13 Things to Do and See in India in 2025

"I've visited this rescue center in Udaipur four times and always head to the enclosure for partially paralyzed dogs—Animal Aid Unlimited operates as a rescue center, hospital and sanctuary for injured and ill street animals with devoted volunteers, veterinarians and staff, and it's a wonderful place to take a tour or volunteer (short- and long-term volunteers are welcomed); it's located near Badi Village (about 8 km from Udaipur) and you should arrange your return ride beforehand since rickshaws aren't available at the sanctuary." - Matthew Kepnes

Amazing place. They are doing such a good work with the animals and are always looking for volunteers! They are helping all kinds of hurt animals (dogs, cats, horses, cows, goats, ships and birds) from the street and they are healing them and trying to help them recover. Contact them through e-mail in order to get more details about volunteering with the animals!

Volunteering at Animal Aid in Udaipur is hands down the best thing I have ever done in my life. The organisation is incredible and gives so much hope for the future of these beautiful defenceless animals - they do EVERYTHING they can. They care so very much. I really wish I could have stayed for longer - 9 days just was not enough. I wish I had studied in the veterinary field- if I did, I would completely uproot and try for a job within this organisation - thank you for allowing me this experience and for being such wonderful human beings xxx

I visited Animal Aid Unlimited today. A friend volunteered here a long time ago and I said I’d pop in as I was in Udaipur. I don’t think I’ve ever been more humbled, grateful, emotional, happy and desperate at the same time. I am so so pleased I went and would recommend it to any animal lover. It’s such a short journey from the city and will undoubtedly have a profound impact on you. The condition of some of the animals is desperate at the time they come in - two dogs were brought in just during the hour that we were there - but the deep love and passion of the people that work there is tangible and heart warming. Thank goodness this hospital/sanctuary exists and also for the people that work there who are not only doing everything they can for the animals but also working hard at educating people about the care and respect animals should receive and the love they can give back. They have different areas for various animals, illnesses, injuries and ages. They even have a ‘Handi Heaven’ for the handicapped dogs and a cancer ward for those receiving chemotherapy!! There is no hard sell from the workers there to get you to buy merchandise or donate but when you see their work in action it is clear how much a donation would help. It is saddening that there are not more places like this to help all of those animals suffering.

Animal Aid Unlimited is an amazing organization! This morning, a cow got stuck in a drain in front of my apartment. We called Animal Aid Unlimited, and they responded incredibly fast. Their rescue team was able to get the cow out of the drain in about 2 minutes. They also applied medicine to the cow and gave us more medicine to apply later. I'm so grateful for their quick response and compassionate care!

Don't make a joke out of animal's lives so that there is no hope left for it or us. When an animal is stuck, it takes 15 days for the forest department to resolve the complaint. The animal dies, but their team doesn't arrive. They respond rudely, saying to bring the animal to them. If we had the training to catch them, why would we call you? Whenever we call, it will take time, 5 to 7 days. Afterwards, they don't even check the complaint to see what happened. They only go immediately if it's someone they know. If not, don't make a joke out of the animal's life, so that there's no hope left for it or for us.

We randomly saw a small info folder/leaflet for Animal Aid and decided to visit. The team seemed very nice, and we got a tour that explained everything that is going on. It is nice to see that Animals are taken care of, despite this being an enormous effort!

A great place where good caring people give a home and care to animals who would not survive otherwise. You can volunteer and care for the animals .
