Angel's Trumpet Ale House

We’ve been here before — their patio is fantastic and one of my favorite spots to sit when the weather cooperates. Unfortunately, they’re going out of business at the end of the week, so if you’ve been meaning to check them out, now’s the time to show some love before they’re gone. Beer Flight: #7 Slice of Heaven Hefeweizen: A little too literal — light, slightly sweet, but not much “heaven” happening flavor-wise. #9 SweetSin Chocolate Porter: Very creamy with a nice mellow chocolate note — smooth and not bitter. Easily the best of the bunch. #18 Bacon & Eggs Imperial Coffee Porter: The coffee aroma hits you first (in a good way), and the flavor backs it up — bold, roasty, and definitely bitter. Not for the faint of heart, but solid. #22 White Witbier: Pretty much flavorless. If you told me this was sparkling water with an identity crisis, I’d believe you. #26 Rielly’s Irish Stout: Predictable but reliable — smooth, not too heavy, does exactly what you expect. #30 Prickly Pearadise Cider: Really refreshing and not overly sweet, though it’d be way better ice-cold instead of “mildly chilled.” The SweetSin Chocolate Porter was the clear winner for me. We split the Warm Sausage Platter — three sausages, two pretzels, and a mix of sauces that sounded amazing on paper. In reality? Two of the sausages were good, one was a dud, and there wasn’t nearly enough of the sauces to really taste them. The creamy horseradish and hot mustard were the standouts; the rest were just kind of there. My husband went for the Bourbon County 2018 Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout — and wow, that’s a stout. It’s so thick it’s practically syrup, but in that smooth, luxurious way that stout lovers chase. I appreciated it, but one sip was plenty for me.

The beer is probably the best I've had in Arizona. No other ale house or pub has come close to the variety and flavors, along with the knowledgeable staff. Angel's has quite the atmosphere and even the people were friendly and helpful too.

Visited here last night to grab a quick bite before a comedy show in downtown Phoenix. Ordered the crispy fried pork riblets. I thought the flavor of the pork was pretty good. However, it was very salty and hard to eat because of the rib bones that were inside each piece and also pieces of cartilage, etc. I guess I was expecting more of a boneless experience or a burnt end experience. We also ordered the pretzel and that was very good. I’m not much of a beer drinker so I had the cider that they had on tap which was apple and lemon and that was excellent. Service was good. The wait staff were very friendly. Parking was very challenging. They do have a small number of spaces right next to the restaurant which is great, but if those are taken, then you have to park on the street. I think in the winter when it’s cooler and the patio is available, I bet it’s a rockin place and I look forward to trying it again sometime.

We came at a recommendation of someone we met somewhere else. If you are a craft beer person, they have beers for everyone! The service was great. The food was wonderful. We were told we should order their homemade Pop-tarts. This month's flavor was peanut butter and jelly. It was wonderful. We sat outside but they have a nice indoor area too.

One of my husband’s go-to spots for a flight of beer, and I can see why! Their rotating selection keeps things interesting, and the food never disappoints. Today’s picks: the Brewlee burger with a fried egg (our favorite!), crispy skin-on fries, and the spud taquitos—cheesy, crispy goodness. Always a solid choice for a date night. Plus it was a quiet time of a Thursday evening.

Good place for burgers and beer. 2 beers shared one hamburger, $38.00 not including tip. Nothing is inexpensive these days.

Angel's Trumpet Ale House was a great place for dinner on a recent trip to Phoenix. They have a great patio area with attentive servers and a huge beer selection. It is kid-friendly and dog-friendly and we saw many of each. The music selection was great - a mix of modern rock classics that was played at a reasonable level to be able to carry on a conversation with others. We had the bbq brisket grilled cheese and the central sandwiches. The sandwiches were great but the fries were not very good. We had the homemade pop tarts - I highly recommend finishing your meal with these! I will return to Angel's Trumpet Ale House the next time I am in Phoenix!

The food was delicious and unique! I highly recommend coming here if you have not! They have the best Cole slaw

Met up with a few folks here one weekday evening. Nice area in downtown Phoenix with a small lot and street parking. We sat at the bar initially and moved to a high-top table for easier conversation. I got an Arnold Palmer and it was good, got a water as well. For food, we split two of their dishes: a farm pizza flatbread (goat cheese, smoked mozzarella, roasted tomato sauce, roasted corn, red pepper, mushroom, garlic) and the spud taquitos (sweet potato mash, roasted corn, green chili & chihuahua cheese in a flash-fried tortilla w/ pesto, spicy salsa verde). Both were tasty and easily shareable. The place was fairly busy but we had a nice time and could hear the conversation. They have several single-bathrooms which was nice, took a photo of their artwork inside. Parking lot has limited spots so I just parked up the street. Overall this feels like a popular place and it's been around a while so that shows its success.

We enjoyed the visit to Angels Trumpet. We started with a flight of a variety of beers. The food was good, but the real story here is the house made pop tarts. Wow! So delicious and creative! The staff was helpful and fun.

This is a great place for a drink and/or food. The patio is dog friendly and they have a huge variety of beer to choose from. Tuesdays they do a tv dinner that's a fun and easy dinner with their delicious homemade pop tart pastry and it changes every week. They also have some of the best wings downtown that you can either get tossed in the sauce or with the sauce on the side. The wings were filling and they let me get the sauce on the side because I couldn't decide which one to get, but I preferred the hot sauce and blue cheese. The honey infused sauce was a little sweet for my taste.

A casual Downtown Phoenix standby that never disappoints! It's an indoor-outdoor brewery with a family-friendly patio that includes outdoor games. They have a great beer selection plus they make their meats and sauces in-house, and we've never been disappointed! The place can get packed, so reservations are recommended. The staff is usually busy but cordial and attentive. Give this place a shot if you're downtown.

Stopped in for dessert the other night. Nice relaxed, dog friendly patio. Our server was friendly and there was a great beer selection. The pop tarts never disappoint.

Angels wasn't our initial place to eat, but luckily we got led to here to eat lunch. It wasn't busy yet for the day but I was pleased with their pace. Staff knew how to communicate well so we didn't wait long for condiments and water refills. It was great to see a good dynamic. The fresh cut fries were fresh along with our chicken sandwiches. I loved that things tasted clean and not heavy and dense in a bad way. I loved the house dressing they had for the salad! We didn't enjoy the beer but plenty of options for those who do. Nice indoor and outdoor seating. Recommend for a good lunch!

Angels trumpet Ale House has excellent beer for downtown Phoenix. It's competition is the Churchill across the street and Arizona wilderness and pedal haus. I know Matt and Sherry engelhorn and they just want to make sure people have good times. The only thing I would recommend is Matt and Sherry create a beer School for people who want to learn craft beer! teach people the Cicero and certification program. The beer school program that was once in Tempe has been dead for almost 10 years after world of Beer left Arizona. During the morning to the mid-afternoon hours the tap room and the dining room are brightly lit with the ambience of downtown Sun hitting the windows. At night it's dim fairly lit but still awesome enough that you can take Instagram pictures or what have you. I once worked in the back where they make the wings as the dishwasher and I during that year worked try to taste every beer that Matt put up on the board. So much that after a shift a gentleman sitting at the tap room facing the board stopped me and said young man I've seen you almost every day this month can you tell me what's good. I sat down had my shift beer talked to him and his wife about how to taste a beer and not just drink it. (Thanks Randy mosher )

We came in on a Saturday evening. They had a large bar and plenty of seating. I started with a sour as usual and then a light ale, he had a couple IPA's. We shared a flatbread as the bartender recommended one (with jalapeño's). I can't pass up a little spice. He also recommended the sausage platter, which sounded good. The reason for a lower rating than usual is because a gentleman walked in and pushed chairs in at the bar aggressively. He ordered beer and food and started being rude to my company. When I asked him what was wrong with him, he threw a napkin in my face!!!!!! Instead of telling him to immediately leave the bartender brings our receipt and say we both need to leave. We had been sitting quietly conversing amongst ourselves for a few hours. We weren't the problem! I was so disgusted at how this was handled, I will NEVER return! The young drunks down here are exactly why I don't come to Roosevelt Row.

I haven't been to Angel's Trumpet in years but it was so nice coming back. The vibes are great inside and it's a fun environment. Our server (totally forgot to get his name) was awesome and gave us great recommendations on beers to try with their 6-3 oz 12$ flights! All yummy BTW. Our food was also delicious. The mess (their poutine) is my favorite. The pizza was also huge, it could definitely serve 2-3 people depending on appetite! The nachos, tacos, and quesadilla was also great. My only regret is not saving room in my stomach for their homemade pop tarts. No complaints for Angel's Trumpet!!

The food is spectacular! Get the wings! Get a flat bread and get the onion rings! Service is less than desirable but the food and beer make up for being neglected.

Updating more photos of what we ordered, onion rings and fish tacos. This place has been one of our favorite restaurants in town that has good beer and food. We absolutely recommend this place to people who have not tried it before or for those who like good food and beer, like us.

Always searching for a better tasty hamburger and guess what, believe it or not found it right at Angel's Trumpet! Very nice, large patty of beef cooked to order, bun was soft and toasty, condiments were perfect. Can't imagine why they're never listed as a great place to have a hamburger. Service was exceptional and of course their beers are some of the best. Definitely enjoyed a late lunch at Angel's Trumpet.

It is always a good vibe there. The place has great music, they have games , it's just a cool place for your group of friends. The bar tenders are good as well and generally pretty quick. The service is really good. They have food vendors on site or in the area and the food is decent. I love coming here when I'm in LA.

The food, atmosphere and drink selection was fantastic! We especially enjoyed the nachos and the pop tart for desert!

Great place to go for a good meal and a great selection of beer from all over the US. Had a couple fights to try different ones Had the Central chicken sandwich and it was very good. Wings are very crispy with 4 different sauces on the side. I liked that option. Waiter was very friendly and gave great suggestions. Only complaint is they only had one tv and I went on Saturday during college football. I know it isn't a sports bar so shouldn't expect them.

Angels Trumpet Ale House in downtown Phoenix has amazing Happy hour and a huge beer selection alongside flatbreads not to be missed. The best part of the dinner was the dessert! Homemade pop tarts of your childhood but adult flavor. We decided to share some happy hour snacks such as the mess fries and fried pickles, both so delicious. The staff is super friendly and the overall vibe of the restaurant is so vibrant. Definitely recommend if you are in downtown Phoenix!

The food is always fresh and delicious. There is always a great drink selection. The service is outstanding. I love the ambiance. Such a cool place with great music! Love the Tuesday night TV dinners and the monthly pop tarts.

Great selection of beers on tap and good food. A little on the pricey side, but service and laid back atmosphere for a downtown Friday night pub was cool. Got the green chili burrito & wings. Friends got a burger and chicken flatbread. Everything was delish, wings were meaty.

We had a great happy hour here last night. The cab on tap was very good! My husband tried a couple beers. The food was so good and great portions!

You could keep reading this review, or you can skip Angels Trumpet and go to AZ Wilderness instead. The choice is yours.... Anyways, the Yelposphere let me down with this one. For starters, I partially wanted to go here because this was touted as the "best patio in PHX." WRONG! This patio is fenced in and blocked by a bunch of buildings. The chairs are super cheap chairs that belong in a Holiday Inn conference room. Just not a patio vibe at all. Service is low key rude. We sat ourselves outside, looked around for a minute or two and then someone comes up and says "Do you know what you want?" No greeting, no offering of menu. Nothing! They seemed annoyed when I asked about the beers. Just pointed to the outdoor menu and said "they're right there." Even though I still tipped 20%, they were not worthy of that at all. The beers were okay, but nothing memorable. Again, the AZ Wilderness beers are ones that you'll take one sip and say "oh wow what is this?! I need more!" Only thing they have going for them at Angels Trumpet is the fries. I did enjoy those and ate every last one. The have homemade ketchup, which seems to be a trend nowadays. Just give us Heinz (or even Hunts). Theirs in particular tastes like thickened V8/Bloody Mary sauce. Burger was just a burger you could get anywhere. And given that they don't have regular ketchup or yellow mustard, that alone loses them one star. Can't appropriately judge a burger when you can't dress it up the way you want! The pop tarts looked good but weren't as good as they looked. Too much filling (blueberry) and it had some weird flavor in it that I couldn't place (almost like a spice or an herb that didn't feel like it should be in blueberry filling). The pastry itself is very good though. If they put a better filling in there and didn't load it up, I would really enjoy it. All told, AZ Wilderness is literally right down the street, has a MUCH better patio, fantastic beers and a perfect vibe (although I will warn you that they also have homemade ketchup). But Wilderness is totally where it's at. This place is very subpar and I don't plan to be back.

First time coming here for food. We got there right when they opened for lunch. Our waitress was amazing, great conversions we had with her. The food was delicious. I ordered the 810 sandwich but in a wrap. My friend ordered the 810 as it comes, both very good. The fries and homemade ketchup were also very tasty. We ordered beer flights and all the beers were great. Cool that this place has happy hour every day until 6PM. Overall, great experience. I will definitely be back for more food and drinks.

One of my favorite spots in Phoenix. Get a flight of craft beer and order the Matador or the 810, and thank me later.

Great little spot for happy hour in downtown Phoenix. The tasting flight was $10 and you pick your own 6 non premium beers to taste. The Mess (green chili pork poutine) was delicious but too much for one person so the homemade pop tarts had to be a rake away dessert. Will definitely go back for more

We were in town for Arizona Craft Beer Week and we had just attended the Arizona Strong Beer Festival the day before. We wanted to check out a few local beer bars and breweries before we left. A friend recommended this place because he had been here a few years prior. Unfortunately it has changed a bit and they don't offer such a great selection of independent craft beer on tap. They carry a few local brews, which is nice, but the remaining taps seem to be all of the bigger craft beer guys (Rogue, New Belgium, etc..). The beer tender that night was great, prompt friendly service and knowledgeable about beer. We would return on our next visit to try the food.

Great craft beer. Dogs allowed! Fun ambiance and the food is actually really good! Not bar food at all. Two thumbs up.

We headed downtown for a 7 pm comedy show but didn't have dinner planned for Lisa's birthday. So, Lisa whips out her list of restaurants she's heard about and Angel's Trumpet Ale House was on the list. 30 minutes later we parked in their lot and walked in. The place has a great vibe, excellent food and we had remarkably attentive service from Marcus. We will definitely return on our next downtown adventure.

Nice venue for group gatherings. Indoor and outdoor seating. Dog-friendly patio. Lots of beers on tap. Wine on tap as well. No hard liquor. I ordered the market salad with chicken. It was very pleasing. Street parking available. Accessible entrance. Masks options.

Was 5 star worthy! Found this location on Yelp as we were in the area and had our dog with us, so we were searching for a dog friendly location. We arrived 8/19 at 6:30 PM and were welcomed right away through the restaurant to their gorgeous outdoor patio. This open space is approximately a 3,000-square-foot patio with plenty of seating, a large chalkboard offering all their ales on tap, corn hole, a resident cat and nice lighting to enjoy the atmosphere as the sun goes down. Thoughtfully, our fur baby was brought a bowl of water by our server shortly after we were seated. Angel's Trumpet is a fantastic local gastropub in central Phoenix. They seem to have a very extensive and well-curated selection of beers on tap. 31 craft beers to be exact on tap, more than 100 types of bottled beer and six draft wines. We started our drinks off with a few samples and decided on the reflections pale ale & a sour ale. The menu is incredibly unique. The food fresh & top notch! We began with their wings as an appetizer. Ordered the honey hot. These wings were outstanding! Richly sauced, served with carrots & celery with a homemade blue cheese and adobo sauce. We were extremely impressed with the size of these wings. Honestly, it was a meal in itself! So many things caught my eye on the menu, however I decided on the spud taquitos. Filled with sweet potato mash, roasted corn, green chilies & chihuahua cheese then served with a side of green salsa verde & fresh pesto. Insanely good! A fabulous meal for those that are vegetarian too! I was expecting little small corn tortillas, nope these were HUGE flour tortillas (more like flautas) & I could only eat one! My leftovers were a delicious meal the next day! LOL My husband had the 810 which had shaved smoked ( in house) turkey, peppered bacon, avocado mash, picked red onion, adobo sauce & a side of pickled jalapeño. An amazing thick sandwich that was super tasty & perfect with tots! These local business owners are doing things right here. Our stellar server shared how invested they are in their restaurant and how particular they are about their operation. Looks as though they have a 2nd location in lower Arcadia called Tall Glass. Potentially, a must try as well. That said, this will definitely be a "come back again" restaurant for us for sure. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Memorable experience. Everything was great and additionally, we always enjoy to support small locally owned businesses. These are the best places to see thrive and we encourage you as well to try them out, if you haven't yet already.

This place had such good fresh baked pretzel bread and beer cheese dip i attempted to make my own home made pretzel bread and beer cheese at home. so. bomb!

Angel's Trumpet will forever be one of my most recommended spots in Phoenix! Definitely a great casual spot to meet up with friends. They have some bigger tables inside and plenty of outdoor tables with heater dishes around for the winter time for us AZ natives who can't handle the cold.. There also seems to be a resident cat that loves to curl up on one of the sofas while we were there! They have a nice variety of beers & others on tap. I'm not a big beer person but I love that they have some other varieties for the non-beer drinkers. While we were there, they had a kombucha, cider, and a sour. We decided on a spread of the following appetizers to share: -Angel wings - I dream about these wings. Almost every time I go to Angel's I just have to have at least one order of these! They're (usually) juicy and seasoned to perfection. I will say on some one off days the wings were a little dry, but it hasn't stopped me since 99% of the time they will be absolutely delicious. -Riblets - Oh boy, the riblets come in at a close second right behind the wings. They have an sauce that has such a nice salty umami taste and are very tender. They do come with these little thin onion crisps that are kind of fun, but I usually substitute with some celery/ carrots instead. -Onion rings - Now this was the first time I've ordered the onion rings before and wow they are tasty and breaded to perfection! Maybe it was because they came out piping hot, but I really really enjoyed these. I'm generally not much of an onion ring person, but they really got the onion ring/ breading ratio down. -Spud taquitos - Another classic app we like to order. These are a bit hard to split up but they're always delicious! It's hard to go wrong with any of the Angel's food, especially their appetizers! I will forever love this place. I do miss their old Arcadia location but I will make the trek downtown just for my fav Angel's Trumpet!

Just GO!!!! That is all!! The beer selection was plentiful, and the food was fabulous. I will admit a little pricey but YOLO!! Again, Just GO!!!

Solid little spot. Good number of drafts on tap, however, we did get the coffee brown and something about it didn't sit 100% with my taste buds, but it's always a gamble trying new things. The nachos were pretty good, the pork was a nice topping, but there were some pretty fatty pieces in the mix. Overall, a nice experience and our waitress was amazing and had excellent recommendations for us.

Food and drinks were really good! Service was fast. Ambiance was inviting and the restaurant has. It's indoor and outdoor seating as well as high tops and low tops. Lots of drink options as well.

Really great beer selection. Flights are helpful and you can create your own even though they have set ones. Menu is good but lacks anything close to "healthy". Great outdoor area. Oh, greatest background music anywhere! (Gen X ;)

I had wanted to go to Angels Trumpet Ale House for some time, and then an impromptu bar crawl seems the perfect time. The atmosphere is decidedly casual with no real theme or decor. There is an outdoor patio space and the seating and tables are no nonsense. The real star is of course all the Ale on tap. Not being much of a beer drinker I ordered the Berry Ale. It was light fruity and mild tasting. I also ordered the hummus with more vegetable and no bread as I'm gluten intolerant. The hummus was very good and certain has a spicy kick. The cucumbers and carrots were delicious, fresh and sweet tasting!! If your looking for a no nonsense ale house beer garden feel then Angels Trumpet Ale house is the place for you!

My boyfriend and I have come here a few times. The outside is perfect for bringing kids to play some games while you get your drink on. The inside bar area is perfect date spot to get some good grub and drinks.

Food and ambiance were okay, the service was terrible and slow. It took more than 30 minutes to get a chicken sandwich, but I got a beef instead.

Always have a good experience here. It's become a rendezvous point with friends on the way to concerts or other shows downtown. Bar staff is usually super engaging, and the fried pickles are a great indulgence here (not other places!!). Always have at least a couple choices for draft cider or sours too so as a non-beer drinker that's always a nice draw for their various draft selections.

The in house made pop tart was surprisingly good. The staff was friendly and professional. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is due to the limited parking space, minimal menu choices and open air venue (it's getting warm out there). There are other parking for fee spaces nearby, but I am not in a hurry to return to this place all things considered.

All around good vibes, went on a Friday at around 8pm and it was pretty much dead. Drinks are killer.

Great beer and food selection. The pork on the nachos was excellent and I love a green chili that doesn't kill my mouth with spice. There is lots of room here to spread out and the service is great. I always appreciate when the wait staff helps me choose when there are so many great options. They didn't disappoint tonight with the nacho con extra cheese suggestion!

We came in to watch the Suns game! We had a great time! Vibes were good and staff was friendly and kept the beers coming! The flights are for sure the way to go here! We had the mess which was yummy but they did get soggy quickly! Taste was good- similar to a French onion soup on fries! And then we had the apple pop tart which was the featured flavor and so tasty!!!

They have the best grilled cheese Iv ever had cause it not just ur standard sandwich with just cheese ... they also have good warm sausages platter and jalapeño pizza if u like spicy. They also make there one beer . They also have really good homemade pop tarts aka Toaster strudels that r mouth watering

Stopped by this location on a Saturday after some volunteer work .. place was busy but not packed .. sign at the door tells you to grab menus and find a table.. the waitress was at the table in no time. We shared the pretzel tower with kicken mustard, angel wings are crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside .. the dipping sauces were good but the dry rub on these is delicious.. chips and salsa were basic they come with salsa & a bean dip They have an extensive drinks menu on the wall .. including beer, gluten free beer, mead and cider I had the 810 sandwich .. the artificial smoke made it hard to eat.. it was overwhelming .. The bread was good but it very quickly soaked up the smell of the smoke .. the bf agreed it was bad He had the brewlee burger with the fried egg, he enjoyed every bite of the burger .. fries on the side were good dipped in that mustard from the pretzels We shared the homemade strawberry pop tarts, served warm with vanilla ice cream. This is a must .. one serving comes with two pop tarts .. the chunky strawberry filling is delicious and this item the perfect ending a meal We had great service.. waitress was on top of it .. drinks full, dishes cleared, checked on us often.. We sat inside plenty of seating, there is also a cute patio out back with additional seating

My family and I bravely ventured out in the heat to First Friday in July so we needed a good spot to eat and a place to take refuge from the blazing sun for a while. I have had Angels Trumpet Ale House bookmarked for a long time now and my yelp app told me the restaurant was within walking distance so we decided to give it a try! I was pleasantly surprised that they were able to get us a table right away and the service was pretty quick. We were with our 3 year old and I was delighted that they have a kid's menus with several options. My daughter opted for the chicken nuggets and they provided a huge plate filled with fried chicken bits and french fries. She liked the fries more than the chicken. We decided to split the chicken wings because all of the reviews raved about them. They were giant, crispy, and they came served with several dipping sauces. I didn't love the sauces and to me, the wings could have been a bit more seasoned. We were wavering between the pretzel and riblets but since fried riblets are more unique, we decided to go with them. Again, very generous portion, came with two dipping sauces and fried onions. On the blackboard I saw they were offering a house made lavender lemon pop tart, so even though we were already pretty full, we had to give it a try. Two warm, giant pop tarts were delivered to our table. The flavor of the lavender and lemon were faint and most of what I tasted was the fried dough from the exterior of the pop tart. I am not sure I would order it again but it was fun to try something with such a unique combination of flavors. I can definitely see the appeal of this spot. The vibe is definitely chill, hipster, and fits right in with downtown Phoenix's culture. It is geared more towards adults so I really appreciated them being so family-friendly and accommodating.
