This is one of those places that I would love to see everywhere I go! I don't often find places that offer delicious vegan food and gluten free options. I ate at all of their locations. Loved their noodles, the empanadas, the pizza, the soup, the tea... I can go on. I often think of your food, Anapurna's, at other cities 😩😁. I highly recommend them.

Google
A perfectly meatless place for Ash Wednesday. A Lebanese wrap and a falafel wrap, both on chapati, were really good. Side salad also good (although the balsamic leaned toward vinegary). Side fries oversalted and a little underdone: could've used a few more seconds in the frier. But having been to several, Annapurna's is pretty consistent, with great wraps.

Google
Went on on a Sunday night to order dinner. Ordered 2 ablt's, a falafel wrap, 2 fries, desserts, and a bowl of kitchari. The kitchari was good but could have been hotter temp wise. The ablt's were good. The fries were ice cold. I had to heat them in the oven when I got home. The falafel was good but extremely spicy. The mango Lassi was good. I did not try the desserts yet. Service was not friendly.

Google
I used to love this place but its recently gone downhill. I ordered Thai style stir fry and there was a worm in the food! It was also missing the tofu and had little to no flavor. The samosa I got had raw dough in the center. With the prices going up and the food quality going down, I dont think I'll be back.

Eating Vegan while traveling can be tricky, but we will be making this a regular stop when passing through Albuquerque or Santa Fe again. Everything was so tasty and fresh! Service was exceptional. I especially loved the vegan cardamom cookies I snagged on the way out to eat on the road!

Google
Their food is always so tasty and nourishing! They have so many healthy and fulfilling options to choose from. Today I tried the Mumbai wrap with feta cheese and it was a 10/10. The flavors might not suit everyone's tastes; I remember trying this place when I was younger and I didn't like it that much because I was used to junk food. But if you like eating vegetables and spices then this is a good place for you. Most of the food seems to use Indian spices, so it's a bit of a fusion restaurant. Also, everything tastes really fresh and home cooked. Whenever I'm sick I end up ordering from this place to give my body the nutrients and immunity boost that it needs.

Google
Good food Small portions high priced $$$ Cool place with a nice eclectic vibe. Tried the Kitchari bowl it was very good, but a very small portion size for the piece. The picture can help because it's a standard plate size. Got a bag of cookies to go, also small portion for the price.

Google
A unique experience. The aesthetic interior, the murals, and the food have the soul of Indian flavors yet very different dishes on the menu. This is one of the very few innovative places I’ve ever seen. We got the South Indian sampler, thali, and the famous Kitchari. The food is humble, fresh, minimal, no salt(the only salt you taste is from the fresh veggies). The food shows how deep and rooted, essential, healthy Indian food is!

Yelp
We stopped by here for dinner before our flight. Ordered a kids pizza cheese for my niece and the server accidentally gave it to the other table. We waited patiently... an hour later and we can't even enjoy our dinner because my niece is still waiting for her simple cheese pizza. Requested it to be in a take out pizza box, we have to head to the airport. Disappointing, longest wait for a kids cheese pizza- the cheese wasn't even melted! ... the servers that evening couldn't care less... it was their mistake, they could've offered a muffin to the little girl to help with her hunger... nope nothing. Awful customer service. Food is sub par, their Masala sauce is not even appetizing. Nice restaurant decor, simple cafe with plants unfortunately food and customer service was poorly delivered.

Yelp
It was dead, only 2 other folks in there eating... it should have been a sign. I asked the counter person to describe two dishes because I couldn't decide between them. She didn't have a good answer. So, I order: - pizza (for the kiddo) - mushroom wrap (for the partner) - beet & date salad (me) - poutine fries (for the table) 2 of 4 were so bad I asked for a refund, and it would have been 3 but the partner struggled to eat the kiddos pizza because he didn't want to deal with the staffs attitude. How can pizza be so rough a kid won't eat it? How can you fail to describe a dish but when it's suggested that it's not what you describe suddenly you are being very clear in your description? Who would pay $15 for a salad and be "ok" getting bagged lettuce with canned beats, missing the dates, and "roasted" nuts missing the "roast"? I mean, it was bad. I rarely return something. Usually the partner can vacuum whatever it is up with his black hole of a tummy, but there was no way. When I asked him if he felt the value of the mushroom wrap was worth $15 he said "nothing special." The kicker: primary staff were rude, it was the back of house staff that came through to correct issues. Upside: it was clean. ... too many downsides. 0/10 would not recommend

Yelp
We shared a Green Machine smoothie and Samosas with cilantro lime dip, and were pleasantly surprised. The smoothie was tangy and delicious, while the samosas were savory with a rich flavor. Very satisfying! Customer service was bland.

Yelp
Stopped in yesterday for a coffee clatch with a dear friend. We ordered chai and the coconut pie. Each chai comes with a refill. We bought two doses. It was warm Rich and fulfilling. Pie was very coconutty. Almost felt healthy! Haha! It's probably better than coconut cream pie It was quiet - which was ultra perfect for catching up with my friend!

Yelp
This is after yet another visit, and a chance for me to correct some typos from my previous review. I love the Outpost Performance Center just a pleasant half block away from Annapurna's. The food is very good, the menu has varied choices and shows creativity towards vegan foods. I am particularly fond of the almond chocolate pie, and the cookies with jam. So fond, that I went even though there was no performance at Outpost! The setting is relaxed and pleasant and the wait staff all seem to be smiling constantly.

Yelp
Great vegan options, and ambiance is nice and calming. Love how everything is vegan and vegetarian. I had a bad experience in the past with customer service, but I have not had a single negative interaction since that, and they even reached out and offered me a gift card, so I needed to update my review. I appreciate the offerings and kindness and am glad there are multiple locations in town!

Yelp
This is my favorite place ever!!! I've already been here 3x in one day - visiting from out of town. The chilled chai, lavender mint tea, and portobello dosa wrap with masala fries are phenomenal! I'll be coming back 3x again tomorrow while I'm in the area!!! 100 stars We need one of these in San Diego

Yelp
While I love the food, the service at Annapurna is horrible. I am not able to make an order over the phone and the communication from staff is just down right rude. It is disappointing. Again, the food is great. The owner and the staff behind the counter not so great.

Yelp
Really great food; I had Pad Thai. Service was a bit slow although they didn't seem too busy. Never been before and will come back.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was pretty good but the line was really long on the day we went, which could have been because of the balloon festival. Part of my to go order was left out but I had no trouble when I went back for it.
google avatar

Fergie M.

Yelp
Food was okay. They wanted to charge $2 extra for a side of ketchup. I think that's nuts. I'll probably try a different vegetarian option in Santa Fe next time.
google avatar

Katy K.

Yelp
I love the one in Santa Fe and the ABQ one. Friendly service to go with the fresh, yummy, healthy food. Ahhh!
google avatar

Maggie B.

Yelp
Food was excellent! We ordered the Mumbai Frankie, which was basically a samosa in burrito form (sooo good), and the Puri Bhaji (also delicious). We got the black mango tea and a carrot cupcake for dessert. Lots of great options here.

Yelp
While in town, I stopped by this little gem last night for dinner and fell in love. Not only did they have a great deal of vegan options, but the atmosphere was very peaceful and welcoming. The staff was very nice and helpful, the establishment was clean and spacious, and the walls were hand painted. It was truly a lovely little cafe. I'd come here everyday just to try new things if I could.

Yelp
Great, fresh, healthy vegetarian food, love the laid-back atmosphere. Chai is delicious. Friendly service. I try to eat here when I'm in the neighborhood.

Yelp
I am not a vegetarian but I do value good veggies in my diet. On a whim in the midst of a solo adventure I was on in 2013, I stumbled upon this very restaurant. I had never eaten at a vegetarian restaurant before and wasn't sure I'd even know what to order. This random day, I ordered a spinach pizza. It was perhaps the most delicious thing I've ever eaten, so much so I think about it still. I remember the atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming. I just had to share this experience, albeit 11 years later. I'm far away from ABQ now, but I'm quite glad to see they are still in business.

Yelp
Glad to try Annapurna at Central/Univ location (after having been to 4th St NW St location previously). I honestly liked the 4th St NW location a bit more as I enjoyed a chanting music in the background and general larger space for diners (vs this place is slightly more crunched together). Plus, at 4th St NW location, it's much easier to find a parking spot in a large parking lot vs. on a street/paid area around this location. Foodwise, I tried Chipati Rolls with Veggies 1 (a mix of butternut squash...Thai smething...) and thought it was ok. It was slightly bland..but the food tasted fresh and healthy as usual. I just thought I would appreciate a little more spice than a bland wrap. My friend's dish looked just ok. He ordered a grilled cheese with fries..but I thought it looked slightly burnt/too dark (esp the fries). Overall, a good place to have vegetarian/vegan food...but perhaps...I would try other dishes on their menu where the food isn't super Americanized and maybe not too bland.

Yelp
I am traveling through Albuquerque and found this place. Excellent food and atmosphere. The pad Thai was excellent. Will stop again when I am traveling again. #vegan

Yelp
We love visiting this restaurant and were looking forward to eat organic ayuverdic vegan food while traveling through interstate hwy 40. We have visited the one in Santa Fe, NM but not the one in Albuquerque yet. Meals were delicious and service was friendly and helpful. I chose the vegan sampler which includes sambhar, vada, coconut chutney, and mini dosa. Hubby chose the vegan thali. Delicious and satisfying! I purchased desserts to go: pecan pie and coconut pie. Yummmm. We enjoyed them through out the rest of our journey. We will definitely be back when or if we pass through Albuquerque again. Thank you for the meals.

Yelp
Love the Ayurvedic aspect to this place, the menu is dosha specific (of course you can eat anything but that's really cool if your into holistic wellness) and all of the food I've tried here is amazing, grounding and very authentic Indian profiles (at least what I consider to be as an American perspective)

Supriya T.

Yelp
Not for Indians !!! After having a long drive, we thought we found a good place to eat, but after tasting the food, I realized It's one of the worst food places I've ever tasted. Food is not fresh, and they took almost 40min to serve. Service is not good. Looks like the front desk employee doesn't know anything about the food. The ambiance is ok..
google avatar

Stedy T.

Yelp
Love this food always get it as much as I can when in town. It doesn't hurt my stomach and it has vegan food. All the teas are great too. Her classes are fun and extremely educational on healing even though it's just food.

Yelp
Went here with friends. 2 of us ordered the Pad Thai. It was swimming with oil. We drained a half cup of oil from each plate. No exaggeration. We waited for someone to check back with us to see how our food was. No one did, so my friend went to the counter and asked the woman to come over and take a look at our food. She did. Said they marinate the vegetables in oil and when they get the vegetables out there is a lot of cold oil on them. And since we had already eaten some of our food, there was nothing they would do. Asked for the manager or owner. Was told they were not there and they wouldn't do anything different anyway. Ambiance was fine. I was disappointed in the food, but the customer non-service...

Glorianne D.

Yelp
Overpriced for the quality and quantity of food provided. The location is convenient.

Yelp
This place has so much potential so it makes me sad to go and be disappointed. The menu in theory looks amazing. It has definitely gone downhill over the years, and I sincerely hope they can get better management/organization/employees or whatever it takes to save them. I know the owner often posts defensive replies to reviews criticizing their restaurant, but maybe if they were more open to constructive criticism they can improve. Visited the location on Silver, waited several minutes for counter person to come back to take our order, waited about 45 minutes for food, forgot the side sauce she upcharged me for, and sadly the food (South Sampler) was very bland and subpar. Also, the table we sat at had crumbs and spills from prior customers as it had not been wiped. If management makes huge changes in food quality (and consistency, as I have ordered good things in the past) flavor, service and cleanliness, I'd love to come back and enjoy the potential this place has.

Yelp
I don't usually go anywhere with less than 4 stars on Yelp. That being said, I was on my way to Sunport and decided this was the best and healthiest option for dinner on the way.. there were a few other people in front of me. Got a few GF cookies and a carrot cupcake to snack on while I waited. And hot chocolate. These items were all yummy and tasted healthy. The tall staff person was very nice and helpful. Even after the sandwiches came out to other table, I was waiting over 20 minutes. None of my real food/actual dinner had come out yet. I went up to counter to check in and the staff member seemed surprised I hadn't gotten my food.. then noticed some of it was sitting on counter in kitchen (I could even see it from other side of counter from where I was standing). He then advised they were out of the vegetables I had ordered.. fine that he didn't let me know when I ordered but why did it take over 30 minutes and me going up to counter to find this out? The soup and rice were cold. The rice had licorice seeds which I didn't like (strange flavor and it was hard to eat around them), and this wasn't specified on the menu so I was expecting plain, white rice. The soup was spilling out of container, which was falling apart. It was delicious soup, though. And the black eyed peas with vegetables had a good flavor as well. I would order the soup and vegetables again and eat in so I can get my food warmed up if need be. Summary: Great soup and good customer service. Healthier than most other options. But all in all, it was not an experience worth over $30.

Yelp
The place serves few Indian foods. I went to this restaurant for dinner and had the puri and sabji which is a puffy soft bread which is accompanied by soft cooked potatoes and onions, seasoned with spices. I was unable to finish my dinner because the bread was thin and crispy and the vegetable dish had no flavors. The service was quick, the ambiance is nice to hang out with friends and maybe order a snack or two. But if you are looking for a meal, I would go elsewhere.

Yelp
I love this place and plan on eating my way through their menu while in Albuquerque for several months (on business). I eat a whole food plant based diet as much as I possibly can and this place hits the spot. It's so nice to be able to walk in to a restaurant and be able to order anything on the menu. The food is healthy (not drenched in fat/oils), clearly made from scratch with wholesome ingredients, and it's delicious! The teas are high quality loose leaf and very yummy too, and don't forget the desserts...yum! So far I've tried the Yogi Bowl (the sauce... yum!), Falafel wrap, ABLT, Dal (soup), Masala Fries (with garlic dip... yum!), and Soup of the Day. I'd order anyone of them again.

Yelp
We were in town for a Bob Dylan concert. We made Annapurna our home base for the mornings. The atmosphere was chill. An old dude with a library book. Another Dylan fan. The adorable cashier and his girlfriend coming in for food. It wasn't too busy or loud. We spent time there talking and enjoying every part of it. I had the vegan scramble one morning, soup and salad the other. I cleaned both plates. The Albuquerque Breakfast tea was so delicious, I asked to buy it and take it home. They said they make it by hand, in house. There wasn't a way to sell it like that. I will say, Sunday the tea was strong and the dosa soft. Monday, the tea was weaker and the dosa didn't taste as fresh. The service wasn't as warm. The coconut cake was still amazing. I would still be a regular if I was local.

Yelp
This is the best place to get vegetarian comfort food I have tried in Albuquerque. My favorite English teacher from UNM took everyone from our literature class to eat here for lunch one afternoon. She had our food ordered in advance, so our service was really quick. We had a great time setting out on their patio and visiting. I believe there were around 15 of us there. Now about the Kitchari we ate! It's a dish of basmati rice, yellow mung beans, veggies, and spices. They brought out a dish that had limes, shredded coconut, cilantro, and ghee to pick and choose to add to your Kitchari. I put some of all it in. I can't even tell you how amazing this stuff was. My teacher said it's eaten a lot for breakfast in different countries. Well, I don't know where I have been all my life for breakfast, but I have been missing out for sure. I either have to learn to make this, or I will need to buy it in bulk to keep in my fridge to heat up for breakfast because I need this in my life. It was healthy and delicious. They brought us out Lavender Mint and Lemon Ginger drinks which were both light and refreshing. While we were eating the owner came out to check on us and she was really nice. My teacher had breast cancer a few years back and told us that the owner of this restaurant use to bring her food every week while she was going through her treatments. I thought it was a really sweet and companionate act of love and kindness.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to eat in all of New Mexico. Their wide variety of vegetarian options makes this a great place to eat for everyone. They offer healthy delicious food for a super affordable price. Try the cauliflower tacos - they're my favorite!

Yelp
Vegetarian on the Corner of Silver Avenue & Yale Blvd March 10, 2019 -- Walking up to Annapurna's® World Vegetarian Cafe from Silver Avenue in Albuquerque, N.M., the full mural storefront transports you, and you are suddenly no longer in ABQ: you are in a colorful corner in vegetarian heaven. Annapurna's® World Vegetarian Cafe describes themselves as "New Mexico's premiere organic plant based restaurant serving an Ayurvedically balanced menu," according to their website. Everything is made from scratch. Inside of the cafe, you are immediately drawn in by the different aromas, the resin of the weekend drama was immediately washed away, and I was at peace. My boyfriend and I ordered from a gentleman, who was happy to give suggestions on what to order. The menu choice is plentiful, almost a little overwhelming, but I ordered based on the staff suggestion. I ordered the "Falafel Wrap." From the menu: "Crispy house-made Falafel, mixed greens, tomato, cucumber slices, feta, garlic sauce and sambal chile wrapped in a chapti or gluten-free crepe with a choice of house salad, masala fries or cup of soup 10.25." I had no idea what a falafel was. A falafel is spiced, deep-fried, balls of mashed chickpeas or fritters and is traditionally a Middle Eastern dish. The falafel added a crispy element to the wrap. The sambal chile added a burn that I require in food as a native New Mexican (red or green?). The cucumber provided additional crunch, as well as a refreshing burst to tame the spice. The chapit, or Indian fry bread, was the palate to hold the contents together. I ordered the daily soup to accompany the dish, a sweet potato lemon grass soup, perfect for dipping the wrap. For the price of this dish, $10.25, you get a generous portion, a side of your choice, professional service, unique atmosphere, and overall a delicious, unique, vegetarian experience in the Southwest. I was lucky enough to enjoy it with a handsome fella, who ordered the last veggie burger accompanied with masala fries. He highly recommends the veggie burger.

Yelp
Great location, great vibe, chill space, extensive menu... lots to love about this vegan/vegetarian chain! I've been to the location in a San Francisco, but this was my first time in Albuquerque. It's a fun spot to walk up to, with beautiful murals covering the outside walls, splashes of bright colors, and a flower-filled patio. Inside is equally colorful and plant-filled, with a peaceful atmosphere. It's all Ayurvedic and sattvic, as well as completely vegetarian (with a huge range of vegan options.) A large portion of the menu is Indian-inspired, but there is also pizza, falafel, Veggie burgers, etc. I opted for the vegan burger and while it wasn't the best veggie burger I've had, it was ok. The masala fries, however, were bomb -- especially with the side of chipotle sauce! I wouldn't order the veggie burger again, but I would definitely return again and recommend to everyone, whether you're veggie or not!

Yelp
Had vegan friends in from out of town, and they were excited to try ABQ's vegan-friendly options. This was a major disappointment. Not one of us particularly liked our food, the best descriptor we could come up with was "Meh". Not much flavor to anything, and small portions on big plates. Would not go back.

Kathy S.

Yelp
I usually go to Annapurna in Santa Fe, the Sambar was so hot it was inedible. The falafel also had a hot sauce on it.. . These are dishes I order and Santa Fe frequently and have never found them overly spicy. Why is there such a difference in the two restaurants?
google avatar

Tommy H.

Yelp
I got the ABLT with fries. It was a very good meal and would get it again. The only complaint would be that the fries where not crispy enough for my liking but they tasted delicious
google avatar

Chelsea C.

Yelp
Cute place and nice atmosphere. I ordered the veggie burger with a side of fries but everything was smothered in a really overwhelming spice which apparently is not ginger idk what it was but it was so hard to stomach. Even the French fries! What is the spice you're using in everything?! It was disgusting. I also had some desserts and was very excited about the carrot cake cupcakes which had excellent flavor but were sooooo dry! The chocolate banana bread bundt also had great flavor but was SUPER dry. :( Won't be back here.

Yelp
This was for delivery, so this review will be a little limited. Based on that, I'd honestly give this 3-1/2, maybe 4 stars. Better than average for sure, especially because vegan food hasn't really caught on in Albuquerque quite yet, especially healthy PLUS delicious vegan food. "Vegan" does not necessarily mean it's good for you. Same applies here. Finding vegan in this town so far proves to be a little more challenging than expected, which is surprising. Make sure to double check the ingredients. When reading the menus and the reviews of several places, we decide to place a note to the restaurant and then a separate note to the driver to double check everything and make sure everything is vegan before it leaves the restaurant. I will start off by saying our meals were tasty. The $5.99 delivery fee plus a tip... not so much. It is what it is. The driver delivered our meal, but somehow didn't notify us in a way we knew and it was sitting on the porch. We had no idea it came until I messaged him 45 minutes after it was to arrive. He said he knocked, maybe he did. Didn't hear it, and we were sitting immediately next to the door (we're in a small place). Anyway... got that cleared up. Cauliflower tacos and side of black beans. Tacos were tasty, beans... eh, they're beans with finely chopped onion and tomato. "Quesa"dilla: tasty and big with fresh avocado. Cup of soup for the day. Some kind of squash (maybe sweet potato) with cinnamon. Tasty and rich. Mango Lassi - pretty good (This part was in the first review which they replied. Skip to go to Update) I'd venture to say, something likely had milk in one of the items, or perhaps canola oil is another culprit. Not sure. (F canola oil is my own personal view, it's noooo good... but whatevs.) My wife and I both had the "bathroom run" and weird, minor stomach ache. Not sure, maybe not. Could be very coincidental. (Still going on and that's too much information.) This is NOT proof, it's just a heads up. It could be something else. We'll certainly give this place another go during our stay to see what happens and updated later. (UPDATE) We tried it again, and I was very happy about their response. No Canola Oil and everything vegan. Terrific. Must've been just an off night for us. This time we had the dosa (huge) the side of spicy lentil soup (forget the name) and the veggie burger. Oh, and the house soup. Everything... terrific. The Dosa was a little tangy for my taste, but it was really good. No issues this time around, and we opted to pick it up to avoid the large 3rd party delivery fee. Worth a 20 minute roundtrip for some reason. It's good for ya! Gets your fatass outta the house. (End UPDATE) We're finding places that identify with being "vegan", but can still likely have eggs in the meal, or dairy (milk, cheese, cream, etc.) A menu item can clearly be marked "vegan" and in the ingredient list you will see items that are not. Just make sure you ask. Long story too long already, I'd give it another go and there are plenty of options. No styrofoam used, so that was a definite plus and no plastic wrapped, plastic silverware either, HUGE plus.

Yelp
I loved this place. Had extra outdoor seating on a quiet patio, lovely women working there, and great customers to talk to. The food was delicious (coming from a non-vegan) the pad Thai was so yummy and I had the ABLT

Carl C.

Yelp
I love the food here. It is one of my go to places. I haven't had everything on the menu, but who really does. The reason for the low review is that every time I order for delivery, I have missing items or incorrect items. I haven't had two deliveries in a row that have been correct this year.Today was no exception. Two items, the green plate, that was supposed to be a vegan pasta and plantain meatballs - which was advertised on their website, is now some salad with what looks like fried rice on it- no one reached out to ask if it is what we wanted said dish because it just says green plate- which I guess means whatever we want to put in your To Go container is what you get. The second item is a Quinoa salad, but just like the many times we ordered the beet salad ingredients that are listed on the website are left off or substituted with whatever someone felt like. This time the dosa was missing as was the feta cheese. Once again if there was no feta in the house, one should reach out to the customer and ask, but not here. Which is hard to believe because they have vegan feta as well. The dosa being missing is just unexplainable except maybe it didn't fit neatly in the bag? In all fairness we ordered using DoorDash, so we were refunded $6, which is the most we have been refunded to date. Usually it's just radio silence. No one has reached out ever. So, while I like the food here, I will have to reserve this eatery for when I go in person as this is my last delivery order.

Yelp
I loved this place. Great vegan options. I had the portobello wrap which was incredibly delicious. We also tried some of their desserts. I will definitely go again if I am ever in town.

Yelp
I've only ever given glowing 5 star reviews before so it saddens me to write this. Annapurna's was one of my favorite places to eat when I was in grad school at UNM years ago. Sadly it has gone down hill. I found myself working on a project at UNM and was excited to eat some Saag Paneer at Annapurna's. It took over 30 minutes to receive an order of a soupy paneer and rice. Staff was uninviting and the whole vibe of the place was stale. I've had better Saag Paneer and the dosa was mushy and soggy, not crisp at all. I had to go back and stand in line a second time to get the water I ordered. Then when the food was finally delivered I had to stand in line a third time just to get silverware. I don't know. I used to really feel good about Annapurna's but I'm not so sure I'll want to go back. Lots of other options when in the UNM area. I am sad to write this because I love good food and I love my city but lunch was a disappointment. Not to mention the price was very steep for the quality and the staff definitely did not deserve the generous tip I left ... oh well ...

Yelp
Annapurna's was on the recommended list for vegetarian restaurants in Albuquerque. They have a variety of different items on the menu true to its name - American, middle-eastern, Indian, Mexican etc. We ordered a few Indian dishes but were somewhat disappointed with the taste of the food. The food was flavorful but not authentic to the dish we ordered. The kitchari tasted like something else because of the spices used. The potato filling for the Puri Bhaji was heavy on the masala but not flavorful. The Mumbai Frankie as well as the Masala Dosa was average as well. Perhaps, the other fares on their menu are more popular and give them the recommendation that they got. We stopped by Paper Dosa, Santa Fe where the food was more flavorful and I would recommend them ahead of Annapurnas if you are looking for Indian food.

Yelp
Updating because I went to the other Annapurna's on 4th Street. Totally different experience. It's still a little slow, and I don't like waiting in a line to order off the menus up front with just one cashier I can see there who is also bringing your food (is that really faster, cheaper, or more efficient? Maybe it's just a thing) but the atmosphere is much, much nicer, friendlier, and cleaner than the one near UNM. Food was great. Really good falafel wrap, masala (sp?) fries, the wrap was a bit dry but compensated for by great sauces on the side. Dessert fruit tart was meh. One of the chais was meh. But breakfast quinoa and avocado toast, so good, my sister has started trying to duplicate that at home because she has it three times a week or more now. I think it's probably worth a stab at guessing what will and won't be so good when ordering food made according to some ayurvedic health principles I don't entirely know about (nor can I spell). Fruit tart I should have figured is not going to make it, if you're used to fruit tarts that have only one standard, how delicious can it be, health be damned. I had a friend who ordered samosas, and the one samosa (more on that in a bit) was huge and looked good, but I am not sure if this is fried or baked or what, and if that would be ideal at room temp. I think their stuff is all at room temp or so, so forget it if you're looking for ice water. This makes those fries confusingly compelling. A not-hot-fry made according to health principles that is so delicious has got to be the food equivalent of nirvana. Blows McDonalds fries with ketchup out of the water, and I am a fan of those. Luckily the cashier came out with one samosa for my friend along with the other food (this took some time), but she also came with a separate bill and asked since he had ordered two and she had only rung up one, if we would like to pay for the second one now, and they would make it and ring it up separately. Heads up, I got a little bit of that same impression at the other Annapurna, there is no free samosa coming with your meal no matter what. I've been thinking how good the food is there, and I'd like to go back with my sister, who is trying to eat out less, sigh. Good enough to maybe be compelled to go by myself anyway.

Yelp
UPDATE: They do not use Ghee in their food. ----------------------------------------------------------------- First of all, before this is perceived incorrectly, I think I may not have explained everything. Thats the way this is all going to work out better for everyone in the long run. Secondly I do not feel completely deceived. I want to thank the team for their effort. I'm trying to do right by everyone too. Everyone from the back kitchen to the delivery drivers. And everybody in between is appreciated. The truth of the matter is that this is about every restaurant in America listing all the ingredients on the menu. I didn't know if I wanted to say this and go that far with it, but I think this will include Public Schools and Prisons. Somehow this is all related to idea of a Mosque being a place that serves good nourishment. We, everybody, we are doing everything right so far, this is that health and wellness momentum I mentioned earlier that's sweeping a nation by storm. This is how it does involve all our love of masala dosas. I'm going to leave it at that. Third, ONE STAR, is actually in reference to all of our greatest potentials, plural. Everybody's fullest potential deserves to be reinterpreted to include the sky is the limit though. Translation? (Other than photosynthesis literally growing our fruits and vegetables, where from?) More about that, later on. This transparency is going nationwide and everybody will be better. All for it. We are All Stars. Remember. We will rebrand an existing restaurant in the USA to be an Anna Purna's in every major city, and the main character will be a Bull with a Spatula. Real Talk-- That was my favorite part. I think the Head Chef at Annapurna's would be delighted to be in on the Success that awaits our Country collectively. And I can't speak for them directly so I don't know for sure. May I offer a Resolution please. Health and Well-Being is about a billion bucks a year industry. We'll just try the same system we have now with everyone around. I see they are on the right track with it. This is a supply and demand issue and I think it had to do with Jupiter. What a great time to mention heirlooms, as in the annual Exposition. That level. This is the friction that was necessary to create the momentum that sweeps the cafeteria floors of a Nation by storm. Smells yum. Yet none of this is being lost in translation. Yelp is telling me I'm looking pretty epic-- awesome. Yep, Indian Cuisine food is my Favorite. Annapurna's was good when I ate there. When we change 1 little thing, we are doing the right thing for so many other people also. That's a big deal. I once again want to thank everyone involved for making this possible. Vega = Vegan Star Constellation (A the movie Contact reference here). With that said lets get down to business towards a better Resolution for educating everybody about whats in it at Cafeteria's across America. ----------------------------------------- They use GHEE in their food. That means it's not Vegan. I called the the one in Santa Fe and an employee verified. And they are putting a "V" logo next to their menu items. If this is incorrect, please let me know immediately. Because if you want to be 100% Vegan, you must exclude Ghee. And this place needs to be more Honest. Look at the falafel on the menu too-- as of today had that "V" logo, and yet it says right there in the ingredients it contains cheese. Their food tastes good, I'm guessing they might accidentally be being deceptive to customers about what's in it though. So if its any consolation, that probably wasn't what they intended. And from now on we will all know for sure. And we'll also know what is in every body else's food across America-- restaurant's involved and beyond. Revolution is Resolved.

Yelp
I wish I could give a zero rating to this restaurant! Food is just horrible! I ordered Masala Dosa which came with watery & very sour coconut chutney that had no sign of coconut. Sambar was more cooked daal with no taste and masala inside Dosa had excessive garam masala with some kind of bitter taste! We went to this place seeing some of the positive reviews, which is totally deceptive. I would prefer to stay hungry than go to this place again! I don't think they care about what & how customers feel & say. Manager tells me, "chutney is not authentic because the restaurant is a world vegetarian restaurant!" Seriously?! This is the most absurd argument I have ever heard for why something was not made right! Oh, and pay attention while paying bill. Make sure you select the tip otherwise they automatically add $6.78 in tip. Please stay away from this place!

Yelp
This place is great. Though I'm not a vegan or a vegetarian, I love coming here, because I know I can get great vegetarian dishes which aren't adulterated ... too much. Most of their dishes are pretty basic. They use the freshest ingredients. Not only do they have some Indian staples like dal and domas, some of their dishes have a New Mexican flourish, all which fit in the Ayurvedic dietary philosophy. Their baked goods are great, and many are gluten-free. They tend to sweeten these with agave nectar. I'm not necessarily a fan of agave nectar, because it has been proven to have about as much sugar content as cane sugar. Don't get me wrong, I love my sugar, but it's something I try to keep to a minimum. But don't let my whining over the agave nectar keep you from trying their desserts. They are worth every bite. Their house chai is incredibly tasty, and it seems to be about as authentic as you can get. However, being conscientious about my sugar intake, It would be nice if their house chai didn't automatically come sweetened. They sweeten it with raw cane sugar. Like many restaurants which taut themselves as healthy alternatives, Annapurna feels compelled to pre-sweeten their homemade chai. I say, let the customer sweeten their own. A lot of us who frequent healthy restaurants are working hard to avoid any type of sweetener, including agave nectar, no matter how yummy it is. But with all that said, if you want authentic, wonderful chai, come here. I haven't found chai this great anywhere else in the city. Plus they give one free refill. Annapurna gets so busy and the lines are quite long. The waitstaff is fast, but many customers are new to the place and not sure what to get, so waiting can take longer than at most restaurants. It would be great if Annapurna had a separate queue for people who only want something to drink, whether it's for dining in or take-out. They recently put in a second cash register, which helps. So make sure you arrive early during those peak times. Annapurna is one of the healthiest restaurants in the area. Thankfully they have more than one location. They also offer classes about Ayurvedic cooking and philosophy.

Yelp
I'm vegan and prefer Ayurvedic and sattvik diet i was SOOOO STOKED to find this place! The decor is trendy, this is not a place where someone is going to talk ur ear off about the food either the staff very much leave you to your peace and seems like an amazing place to grab dinner or have some tea and work on a term paper. My boyfriend and i are visiting from San Diego and only had 2 days in abq but u can believe we came here! Thanks Annapurna's World!
