We’ve been here before — their patio is fantastic and one of my favorite spots to sit when the weather cooperates. Unfortunately, they’re going out of business at the end of the week, so if you’ve been meaning to check them out, now’s the time to show some love before they’re gone.
Beer Flight:
#7 Slice of Heaven Hefeweizen: A little too literal — light, slightly sweet, but not much “heaven” happening flavor-wise.
#9 SweetSin Chocolate Porter: Very creamy with a nice mellow chocolate note — smooth and not bitter. Easily the best of the bunch.
#18 Bacon & Eggs Imperial Coffee Porter: The coffee aroma hits you first (in a good way), and the flavor backs it up — bold, roasty, and definitely bitter. Not for the faint of heart, but solid.
#22 White Witbier: Pretty much flavorless. If you told me this was sparkling water with an identity crisis, I’d believe you.
#26 Rielly’s Irish Stout: Predictable but reliable — smooth, not too heavy, does exactly what you expect.
#30 Prickly Pearadise Cider: Really refreshing and not overly sweet, though it’d be way better ice-cold instead of “mildly chilled.”
The SweetSin Chocolate Porter was the clear winner for me.
We split the Warm Sausage Platter — three sausages, two pretzels, and a mix of sauces that sounded amazing on paper. In reality? Two of the sausages were good, one was a dud, and there wasn’t nearly enough of the sauces to really taste them. The creamy horseradish and hot mustard were the standouts; the rest were just kind of there.
My husband went for the Bourbon County 2018 Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout — and wow, that’s a stout. It’s so thick it’s practically syrup, but in that smooth, luxurious way that stout lovers chase. I appreciated it, but one sip was plenty for me.
