Before I start, let me be clear, my wife and I have traveled the world to 60 countries. We are not high maintenance people who need everything perfect. All we ask of a hotel is reasonably quiet and clean. When we first got to our room, we thought, “This is nice ENOUGH, and it’s clean ENOUGH” but as time went on, we realized that in fact neither was true. Looking deeper, there were dirty fingerprints and hand prints everywhere, mold, insects, etc. The toilet in our room was disgusting. Loose and leaking water on the floor. The shower floor was grimy and moldy. Generally, just not adequately cleaned. Next, don’t think you’ll get to, or want to use the pool. Quite literally FILLED with screaming children from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Thought you’d like to use that cute hammock outside your door? You’d better have earplugs as all the rooms face the pool. There’s also a very heavily used pool directly next door that is also very loud. The beaches look nice, right? Yes, they are pretty, but the water is murky and not inviting. There also seems to be a lot of places to eat, and while there are a lot of food stalls, most are not great and most all sell the same things. The two “tourist” restaurants are very overpriced and not great. The included breakfast at the hotel is simply bad. Repetitive and poorly done. Tasteless, bland and the same every single day. Even the “local” food like roti cannai was greasy roti and dishwater like “curry” with oil floating on top. I’d advise not only avoiding this hotel, but this area of the island entirely. I simply don’t understand the positive reviews of this hotel, perhaps it’s people who have never traveled much or simply don’t care how clean a place is.
