The hostel is well located, 10-15 min walking to the train station, with a tram stop opposite the hotel and a Narvesen shop on the corner to buy a quick bite. The staff was kind and gave us all the necessary information. You can rent cooking equipment to take to your room, there a small lounge area next to reception and you can buy hot drinks as well, with a machine serving free hot water. The hostel feels safe, has stairs and lift, access to which is with a fob (room card key). The room was big enough for 6 people (we were 5) although I think it had less chairs. In our room we had a mini fridge, oven with hobs and cupboards. I don't remember seeing a cupboard for clothes so I wouldn't stay long. What I would have preferred to be different is that you have to collect your towels and bedlinen from reception upon check-in and make your own bed. The bathroom, although functional and good enough, had some details as well: there was some mold on the ceiling and since the shower doesn't have any separation to the rest of the bathroom but with a curtain, all the floor gets wet. There's a squeegee you can use to wipe but since it's a small one you have to squat down to do so. Not very comfortable. The water from the shower was super warm and with good pressure, allowing for a comforting shower.

The location of the hostel is perfect. Few minutes (on foot) to the Oslo centrum. In front of the hotel is public transport stop and few shops arround. Stuff is nice and helpfull, they event borrow us free of charge cooking set. Only small thing is that the room can be cleaner.

Stayed here for two nights in a twin room. Room was great with en suite and a mini kitchen - equipment for the kitchen can be hired for a fee. The bed was comfortable but would have preferred an extra pillow. Wardrobe and table in the room too, had hangers in the wardrobe. When checked in we were given linen and towels and cards for our room. Used the lift to go to the room. At night you use the night entrance that can only be accessed with the key card, and same onto the corridors of the rooms. All was an excellent value. Checking in was easy, showed our passports. We didn’t use the common area etc during our stay. Felt safe inside the building all the time. Our room was at the front of the building next to the tram stop, when windows were closed it was quiet. Location is on the outskirts of the city centre, about 10 minute walk. One area didn’t feel very safe when walking to the hostel from the centre, there was always groups hanging around and felt very uneasy to walk past - when coming out of the hostel, turning right and walking straight over at the cross roads towards the city centre. There are better routes to walk to avoid that area. However, actual location of the hostel was good, it was quiet, next to a tram stop, shop a few doors down.

Anker hostel had the perfect location where the tram stop is just in front of it and approximate 2 minutes walking from the entrance. The room was okay and worth for the price but the bathroom can be better in terms of ventilation. Furthermore, they provide towel but not the shampoo

This was the most reasonable hotel for the price and area for the week we booked. Location is very close to Oslo centre. Room was a bit small for 3 but since we were out most if the days, it was adequate for us. First time we had a wet room for a shower room. Was small but functional. Had no bath mat thou, or anywhere to put shower stuff in shower. also no tea/coffee making facilities. However overall it was a reasonable room. The highlight was the breakfast. Very good selection and variety.

The hostel itself is fine, staff is kind and helpful. WiFi is working ok. The only two things I’d like to object are - the staff didn’t tell and on booking it’s not written, that you need you own lock to lock your things in the locker. Second thing is mold in the bathroom. The location is fine, 10 min walk from the main station, just need to pass some weird people in front of the Kiwi shop on the way.

Value for a budget option was great. Major issue relative to other similar options are: - Limited lockable luggage/value able options. The rooms have no lockers, so you’re left with either: a single bank of ~20 small lockers for >100 rooms for small valuables. B. A luggage room with a key anyone else with luggage can access. The no1 thing that should be rectified is ordering lockable cages for under the beds or more of these small lockers. I got lucky going on a Wednesday where one small locker was free, but they were occupied all weekend. - The area is a bit dodgy. Still very central and nearby cool areas, but the east of the hostel area is a bit dodgy, lots of homeless and drug users. Some noisy at night outside my window. Not an issue for me, I was cycling around and this was a minor inconvenience, but others might need to be wary. - Chargers for the top-bunks. There’s no plugs up there. So bring a long cable or be prepared to charge in an area others can access.

Staff were kind and helpful, even letting me take a towel out of the hostel to a sauna, and the check in and luggage storage were easy. The common area is nice and bed was comfy. Fundamentally there were a few key issues. Biggest issue was no lockers or anywhere to secure my stuff during the stay. Only cabinets in the room were non locking. It’s an 8 person room, I understand Oslo is a safe city but I would like to lock my valuables. Beds have no privacy curtains or walls, so everyone can see everyone else in the rooms. And there were not enough outlets for all the guests, and the outlets were not near the beds. Very inconvenient. With just lockers this could be a 4 star hostel and with outlets and privacy curtains it would have been 5
