When I visited Siem Reap and was working on some archaeological research at Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples I stayed at the Angkor Secret Garden Hotel. When I first arrived the hotel seemed to be nestled in a corner just a little ways from the main thoroughfares which was quite pleasant because it made sleeping there a little quieter. After spending a few weeks there I came to realize that the hotel was perfectly located within fair walking distance from local shopping areas and if I had wanted to I could walk to the local artisan shops.
Taking breaks from exploration was very enjoyable in the hotel's courtyard where I could lounge in a hammock or sit in the eating area with fellow guests. The rooms perfect for my wife and I's needs for the trip. We brought our baby with us for the trip and the staff we very friendly and loved playing with him. The staff were always very friendly and helpful, whether it was procuring a ride in or out of town, helping us translate things we didn't know, and in general just being awesome hosts. If I get a chance to return for more research I will book there again.
Safe travels ya'll!
