One of my favourite restaurants in Toronto - food and service are always 10/10, menu is very reasonably priced and its family owned. Must haves are the poutine, calamari, fish tacos, and obviously the fish and chips. Can't go wrong here :)

Truly 5 stars for food, service and atmosphere. Perfect spot for a cute dinner date or small group to catch up. The buffalo cauliflower was my favourite.

Came here with my boyfriend, we got the shrimp burrito, cauliflower bites, and brussel sprouts. Everything tasted amazing. You could tell that there was a lot of thought put into the meals, and the ingredients tasted super fresh. I would especially recommend the brussel sprouts. Fair prices, especially for the amount of food you get! Staff are very friendly, and the over space feels both laid back and upscale. I would recommend making a reservation, it seemed to fill up very quick! Will definitely be returning.

Such a great spot! The service was amazing — super friendly and fast. The food was sooo good. I had the crab cake and honestly, it was the best I’ve ever had. We also tried the shrimp dumplings, crab dip, and oysters — everything was super fresh and flavorful. And the margaritas? Insanely good. Probably the best ones I’ve had in Mexico! The patio is also really nice, perfect for chilling and enjoying the food and drinks. I have been at this place like 3-4 times and will continue.

Visiting from the Midwest in the States and was delighted to find Gluten-Free fish amd chips/onion rings since GF options are next to zero at home. Food was absolutely AMAZING, including the GF fried oereos! Staff was super friendly and fun and made sure to triple-check GF for everything we ordered Absolutely BEST meal from the trip!

If I could give this place a 6/5 for service I would. One of the best experiences I've had in a restaurant ever. The food was delicious and everything was cooked perfectly, even the cocktails paired so well. You can tell there's a lot of passion in this place. Would recommend everyday of the week

Such a hidden gem in the east end. My teenage daughter hosted her birthday here and they are so great with allergies and gluten sensitivities. Recently enjoyed a mid-week family dinner and everyone found something that they enjoyed. Friendly and attentive service with a great atmosphere and perfectly sized portions. We will definitely be back soon!

Great food and service! The owner is absolutely lovely and very helpful/honest. Thoughtful menu with really great options. The fish and chips were incredible, you can customize it however you like which is really nice. He also recommended the shrimp dumplings which was a great option for an appetizer, very well done and something for everyone. Also a really cute, cozy interior- perfect for any occasion!

A great vibe at Anglr with some unique fish and chip pairings. You can only get haddock, but they let you choose from a variety of batters and sides. They have great cocktails and the service was fantastic. You can tell that the staff really love what they do. The hot sauce had a great flavour too. I can't take too much heat, but it had a really nice flavour. You can even buy some to take home - which we did of course!

First off, the ambiance here is really nice. It feels classy the moment you walk in. We had made a reservation so were seated right away. The server and owner checked in on us multiple times throughout the evening to make sure we were doing ok. We got some dishes to share - the crowd favourite was definitely the hot crab dip. So creamy, and it comes with both baguette and corn chips for dipping. The portion size of this dish is also fantastic. The calarami was also really good - well battered and it comes as a tower on a bed of salsa. The dumplings were average in my opinion, didn't stand out to me too much. And the fish and chips were really good. We tried house and cajun batter, I preferred the house. And the garlic aioli sauce was so good. And we tried both the onion rings and fries, definitely prefer the fries as the onion rings felt too oily. I think we ended up being charged +$2 for the onion rings but the menu said its included. To top off our night, the owner gave a complimentary small dessert for our friend because it was his birthday, and the table was a bit too full to order a full size dessert.

Anglr definitely got me hook, line and sinker. Great quality seafood expertly cooked at reasonable prices. Went here for dinner and got: - Crab Cakes: My favourite dish of the night. Nice crisp on the outside, with tender and tasty crabmeat on the inside. Also definitely not a lot of filler here. - Cauliflower Bites: Huge cauliflower in a crackling coating. The star though was the vegan garlic aioli. - Shrimp Dumplings: Plump shrimp, good sear on the skin. - Tacos: Got the grilled haddock and grilled calamari. Good amount of seafood, floppy tortilla, would have wanted a bit more kick. Service is super friendly and efficient. They are also very particular about dietary restrictions, so huge bonus points for that. We sat at the patio on a nice sunny day which added to the experience. Will definitely be back!

Such a fun place. Anglr is not a typical seafood restaurant but more of a modern twist on some classic fare. From a Mexican, Asian, and Classic British style food everything here has a twist to make it fun and different. We had some classic crab cakes, shrimp dumplings, fried Oreos. So much food. What a blast. The owners are amazing. They know what they are doing. House made hot sauce which was great. Looking for a great meal with friends or family and something for everyone this is a place to come to.

Delicious food and great service (Chad was very personable). I will have to come back to check out their great patio and the fish and chips! We were stuffed from the cauliflower bites, crab cakes, two tacos (definitely go for breaded), crab dip and finishing off with some oysters. Crab cakes and crab dips was filled with so much crab! The cauliflower bites were nice and fluffy and the sauce was delish.

Enjoyed a solo dinner here last night. The oysters were great, and the housemade hot sauce was on point. Excellent mignonette too. Ordered a small house salad which was really quite generous, with 8-9 grilled shrimp. Great dinner spot. Next time I'll bring someone to share the calamari and fish + chips with!

Crab cakes were decent. Fish & shrimp tacos: the shrimp was good - fresh, crispy & quite tasty. The fish was decent but nothing memorable. The tacos were creamier than usual tacos, with creamy coleslaw filling. They were served with lemon not lime but it worked.

Open for about a year, this spot on Gerrard East is a brilliant little restaurant. Skewing toward seafood as the name suggests, they also offer more terrestrial fare. We started with the fried cauliflower in Korean sauce and it was a spectacular opening. Crispy and light batter encasing steaming hot florets of cauliflower, coated in a sweet-but-not-too-sweet glaze and decorated with black sesame seeds. Our appetites were duly whetted. Then came our mains, which were outstanding. My companion had the shrimp burger. It was a magically soft but crispy patty sandwiched in a fresh bun, dressed with a glorious mayo mixture. The fries were perfect bistro style, not too dry, not too soggy but crispy lightly salted and with a hint of sweetness from the potato. I chose the tacos which are served by the one. I opened with the fried halibut. Again, the batter was crispy but not oily and the fresh vegetable filling was tasty. The tortilla was an authentic corn tortilla, hot from the pan whence it came. My second taco was grilled shrimp, charred just so and also accompanied by the fresh filler and a tangy sauce. Friendly, sincere, and welcoming service. Lovely decor, fitting of our vibrant city. Anglr's got me -- hook, line, and sinker.

Such a great spot with the cutest hidden patio in the back. Chad (one of the owners) was serving us and was so attentive and personable. He recommended the cauliflower bites, which were SO good. I usually find that cauliflower bites tend to be pretty small. But these were so plump and crispy, which came with a sweet but not too sweet Korean glaze. It was also on top of a creamy sauce of some sort to balance out any of the sweetness. I also got three tacos: grilled halibut, fried calamari and the fried shrimp. They were all cooked perfectly, however the calamari one was definitely my favourite. I do wish the tacos could have a bit of variation in the toppings, but that would be my only note! My friend got the lamb burger and sweet potato fries. I didn't try her burger but she ate it all so I can only assume it was yummy. I definitely snuck a few of her fries and they were fried perfectly. They also have some local beers on tap which is fun! Next time I will definitely have to try their fish and chips. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area who wants great food with just as great customer service. *they also have great gluten free options as well*

First of all, GET THE CRABCAKES! I don't have celiac but my wife does, so I've had the chance to try a variety of crab cakes. Not only does Anglr have the best gluten free crab cakes I've ever had, they're the best I've ever had period. The owners and staff here are extremely knowledgeable about gluten safety. We ordered the calamari, crab cakes, and the fish&chips and everything was delicious. We tried to order the gluten free brownie for dessert but unfortunately they had just sold out. Was also told that they're working on offering gluten free ice cream sandwiches as a dessert item, outsourcing the cookies from a local gluten free bakery. Cannot recommend this place enough Random side note: The owners of Anglr are the same guys who used to own Off the Hook Fishbar prior to their change in ownership right before COVID. If you've had that iteration of Off the Hook's fish and chips or calamari, the recipe is very similar but I think it's even better now! Happy to be supporting these guys again, best gluten free seafood in the city!

Honestly, the best thing about this place is the wait staff. On top of everything, super cheerful, knowledgeable, and they tend to get your mood up. Oh, and the foods pretty good as well. Been twice now. First time for the fish and frites. Large piece of yummy halibut with a ton of skinny little frites. Second time we had the shrimp dumplings. Crazy good. Fried just right. Also had the Korean cauliflower. A bit more sauce would have been good but they were nice and crispy. Tried the shrimp burger and frites. My only complaint is the fish burger patty was WAY too thin. Like I had to check at one point to see if I had a patty under that bun. What I tasted was great but for 18 bucks, throw in a few more shrimp. Oh and the venue is great. First visit we sat on the lovely patio. This time we sat inside. Not too many people, music too loud, but they were kind enough to turn it down when we asked. Kinda love this place.

Great service, great attitude, involved owners and pretty damn good food to boot. Highly recommend, especially the gluten-free options.

We were a large group of 8 and they were super accommodating and even split the bill. The staff has such a cool vibe and were so friendly. Heads up that they do close a bit earlier than usual on the weekend (10pm) but still a great spot to hang out, grab some drinks and enjoy some apps! My fav was their tacos and Brussels sprouts

I hate having to write a bad review but this restaurant was just not cutting it. When we walked in it took about 5 mins for us to get acknowledged by the staff and seated (in not a full restaurant). Once we finally got seated it then took at least another 5-10 minutes for a server to come give us water and get an order going. Despite a bit of a wait, we were excited to try the food here. All the food we ordered (clam chowder, crab cakes, cauliflower taco, fish and chips) were extremely bland and underwhelming. They did make a nice margarita that I enjoyed drinking, but overall a huge miss on service and food quality. Unfortunately was hoping for more but would not come here again or recommend.

A step above a regular, casual seafood restaurant at a good price. Apps (shrimp dumplings, crab cakes, brussels sprouts) were all very good. Fish burrito was made with care. I'd like to try other stuff as well. Staff were very helpful, accommodating, and polite. It's clear that this is an owner-operated business due to the level of care in what they do. The space is nice. Will return.

We had an incredible meal here! I am a celiac and 90% of their menu is GF. Separate fryers and no cross-contamination. Also they have a fantastic patio! we will be back for sure.

Had a wonderful and delicious dinner here last night with my husband. Wait staff (I think we were served by one of the owners) was excellent - friendly, attentive, kept checking in on us even though we were the only couple sitting in the patio out back and could've easily been forgotten. The patio is lovely. All the food we ordered was delicious: the shrimp dumplings were outstanding, crab cakes were delicious, fish and chips (especially the skinny fries), and grilled fish and salad were fresh and flavourful. Will definitely return!

Couldn't recommend this place more highly. If you like fish and chips, it's a must-visit. Lots of customization options, and from the big stuff (the fish) to the small things (every sauce, side, drink) everything was excellent. Our waiter was also so wonderful! He talked us through the options and chatted with us a bit. Overall, a great experience, can't wait to come back!

I agree with a previous reviewer that the brightest spot of this restaurant is their bubbly and friendly staff. Unfortunately, it stops there. Even seafood being the draw, you can't expect good fish there. Don't get me wrong! I didn't expect fresh haddock there. And yet I still don't know how bad the fish could be. Either the breading is too thick or the fish too thin, it is not the regular fish and chips you normally get. Obviously, they don't have paper towels at their kitchen otherwise they could dry the frozen fillets out after defrosting! Instead of being juicy, the fish is soggy. Restaurants usually have their best chefs on Friday nights. This seems not the case at Anglr.

the fish and chips are perfectly done. delicious crispy light batter. we also have tried the fish tacos which are great. the staff are really friendly too.
