We do a lot of distillery/brewery tours, and this was a neat place to visit! Most of the staff were friendly, with the exception of when we were leaving…the man at the front desk had his nose in the air a tad bit much, he could’ve been more friendly. He acted like he was running a 3 star Michelin restaurant!! It was a nice and clean area, my only disappointment was that the gift shop area just didn’t have very much to choose from. I was hoping to go home with some cool loot, but ended up with nothing. Their prices were a little high also. Was a little sad that they didn’t offer a complimentary glass for you to take home from your tasting experience. The candy that they paired with the drinks was really yummy though! Our tour guide was super great and so were the staff at the front desk when we first came in! Glad we got to have this experience!!

This is one of the best tours we had in Louisville. Rick was a great storyteller! The tasting, tour, and bar were all great. The place is super clean and welcoming. The bartender we had was kind of stand off ish but I wasn't going to let that ruin a good review. If you stay in louisville and can't make it out to the bourbon trail, I definitely recommend this as a stop. It is walking distance from NULU and downtown.

My husband and I had the absolute pleasure of doing the Bottle Your Own Bourbon experience at Angel’s Envy—and it was nothing short of amazing! From start to finish, the experience was incredibly immersive, fun, and memorable. We were lucky enough to have Jeff as our distiller guardian, and he truly made our visit exceptional. Jeff was knowledgeable, passionate, and made the entire process so enjoyable. His enthusiasm and expertise elevated the experience and made us feel completely at home. We can’t say enough good things about him! Getting to fill our own bottle straight from the barrel was such a unique and special moment—we'll treasure it (and the bourbon!) for a long time. We highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Louisville or anyone who loves bourbon. It’s a must-do!

We had such a wonderful experience at Angels Envy Distillery in Louisville! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by Rick, who was so friendly and helpful. He got us checked in quickly and signed up for the 4:30 tasting with Kate III. It was me, my husband, and another guest, and we couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Kate was absolutely amazing — knowledgeable, bubbly, and so much fun! This was actually my first bourbon tasting (I don’t usually drink bourbon and was just trying to be a good sport for my husband), but Kate completely won me over, especially with the chocolate pairing. Everything was delicious, and she made the experience memorable. We loved our visit and would absolutely recommend Angels Envy to anyone visiting Louisville. Totally worth it!

We had a great time with our tour and bottling experience. Our guide was awesome. He was friendly, knowledgeable and helped to make this a great experience. The Distillery is nice and has a lot of great charm. 10 out of 10 would recommend and I would love to do it again with my son!

Google
Let me start by saying our tour guide Lauren was amazing. She made the tour interesting and informative. The bar was upscale yet laid back and the gift shop was massive. As a newish bourbon drinker, Angels's Envy was not really on my radar. After this visit, they will be a standard on my shelf.

Google
We did the single barrel experience. For the price, I was expecting something much more intimate and unique. Of the two special tastes, one was underwhelming and the other had a damp barley finish. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. If you have time and a designated driver, spend some time at the bar, they have some interesting flights. They make good juice, just need to think about the tours a bit.

Google
We had the opportunity/honor to visit the Angel's Envy Destillery in JUN_FY2025 and it was an amazing experience, a great opportunity to learn more about Kentucky's bourbon history and legacy. We did a plant tour and for sure it's a remarkable building. Definitely, it's a place that deserves my respect. It was a privilege.

Yelp
We had LIAM for our tour, which his BIG BOOMING VOICE! Liam knew the ins and outs of Angel's Envy - walking us through the entire process, and explaining everything well as we reached each location - the mash tanks, the distilling column, the doubler, the barrels - everything. Safety was appropriately stressed everywhere - stay inside the green lines. The tasting at the end was comprised of 4 different whiskeys, which were served with water and a bottle and eye dropper to soften them if desired. The tasting room was very nice, with comfortable chairs and nice glasswear! Notes: We attended this tour in July. It was very warm in the distillery in general so hydrate up before you go.

Yelp
Angels Envy is my favorite Kentucky Bourbon, so naturally we had to stop by on our drive from Chicago to Nashville. We arrived later in the afternoon, so we unfortunately didn't have time for a tour. We hung out in the tasting room/bar area and shared a flight. The staff is friendly and service is good. Btw, parking was free if you can find a free spot on the street, otherwise the lot across the street charges $10. Back to the flight, we had the Cellar Collection, which was tasty, rich in flavor and super strong in alcohol content. Looking forward to coming back for a tour and more tastings.

Yelp
Very informative tour. Kate" the great" kept things fun and interactive. She was very knowledgeable about the process. The tasting included local chocolates...YUM!!' This is a modern urban distillery.

Yelp
Out of all the distillery tours, this one was probably one of my least favorite. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't terrible or a bad experience (or I'd be giving way less stars), but it was just okay. Our tour guide was knowledgeable enough but really kind of awkward and very rigid. There wasn't a lot of conversation, questions or flow -- it was scripted and she was not a fan or comfortable going off script. That being said, I really enjoyed the bourbons that we got to taste, and appreciated the delicious chocolate pairings. They all worked well together and it was one of the only tours that had something like this (recently). The bar at the distillery looked just okay -- it was busy and we weren't really feeling the vibe with the cocktail options. Everything is beautiful in the gift shop, lots of goodies and treats for a fun souvenir.

Yelp
You can't go to Kentucky and not try bourbon! During my trip to Louisville I got to cross the Angel's Envy distillery off my bucket list and did their traditional tour. I would say this was the most interactive and informative tour that I've been on so far. Our guide asked who wanted to try the mash from the machine and of course I had to say yes! It's quite the experience, so if you get the chance to try it you should! At the end of the tour we did our bourbon tasting where we got to sample one bourbon that is only sold at the distillery along with some other brand favorites along with complementary chocolate truffles. If I could handle more bourbon I would've signed up for the next class!

Yelp
Angels envy was a great stop Beautiful gift shop, tasting rooms, and bar. Curated cocktails, snacks available. Service was fantastic.

Yelp
A very nice distillery. Ambiance is high-endy in a re-purposed warehouse. We drink this bourbon at home and thought stopping in for tasting would be fun. We did the chocolate tasting with two types of bourbon. The server was helpful and educated us regarding the bourbons and how to sip them. We also got a bottle for one of friends as a birthday gift and had the bottle engraved on the spot. Nice. Mark. & Nancy.

Yelp
What an awesome experience this was! I paid for the "Bottle Your Own" experience for my husband and a guest tasting for myself. We were able to try two of their items each with a perfect pairing of chocolate. Then my husband was able to bottle his own from Angel's Envy with labels and everything. We were also able to get a quick tour of the facility. It's a beautiful location! The service of our tour was awesome! I highly recommend!

Yelp
We decided to book a tour of Angel's Envy while visiting Louisville, KY and it did not disappoint! Located in downtown, Angel's Envy is a quick walk from Nulu where our hotel was. For starters, our tour guide Tony was amazing; super friendly, knowledgeable and a joy to have for the approx. hour long tour of the entire facility. The tour groups are small, only 12 people in each group, so it is an extremely educational and intimate experience where you are able to ask questions and really get a good picture of how they do things at Angel's Envy. Towards the end, the tour includes a sit down bourbon tasting which is super fun! Reservations fill up quickly so make sure to book in advance; 1-2 weeks+ especially if there are any events going on in town. Highly recommend checking this out if you're visiting the Louisville area!

Yelp
This review is only for their bar as we did not do a tour. This is a must-do when in Louisville- right downtown and a beautiful building. The bar is walk-up only with no table service but the bartenders are incredibly talented and full of personality. Mika was fantastic! They have a limited cocktail menu and tasting pours. We tried the Henderson which is a take on an Old Fashioned made with their port syrup which was amazing and I definitely did purchase the port syrup in the gift shop on the way out. We also had a cocktail with some pear liqueur which was also tasty, but wasn't as bourbon-forward and we were here for the Angel's.

Yelp
My wife is a big fan of Angel's Envy Rye, so it was only fitting that our first distillery tour was at Angel's Envy. We did the Private Select tour that lasts an hour. Kelsea was a super smart and engaging tour guide. Loved her energy and how interactive she made the tour. Like all distillery tours, the tour walks you thru the production steps. I found the facility to be spacious, beautifully designed with awesome signage. As someone who loves technology, the new bottling/labeling line was fun to watch. They can produce almost 50K bottles daily. For our tasting, we tried three types of bourbon. The first was used to prep our mouth and senses for the next two tastings. We also had chocolates that came alive when tasted with the bourbon. If you are fortunate to have Kelsea as your guide, make sure you spell her first name correctly in any review. Her awesome presentation was worthy of a nice tip, which we happily shared as we left the boardroom. In the retail store on the main level, pick up a bottle and have your name inscribed for $10. A neat keepsake for any visit. #angelsenvy

Yelp
Angel's Envy is a distillery to be reckoned with. I purchased the signature tour, which included chocolate with our pairing, what a tasty top notch experience. Kate who was simply great did a phenomenal job at being our tour guide. She was incredibly smart, insightful, and funny. Definitely hands down the Best Bourbon I have had in my life along with the best chocolate. The distillery itself is crafted beautifully. What an epic treat!

Yelp
Loved this distillery! Definitely worth going if you are downtown. The bar they have is super cute that has a nice view. I didn't have a tour but did a flight and it was great!

Yelp
Our first stop on the bourbon trail did not disappoint! We did a bourbon tasting with Kate III, she did a great job explaining the backstory of Angels Envy as well as each bourbon. The distillery itself is in a beautiful old building right across from the baseball field. The bar has a really nice view as well! We didn't have much room in our luggage to take things home but they have plenty to buy!

Yelp
Such a fun and informative tour. Our guide was clearly very into his job and his love of bourbon and history was apparent. The building was so unique, I enjoyed taking it all in. Lots of stair walking but there was an elevator for guests with disabilities or needs. Bourbon tasting was enjoyable and the chocolate they paired it with had me running to buy some in the gift shop ! A great experience with my favorite bourbon!
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
A great place to learn about the distilling process while also enjoying tastings of classics and rarities alike. The Finishing Room is a good place to go after-or before-your tour or tasting. I was able to participate in the Distillery Experience which was paired with chocolates, for a great start to a Louisville weekend!
google avatar

Yelp
We did the tour at Angels Envy and then afterwards got a drink at their bar. We really enjoyed this tour as it was a little different than the others we had done. We walked through many areas of the distillery that other tours did not take us and the tasting came with a chocolate pairing which was a nice touch! The facility is beautiful and so was the bar area. It was really neat to see how some of our favorite bourbon is made!

Yelp
Self admittedly, I'm not really a Bourbon afficionado, more of a Mezcal connoisseur, but I do enjoy the occasional Old Fashioned. Since I was going to be traveling through Kentucky, I thought I would tour some distilleries and do some tastings. And since my wife works in the wine and spirits industry, a colleague of hers arranged a few with some of the distilleries they have dealings with. On first entering, Angels Envy seemed a bit more serious and formal than some, but the tour and tour guide were excellent, and I'd say I learned the most about making bourbon/whiskey and how to enjoy it here more so than any other tour. Unfortunately, halfway through the electricity went out here, and the surrounding blocks (car accident down the street because the stop lights went out too). After a brief pause, the tour and tasting went on, but unfortunately, the bottle engraving machine was down because of it. I would have bought a couple of 750ml bottles instead of the boxed set of two 350ml bottles. It would have been cool to have a couple of bottles engraved for my wife . . . . but that's Mother Nature for you. They would have engraved whenever the electricity came back on later in the day or the following day but I had other stops in the afternoon and the wouldn't open the next day until hours after I'd be heading back th DC. It's definitely a must stop! And the chocolate pairings are amazing! This might sound crazy but if they offer you hand sanitizer . . . . cup your hands and take a sip.

Yelp
Our second distillery was Angel's Envy, a short walk from Rabbit Hole. The distillery was in a a lovely brick building and I loved the aesthetic. The hour-long tour was $25US and only two samples -- bourbon finished in a port cask and rye whiskey finished in a rum cask. While tasty, I didn't purchase any because Angel's Envy is sold in Canada, but I did spent quite a bit in the gift shop! After the tour, we stopped for a cocktail in the lounge. Yelp
My friend and I went there for a tour and our tour guide was informative and funny. It was very interesting and cool to see the inside workings of the actual distillery. Last time I was there we were unable to tour because of something called the pandemic. We got to try the their bourbon and rye paired with chocolate and it was very good! After that we had a few drinks at their bar that were super unique and well balanced. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This was a great experience. We learned about bourbon, met new friends, laughed with Lauren, got some steps in, and bought lovely gifties to open at home. Drinks are fantastic and parking is across the street.

Yelp
Angel's Envy was such a treat! The facility was so clean and overall in theme with what you'd imagine Angel's Envy to look like (particularly if you're familiar with the brand). Our tour guide, Liza, made the experience so enjoyable! Tour wise, she was super engaging and helped explain the bourbon process and the ways that Angel's Envy makes theirs their own. I loved visiting the property (even with the 34 stairs to and from Heaven). Minus the aging process in rick houses, every other part of the distilling process happens at the site on Main Street where one tours. Tasting wise, this was the best bourbon tasting experience we had on the trip. Liza was helpful in teaching us how to appreciate the notes in the bourbon. She had us try the bourbons in different ways (neat, over ice, with chocolate) and it really brought out the tones the distillers go for. After our tour/ tasting, our group hung out in the bar area. I had a cocktail with strawberries in it and it was SO refreshing! I honestly didn't even taste the bourbon (and I'm not a huge bourbon person so this was a good thing for me). Everything was such great quality. I'd definitely recommend coming here on your Bourbon Trail stops!

Yelp
Amazing tour. Booked a facility tour and chocolate pairing here and I'm glad I did. Our tour guide was very informative and interactive. The tour lasted roughly an hour and ended with a tasting and chocolate pairing on the upper level. The place is done up very nicely, very nice tasting rooms and a great presentation. thoroughly enjoyed the history and stories behind the distillery. Very large gift shop with plenty of unique gifts to enjoy.

Yelp
This was a distillery that I had picked on the spot randomly while I was driving through. I was pleasantly surprised with this location. It was pretty amazing to park on the side of the building and get out of your car and smell the bourbon flood your nasal cavity. It was very nice, clean and well set up. They had a tour of the place but I didn't pay for it of course as I was just stopping by but I would be curious to do so. They had great customer service and the gal helping me was patient, knowledgeable and very helpful. It was pretty great that I was able to create a personalized message on a bottle as a gift. I am not much of a bourbon drinker, but I am sure it tastes fantastic. I loved the gift and other treats I had purchased. Pre-made cocktails, pairing chocolates, snacks and much more.
google avatar

Roya J.

Yelp
Our tour guide Donchica made it a great experience. We were amazing with the efficiency and overall ergonomics of the distillery. Based on other distilleries we visited this was a much smaller space and they produce a large amount of bourbon.
google avatar

Yelp
Although I prefer distilleries away from urban areas Angel's Envy caught my eye several years ago after seeing a video made by the late graphic designer, Julius Friedman. An old historic building renovated into an attractive distillery plus half off a tour because it was Hometown Tourist Month was an offer I couldn't refuse. The tour is an hour long with a tasting at the end. Although there is a pay parking lot next to the distillery just a block east on Main Street you can find free parking. I simply parked on Hancock Street(side street off of East Main Street). If you are willing to park a block and half away you can save money. You are also the nearby NuLu district of East Market Street with a number of local shops and restaurants plus some coffee shops.

Yelp
The Angel's Envy Distillery Tour is a captivating journey into the world of whiskey craftsmanship. Located in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, this spot invites visitors to explore its history and production techniques. Your Tour Guide recounts the fascinating story of the Henderson family legacy, tracing its roots back to Lincoln Henderson, a revered master distiller. Visitors are transported through the stories of whiskey history, gaining insights into the artistry and dedication required to make a dang good whiskey. Upon entering the core of the distillery, the air is thick with the aroma of cooking mash that smells like banana bread to me. And truly, the build out and architecture of the space is so good, I love just being there. Check out the photo I added, the place is just too cool. Guides pour generous drams of signature expressions, allowing guests to savor and appreciate the fruits of the distillery's labor in the tasting room. Who doesn't love that? The Angel's Envy Distillery Tour and Tasting is an experience that I think is approachable for both the whiskey curious and whiskey lovers alike. From the humble beginnings to the meticulously crafted final product, it is a homage to tradition, a celebration of legacy, and an opportunity to savor the heights to which craftsmanship can ascend.

Yelp
My wife and I decided to do a little something different for our distillery tour. This was a "bottle your own"! Truly terrific experience! Dakota was our bottle leader and tour guide. Our tour was not that much, but it was something that was not covered in their other tours. Bottling our very own selected barrel, 115 proof bourbon, port barrel finished bottle of joy was truly special. It was a very small group. A little spendy but well worth it!
google avatar

Rob K.

Yelp
Awesome experience. We stopped in to grab an allocated bourbon and decided to head upstairs first a pour (or two). First, the upstairs bar is amazing. They may call it a tasting room. (Tomato tomahhtoe). The bar tender was great, she was knowledgeable and a pleasure to talk to! They had a few rare pours at fair prices. It was also nice to taste a few things before committing to buy downstairs. The gift shop renovation is amazing! You'll likely pick up a few things you didn't know you needed, but when in Rome... Compared to other stops at downtown distilleries this is my favorite. The ambience is perfect upstairs. Great setting, bourbon, and an atmosphere that allows great conversation!!!!

Yelp
If your old enough the tour is very interesting. I have this in my liquor cabinet. The guide was extremely knowledgeable The tasting at the end of tour was very interesting This should be in any serious bourbon drinkers cabinet
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
Such an amazing experience! The gift shop has been redecorated since the last time I visited in 2017. I also did the tour and our tour guide Dakota was awesome. He was friendly and super cool about answering any and all of our questions. The tour included a tasting as well, which was really good end to the day. I spent way too much in the gift shop! lol

Nancy M.

Yelp
Our tour guide was fun and reasonably well-informed. However, everything felt rushed, especially the tasting. We DID love the chocolate pairings! As much as we liked our guide, it felt like he was eager to go home. We have been on a number of tours so perhaps that colored our opinion of this experience. If it's your first tour, it is a good place to start.
google avatar

Yelp
This was hands down the best distillery we visited. Our guide was very knowledgeable, we learned a lot and had fun. Cool to see the changes made to the old building and how the production works. Would definitely do the tour and tasting again.

Yelp
Very good tour and tasting. The tour guide was quite knowledgeable. The building was interesting.

Yelp
This was our first bourbon distillery to visit in Louisville. It is located downtown; right on Main Street, in a big red brick building that was built in 1902, and restored into a modern distillery. The founding Henderson family has ties to the original building. The tours are limited to 12 guests, and it is very efficiently run. We were met by our tour guide, Eliza, right on time and she started by giving us a brief history of the founders. After that we toured the tanks, where they seal the bung holes of the barrels, the bottling room, etc. She gave us detailed information every step of the way, and let us smell and touch the grains and products that were unfinished. After about an hour we were taken to a room with tables/chairs set up for sampling. I like how Angel's Envy paired their samples with chocolates. After our tasting we were escorted to a bar where we could sample further, or try one of their exclusive cocktails. I tried the "Oaxacan on Sunshine" which was Angel's Envy bourbon, mezcal, cilantro infused agave, lime, and tajin. It was delicious, (I don't care for straight bourbon,) and tasted like a margarita. My husband had an old-fashioned. Our final experience was the gift shop. They had an assortment of products for sale; clothing items, hats, magnets, bar accessories, and of course bottles of Angel's Envy bourbon. We bought a cute hoodie and a Christmas ornament. It was a great first tour...just the right length, snd very informative. Eliza knows her stuff! My only suggestion would be to maybe offer a discount at the bar and in the gift shop after completing a tour. This would definitely be an incentive for folks like me.

Yelp
Had a fantastic time today on a tour with tasty bourbons. Angels Envy is one of my favorites in back home in Ohio and was awesome to see the distillery. Lyric was the name of our guide and she was phenomenal. So much fun and engaging. She gave us so much information with high energy. I can tell she LOVES her job. We ended at the private bar with a drink followed by the store. We all enjoyed the trip and would even comeback.

Yelp
Angel's Envy was our last stop for my pal's bachelorette bourbon trail. It was my second favorite tour behind Woodford Reserve, but that's only because WR gave me more food to eat, lol. Angel's Envy offers a really nice blend of seeing the actual mechanics of bourbon-making -- all the cool machinery and science -- plus an adequate amount of tastes paired with some nice chocolates for a small bite. Our guide, Bailee, was probably my favorite of the guides we had on our trip. She was knowledgeable, fun, and her speech felt not at all wooden or canned. It seemed like she was having a good time with us, which made things more fun and loose. The tour was very in-depth and we got to see all over the facility. Despite being busy, the communal areas like the gift shop and bar never felt cramped; the vibes are airy and modern and comfortable. One random thing to look out for is that the second floor has wooden floors and they're a little hazardous in heels. I'm probably a special case because idk how many people would wear heels to a distillery tour, but in my defense, we had a nice dinner reservation immediately afterward, lol. So if you're in the same very-specific boat as me, watch your step! This place did give the fewest pours out of any of the tours I went on (at 3), so if tasting a lot of bourbon is your objective, a different tour might be a better fit. That being said, they were paired with some really delicious local chocolates and they were, to me, among the best tasting bourbons I tried (although to be fair, I'm not much of a bourbon drinker and don't know what I'm talking about lol). Thanks for a nice cap-off to our day of bourbon touring!

Phil K.

Yelp
Great tour! Eddie was very knowledgeable and made for a really enjoyable time. Cocktails in the tasting bar were amazing! Beautiful facility!

Yelp
Great place to do a bourbon tasting in downtown Louisville! The tours were all sold out so make sure to book ahead. We did the bourbon and chocolate tasting and it was awesome! Only 15-20 minutes too
google avatar

Andy B.

Yelp
Located in downtown Louisville nice place to sneak in a tour. In general, the tour was the normal distillery tour although our guide made it interesting and interactive, she did a great job on the tasting at the end. Their bar and gift shop are nice as well.

Yelp
We decided to book the Signature Tour for my partners birthday. Taylor was our guide and she did a phenomenal job! She was articulate, spoke clearly and projected her voice well. The information on the tour was presented well and the tasting was great.

Alice T.

Yelp
While visiting Louisville, Angel's Envy was the very first distillery I visited during my trip. It's located on the edge of downtown Louisville and has plenty of parking. The tour guide was informative and and you can tell he's passionate about whiskey. He showed us some ways on how to smell and taste the whiskey, which might look funny but it works. This distillery is on a smaller scale and you might see some of the operation depending on the time you go.

Yelp
Wow, what a great experience! We did a tour and tasting while here and our tour guide was Kelsea - she was great. I highly recommend doing this tour. The sights, smells, and tastings were top notch. And what a great story!! We had a great time.

Yelp
Took the Angel's Envy Single Barrel Tour. Deano, our tour guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and presented the tour with great enthusiasm for the Angel's Envy bourbon product line. We immensely enjoyed ourselves.

Yelp
Angel's Envy was my first distillery stop. Very happy I did this one first as we got to "see" an actual working distillery which made a difference when visiting others and trying to imagine steps in the process. Our guide was super informative, funny and made the tour interactive. Also happy we opted to do the chocolate and bourbon tasting at the end! Definitely recommend!

Yelp
I booked the signature experience for a group of three while we were in town for a concert. We ended up coming 3mins late but we're able to join in on the tour with Greg. Great tour guide and we had an amazing time learning about Angel's Envy, rye and bourbon. This has probably been one of the best distillery tours I've taken and a big part of that was due to Greg. He was great. Great activity that's in a good location with lots of street parking.

Yelp
This remains one of my favorite stops on the Bourbon Tour, so when my brother and his wife invited us to join them for a tour, I jumped at the opportunity! My new friend had never been here either. Angel's Envy was the first distillery to return to Whiskey Row in Louisville, and now several others have joined them. It is a fully functional distillary, and very informative. Our guide had been a drama major in college, and he was quite entertaining. Our group loved the tour!!! Highly recommend. Of course it was wrapped up with a tasting. Who doesn't love a bourbon with highlights of chocolate and cherries? And chocolates...but again, I didn't score any extra. But I was willing to share my bourbon either. This does require reservations (I think most of them do now) so plan ahead. It is so very worth it.
