place! Fast forward a few months where I have been frequenting &Sushi on the weekends, with the aim to try everything on their mouthwatering menu. So far, my favourites have definitely been their sushi - every piece is beautifully presented and has some surprising decorations, like edible flowers, wasabi creams and strawberry slices! Each roll is clearly marked with the ingredients and some of their sushi is vegan and vegetarian. Their purple rice sushi with cream cheese, salmon and topped with avocado and pink wasabi cream is a clear favourite, as well as the sushi pockets filled with perfectly chopped salmon and avocado pieces. All the sushi is freshly made, tastes great and the fillings generous. If you prefer something more substantial, then I recommend you try one of their Soba Noodle Salads. Simply choose between charred eggplant (my favourite), teriyaki chicken or fresh tofu, and then be wowed when it arrives to your table. The salads are beautifully presented and are topped with red cabbage, radish, avocado, beansprouts, mesclun salad, ume dressing and the best part - kumara shavings, which gives the salad a nice texture. Also a special mention to their Bulgogi Beef Donburi, which took standard donburi to a whole new level. It had wonderful flavours and was also decorated with edible flowers - not something you see everyday! And don't leave before trying their miso soup - at $3, it is the best I have had in Auckland. And if the above is not enough to tempt you, here are four more reasons why you should dine at &Sushi: 1. The location. Nestled among the vast array of shops on Teed Street, &Sushi is the perfect spot for lunch after a morning of shopping. 2. The space. Minimalist design, with hanging plants and a zebra-like feature wall. It is also clean and light. 3. The friendly and efficient staff, who are clearly passionate about their food. Plus, you can see the chefs cooking in the kitchen! 4. Finally, the small things.. like injecting your soy sauce onto your sushi, the eco-friendly packaging and their reusable chopsticks, which you are welcome to take home (I was told I could wash them up to five times - bonus!!!) To me, &Sushi is the real deal. If you are looking for beautifully presented and tasty meals, welcoming staff and a great ambience, then no doubt you will be dreaming daily about your next visit to &Sushi.

Yelp
Living centrally gives you more excuses to eat out. Unless you work in Newmarket or the city it means you are fighting off others for lunch in the weekend at &Sushi. Relatively new now, I had a quick lunch stop at the Newmarket branch. Wowza it gets busy - don't expect to sit in there unless you have the time to wait or you are happy to be squashed up to by others. Busy is always a good sign that you are eating at place that will deliver however in this case I am not so sure. Don't get my wrong, the variety is more than you will find in any other sushi shop, they bring bright colours and interesting flavour combos. Being the biggest sushi fan, I was really excited to try something new and innovative. I am not sure if it was that my expectations were so high from seeing how busy the store was constantly and had been recommended &Sushi for the fact that there are modern sushi flavours which are crazy and exciting - but maybe its true when people say you should stick to what you know and sometimes stripping food back to basics is the best way. I just felt with all the different flavours and combos, the flavours were lost. I was sad that nothing really gave me that feeling that I wanted to keep eating more. You always eat with your eyes and the food is beautifully presented and gives you that excitement to eat, I was just disappointed that the flavours didn't match the look. To be honest, I can't even remember what I picked now, but can't remember the flavours that stood out either. I had a quick look at the sit-down menu on offer. Everything again sounds very appetising. Two of our dining partners actually ordered from the menu, but I can't comment on the flavours - until next time. I want to love &Sushi because the servers were very friendly and the food is beautiful and creative, I think it would really favour from bringing a little less flavours to table - less is more. Rating Food: 6/10 Service: 8/10 Value for Money: Good 10-12 Teed St, Newmarket Opening Hours: Mon-Sat 9am-4pm.

Yelp
The only downside to this place is how packed it gets at lunchtime, but that's hardly the restaurant's fault. & sushi is about as hipster as you can get, but it backs up its sense of style with food that tastes great at a price that's surprisingly reasonable. The format of service is straightforward and fairly typical for casual sushi places in Auckland: you go in, stand in line, and self-serve sushi from the countertop, paying when you get to the register at the end of the line. The sushi selection is diverse and delicious as well as beautiful. The decor of the shop is minimalist, and everything is well-kept and clean. Service is warm and friendly, and there's an openness to the place. You can see food being prepared in the back, and the restaurant is well-lit from the outside so everything feels bright and welcoming. Also the food is good. Like, really really good casual sushi. The unagi nigiri is grilled nicely, the rolls are tasty and have a huge assortment. Even the inari is tasty and comes in different varieties, which I've found to be a rarity in Auckland (St Pierre's doesn't have it, and Sushipac's just uses plain rice with no seasoning, which is insane). I want to come here every day!

Yelp
I visited this place about 5 months ago on a trip from SF. We found it as we were headed out, hidden in the corner of the plaza. I'm just sorry we didn't find it the day before because we had to fly out that day the sushi was really good and fresh. I really enjoyed the different, creative rolls they had going and really wish we could've tried more!! I loved the atmosphere of the place too. It was really open, bright and airy.

Yelp
I was excited to experience &Sushi for the first time, as I had heard great things about it. I went to the Teed Street &Sushi and was lucky enough to grab a car park right outside - but if you're driving there, please be aware that it can get busy in the back streets of Newmarket and you'll most likely have to pay for parking! I entered &Sushi unsure of how the food would displayed, and to my delight it was set out beautifully. I arrived at around 2pm in the afternoon, so I assume there was less food than usual, but what they had left to display was positioned delightfully. The display showed off the colourful and creative aspects of the sushi, which allowed me see what pieces I wanted to choose. I told one of the workers that I hadn't been there before and she kindly offered her help if I needed it. I grabbed a takeaway box and started to pick my sushi pieces. I'm not too adventurous when it comes to sushi, but their beautifully made sushi made me step out of my sushi comfort zone a bit. I chose two rice paper roll halves and four pieces of sushi - one vegetarian red rice piece, two chicken white rice pieces and one chicken red rice piece. I was very happy with my purchase - which calculated to $14.80 with included the sushi and a lemonade. I can't wait to go back and would definitely recommend you try it out!

Yelp
Very unique style of sushi but very hard to make selection when being pushed along by the people behind you. The nigiri had far too much rice. Overall we enjoyed it. For a quick cheap lunch it was nice. But with reading the reviews we were hoping for more than pre made counter sushi.

Yelp
Excellent modern approach to great and quickly served sushi. Broad range of Donburi options. Quality food at fair prices. First rate staff.
