Anemomilos Boutique Hotel, Folegandros island, Greece - Explore & Book

"Have you ever had one of those days where you just want to close your eyes and wake up on a remote island where everybody is friendly and the sun always shines? Then here’s what to do next time. Fly to Athens or Santorini, take the ferry to the tiny Cycladic island of Folegandros and hop into the waiting minibus of bright-eyed Dimitris Patellis. After a brief drive past mysterious moonlit cliffs and glimpsed white-washed chapels, his daughter Diana shows you to a spacious and spotless blue-white room. When you wake up, step out onto the balcony for a view you will never forget. A plunging drop to a sea so clear and turquoise you can see the urchins on the seabed; a trio of humped islets floating on a misty horizon; and above, a pyramid of rock crowned by a graceful, white-washed church. Flagged paths lead to the hotel's pool and restaurant, the other way into the photogenic alleys of Hora town. Your troubles are over; prepare to relax. Highs The clifftop location is breathtaking - you could spend days just soaking up the viewThe studio rooms are spacious and Greek-chic, with sitting areas and kitchenettes; some have rooftop terraces or bougainvillea-shaded patiosMost can sleep 2 additional children (or adults) using the very comfy built-in sofabedsWe loved the way the hotel feels like an extension of the picturesque village of Hora, whose tavernas are on your doorstepThe impeccable and welcoming service from Diana and her fabulous team Lows You'll have to drive or take a boat cruise to reach Folegandros' lovely little beachesIt books up early, especially for summerThe terrace bar sometimes fills up with non-residents enjoying a sundowner hereAllergy sufferers should note that there is a friendly dog and a few cats (as expected in Greece) roaming aroundSome rooms are more private than others" - Michael Cullen

We had 4 nights here and it was simply brilliant. The location is stunning, our room was beautiful with great views down the coast and for sunset. The breakfast is exceptional, and the pool area very relaxing and wind free! Every member of the hotel team is truly lovely, and it’s a super short walk into the village in the evening. We can’t recommend this place highly enough, the old adage of ‘you get what you pay for’ has never been truer! Thank you for making the start of our island hopping holiday so gorgeous and memorable.

Just amazing ! I’m a little reluctant to post my 5* review and share the secret of this superb accomodation. I think Our best hotel and holiday experience, ever. The hotel is in an exceptional position on the cliff with amazing views, our room , a village view, was just lovely, calming, well equipped , immaculate with 2 lovely balconies. Yes there are others right on the edge with better sea views but I rather liked ours. It’s within a 2/3 minute walk of the chora which is beautiful. The pool|& restaraunt area are beautifully kept, relaxing, superb food and great staff. Diana and her family were all very welcoming, the staff just lovely, and nothing is too much for the team. They were super helpful. We most definitely intend to return

Staff were very attentive and kind. The hotel is immaculate. Very clean. Every detail has been thought of. The pool is lovely - deep and warm. The dining area looks out over the Aegean with a sunset view and was not affected by the north wind that blew all week . You can see several islands in the distance and the waves and cliffs below. The food was excellent. Our room had 2 balconies but the view lying in bed was just as good. The nearby chora was just 50m was very nice with several good restaurants.

We had a wonderful stay at Anemomilos Boutique Hotel. It’s a beautifully run, family-owned property where the hospitality truly stands out. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed and well cared for—the managers went out of their way to make our stay feel special. The breakfast was incredible—easily the best we’ve ever had at a hotel. It was plentiful, delicious, and served with the most stunning view each morning. The pool was a highlight for our kids, and they especially loved playing with the managers’ daughter, which added such a personal, family-friendly touch. Even with our three kids, it felt relaxing and peaceful. It would work just as well for a romantic stay. There was a wedding party there during our visit, and they seemed to be having a great time too. We highly recommend Anemomilos to anyone visiting the area. It felt like a true resort experience—with the charm and warmth of a small, family-run hotel.

This is one of my favourite places on earth. The hotel is perched on the cliff and the view is to die for- the absolute blue. The hotel coffee shop is the perfect place to relax and soak the vibe (and easily spend the day reading) with coffee and nibbles. Enjoy.

What an outstanding resort experience! From the lovely staff at the front desk, restaurant & pool and housekeeping to the spectacular location and lovely sea view room you will love this place! After a short ride on the private shuttle that picked us up at the ferry landing and meeting the lovely Diana at arrival we felt cared for and pampered our entire 4 day stay. Don’t miss the ample and delicious breakfast at the edge of the cliff! Folegandros’ Chora is a short walk across the street. You’ll be very glad you stayed here!

In getting ready to write my review for the fabulous Anemomilos Hotel I just read the most recent review by ChrisH, which summed up most everything I was going to say, so I'll start by seconding that review! But I'd like to emphasize how wonderful the staff is - every one of them! They were so helpful and friendly and made you feel that they were delighted to have you as a guest. I was so touched when Diana gave us a parting gift of Greek wine after I mentioned how impressed I was with Greek wine the night before - such a beautiful, personal touch. |We were a family of 4 in a superior family studio that was very comfortable for us. In the future, I would ask about the size of the patio if you are more than 2 people, but it didn't matter too much as we had both a front and back patio, and the lovely pool area was a stone's throw away and offered a great place for relaxing. |The breakfasts were fantastic. We also enjoyed 2 wonderful dinners there with terrific food, views, and sunsets. I highly recommend a stay here, and I feel like it is the type of special place that we will work to come back to someday.
