17 Best Things to Do in Athens, From Hitting the Beach to Gazing at Ruins | Condé Nast Traveler

"On the first floor of a neoclassical townhouse on grungy Vathis Square, Andria Mitsakos curates a “shoppable museum” that swings from antique textiles and Egyptian kaftans to Mexican baskets, vintage kimonos, ceramics, jewelry, and locally crafted brass objects—color and soul in equal measure." - Rachel Howard

On a sweltering summer day in Athens, I found myself longing to explore a vintage shop—but I had no energy to sift through places that weren’t thoughtfully curated. That’s when The Anthologist appeared like a gem among the top recommendations. I noticed it was by appointment only and assumed I’d miss the chance, but thanks to their exceptional responsiveness and warm customer service, I was able to book a visit immediately. Stepping inside was pure magic—far beyond what I’d imagined. The space was an enchanting blend of vintage treasures: beautiful furniture, intricate rugs, and countless one-of-a-kind pieces that still linger in my mind. Many of these finds were available for purchase, making the experience even more irresistible. What truly sets this place apart, though, is Andria—the visionary behind it all. She not only curates with an impeccable eye but also creates her own line of unique home items, accessories, clothing, collaborating with skilled artisans from around the globe. Every piece carries a soul, a story, a sense of place—making The Anthologist more than just a shop, but a world of its own. It was love at first sight: with the space, the ethos, and with Andria herself. An unforgettable experience.

Beautiful selection of things in a gorgeous old building. The staff is extremely kind and helpful. Only thing is I think the best selection of items is at their boutiques in Paros. Note: it’s by appointment only so you can’t just show up. You can find their phone number on Google Maps.

An extremely thoughtful and well-designed homage to the beauty of craftsmanship and artisanry from around the world. The space itself is gorgeous - a reconverted neoclassical Athenian building - and the curated objects each have their own story. I particularly love the folkloric Greek textiles. In an era of fast fashion and quick design that makes shopping feel like eating an unsatisfying bag of crisps on an empty stomach, Anthologist is a full, slow meal.

The atention to details, the curation of the pieces and the selection offered is outstanding. The design of the place is another level. I can not recommend Anthologist more as a MUST stop when visiting Athens. Always keeping an eye on what new things they have.
