Yelp
Bewilderingly bad customer service in the grill-
Employees seem to have zero interest or understanding of business.
I called to place a delivery breakfast order this morning,
And when I asked if they could mark our meals with our names (I was ordering for 10 people) the guy said "no, we don't do that" and hung up.
I called back, convinced that he misunderstood what I was asking for, and he seemed confused and hung up again. I assumed the place was a madhouse, and the guy was overwhelmed.
I decided to walk down there, only to find the place was not busy at all...I was actually the only customer when I walked in. I approached the deli guy, explaining that I had called him moments earlier, and that I had to place an order for 10 breakfasts. This is where things got really mind-boggling...
He told me "uhh..come back tomorrow ", like this is a reservation only dining establishment (and not a convenience store takeout deli). I again thought he must be confused. Then,a few people filtered into the store behind me and the guy said I should "step aside" so he could take their orders... like he was worried about the store losing a few bagel sales while he was selling me $100+ worth of stuff...it made no sense...
This is the behavior of someone with no logic or understanding that as a business your goal is to sell more, not to save merchandise in case someone else wants it..
I went to the cashier, who was just staring into space, and explained that his coworker was turning away large orders to make sure he had time for small ones, and the guy just shrugged.
I just couldn't help but wonder what the owners, who must pay thousands a day in commercial rent, would think of this bizarre and deeply flawed logic..
I wound up calling another deli down the street, and they were totally normal about it.
