Annie B's Spanish Kitchen

The Almadraba was an outstanding experience! Annie's connections to the community got us super close to the ships practicing this ancient tuna harvesting technique -- updated to be more humane and provide much better quality. We learned a lot from her and ship captain Ignacio. After, we feasted multiple times at fine restaurants -- on the prized tuna rojo -- drank lots of Jerez/Sherry, and took part in the Ruta del Atún in Zahara. We shopped at the Barbate market then cooked in her kitchen, and were treated to a pleasant flamenco on her roof terrace. Annie's understanding of the culture is deep and her organizational skills are top-notch, frequently having to adjust in-flight due to the tides, restaurant availability, etc. A great experience, it exceeded my expectations. I'd be happy to join her on a subsequent tour.

annie b's spanish kitchen (with a wee dram of scottish thrown in) is the perfect place to get to know the food and wine of andalusía and make the acquaintance of a passionate educator and ambassador for the south of spain. spend a few days with her, cooking and feasting on the local tuna and you'll never wield a tin opener again.

What a fun day! Annie is a delightful lady that taught us much about the market and cooking seafood in a short amount at time. With hands on instruction and history of our wines and foods it was an all round worth every minute and dime experience that I will repeat again! Thank you Annie B and Pepi!

Learning to cook at Annie B's Spanish Kitchen We had never been to Vejer de la Frontera before, so it was a delight to combine our first trip to the town with a visit to Annie B's Spanish Kitchen. Annie first of all took us to the market at nearby Barbate where we bought all the fresh ingredients, including pargo and lubina for making our salt-baked fish dish. To our amazement, whilst we were inside the market a "flash mob" appeared and began dancing and singing, much to the amusement of the stall-holders - though I don't suppose this treat can always be arranged for all visitors to Annie B's Spanish kitchen! Annie is particularly knowledgeable about the almadraba method of catching Atlantic bluefin tuna and, as a passionate "sherry educator", knew exactly which tipple went with each dish we prepared later in the day. She guided us through her selection of delicious recipes which were easy to prepare (even for a novice cook like my husband), but which looked much more elaborate. Annie is excellent teacher and we had a fantastic time at Casa Alegre. She tailors her cooking days according to your level of expertise and interests, I would recommend a visit to Annie B's Kitchen to anyone. Can't wait to go back and try a different kind of cooking.

Visiting Annie B's Spanish kitchen was a great experience, right from going to the market to start the day up until enjoying the delicious food we prepared under Annie's watchful eye. A fun and relaxed atmosphere, I left with great memories as well as great recipes!
