What an absolute nightmare. We had a reservation for the location at South Temple, which is closed for renovations, it turns out.
We received a bunch of emails during the days leading up to our stay from the Anniversary Inn directly concerning our stay but without mentioning our room did basically not exist.
After about an hour knocking on doors and trying different phone numbers, none of which work, we went over to the other location in SLC.
It turned out it was our own fault we weren't notified their hotel didn’t exist because we don’t have a US phone number, they were fine sending us plenty of mails about other subjects, though.
The person at the reception desk really tried to help us and we did eventually get a room at the other location.
Not in the theme we wanted but we did get a tour and could pick from a range of rooms.
Sadly, our room (which turned out to be the one they had already put aside for us, so no excuse there) wasn’t cleaned. There were still dirty towels in the bathroom and the toilet wasn’t even flushed. I can only hope the sheets we slept in were fresh.
I asked to have it cleaned up as we were going out for dinner, when we came back over an hour later, it still wasn’t cleaned up.
We waited in the reception area until it was, but aside from throwing a basket of clean towels on our table, nothing was cleaned, the dirty towels were still in there and there was dirt all over the floor.
The room itself (The Grand Suite) was nice but kind of dated.
We had to fill out a sheet for breakfast the morning after, they bring it to your room. We asked for the slot between 7.30 and 8 am but that was unfortunately already filled up, so we went with 8 am and 8.30 instead.
I guess you already know where this is going, by 8.45, we still hadn't gotten anything.
We tried calling reception a couple of times and we finally got through.
The person at the reception assured us breakfast would be up in a couple of minutes.
About 15 minutes later, they finally showed, with all other things than what we had ordered. My oatmeal was replaced by fruit loops, my scones by a yoghurt with granola, my boyfriend got pastries instead of a ham and cheese croissant, his eggs and our both our coffees were cold.
We stayed in a couple of motels during our roadtrip and I can honestly say, all of them were better at about a third of the price.
Really, the staff did what they could and I feel really sorry for them having to work in these kind of conditions.
It's clear that management couldn’t care less about both their staff and their guests and they are just trying to make as much money as possible without putting in any effort.
Really, stay at a Super 8 instead, you will be better off.
