An early pre-concert dinner on a Tuesday evening.
The food was that good I’m still thinking about it!
Steak tartare with chips,
Such a nice way to deliver the tartare with the chips (and I mean regular potato chips) as the vehicle for eating the steak tatare has delicious pickles sprinkled through for bite and flavour.
Moussaka. The moussaka was full of flavour and let’s just say the bowl may have been scraped clean by the end.
The best potato side dish that over delivered. Visually looked like wedges, so I was a little surprised my dinner partner ordered them, but I should have known! Divine and the sauce was delicious.
And a moment for the bowl of lettuce cups drizzled in olive oil and seasoned. Again I wondered why until I stared to pair it with moussaka and it made perfect sense. Like the chips with the tartare, the lettuce cups provided texture and freshness to the creaminess of the moussaka’s incredible sauces.
Didn’t expect to love the food this much - it was a casual dinner that turned into something much more.
Reasonably priced. The bill reflected the wines my daughter had and a grapefruit soda for me.
Would love to see some non-alcoholic wine options in restaurants. You can get bubbles and spritz’s and whole ranges of 0% wines - that would have 100% made my night!
Not a criticism of Edie’s -it’s typical of nearly every restaurant but would be great to see it become a regular thing everywhere!
Go for a leisurely time - it is small and on this night had one staff member doing everything, food and drinks and service so it’s not always going to be snappy when that’s the case.
She was a star.
And everything was worth it!
