"At this venerable Columbus confectionary business, buckeye candies are crafted with 100% real milk chocolate, including chocolate liqueur and cocoa butter. This formula provides a contrast to the darker chocolate or compound chocolates often used in other buckeyes. These candies also feature double-roasted peanut butter, developed specifically for Anthony-Thomas, which offers a deep, creamy flavor. Each buckeye is topped with a white chocolate cap, colored to look like peanut butter, which helps extend the candy’s shelf life. Buckeyes are the No. 1 selling item at Anthony-Thomas, with more than 14 million sold each year. Nick Trifelos, a fifth-generation member of the original founding family, oversees the sales and distributor division. He works alongside his mother, Candi Trifelos, and grandfather, Joseph Zanetos, continuing the family tradition. “We’ve refined our recipe to ensure each piece not only looks good but delivers a robust peanut butter flavor wrapped in smooth milk chocolate – our family’s legacy in every bite,” Trifelos says." - Wendy Pramik

The tour is fun and interesting; the guide was knowledgeable and friendly. And there is absoluyely no way to resist the amazing display of chocolate and sweets when the tour ends at the the shop.

Definitely worth a visit! They offer tours every hour, that last about 30 minutes. Our tour guide was very informative and we really enjoyed seeing the processes. They were making & packing Snickers Christmas trees when we toured. I never gave thought to how those were made, but now I have a full understanding. You can’t take pictures on the manufacturing floor for obvious reasons, but that was ok. Pricing is $4/adult & $2/kids, which is very reasonable. You also get $2 back for each ticket, when purchasing in the gift shop. It wasn’t crowded when we went on a Monday morning around 11am. We picked up some yummy chocolate and gained some knowledge! Win win!

I took their open house tour and had a great time. It was well organized and the people I met were lovely. It seems to be a happy place and the employees came across as happy. If I were looking for a new job, I'd apply here for no other reason than everyone had a good attitude. Also, the candy is as fresh as can be here and it's amazing.

Google
Fantastic place for the family! Growing up in Columbus, I, of course was familiar with Anthony Thomas, but never went to the factory until now, many, many years later. Went with my family over winter vacation. Took a guided tour which was very inexpensive and very informative. Plus, if you buy something in the gift shop on the way out, you essentially make the price of the tour back, which was $1 for kids and $2 for adults, since they give you a coupon for that on your way out. We got information about the history of not only the company, but of chocolate making, as well. Plus we got to see how Anthony Thomas chocolates are made, as well as contracted chocolates they do for Big Brand chocolate companies, as well. And at the end, a sweet treat for everyone! Definitely worth the trip and glad that we made reservations to do this. Mary, our guide, was incredible.

Very educational and insightful. The lady giving the tour was patient and thorough, which was appreciated. The gift shop had a nice selection of goodies to take home.

The company store is always stocked with the things you want. I live in Victorian Village so the 5th Ave store is much more convenient. It used to be a primo store - now not so much. The staff isn’t very interested in helping me find what I want. Their response “the company store might have it”. Have they ever heard of picking up the phone and HELPING me find what I’m looking for? Years ago you could not ASK for better staff. Now I would rate them a zero. Of course - I have no idea what kind of support they get from management.

Yelp
This location includes both a candy shoppe and the factory. When you initially enter, you are greeted by all of the wonderous wall-to-wall chocolates you can find at the candy shoppes. A real draw is the giant buckeye on display behind a glass case that is very fun and impressive to see. You also check in here for tours, which you can schedule online in advance or walk in and hope they have openings. We had registered online previously, so it was just a quick check-in with name for us. Everyone receives a coupon for their ticket for use in the shoppe afterwards - $2 off per $4 ticket. Our tour guide greeted us and had us follow her down the hallway that connects the shoppe to the factory, where she gave us an introduction to the history of the company and how chocolate is grown and delivered (they now receive it in massive tanker trucks full of liquid chocolate!). Once you leave the hallway and enter the factory, photos cannot be taken. The factory lines allow you to see the different areas, which include a warm space where they work with pouring chocolate into molds and preparing candies, which are then taken by conveyer belt to the cold room to be packaged. Our tour guide also explained when machines can be used and when things have to be done by hand. And yes, it smelled delightful in there! At the end of the tour, we returned to the shoppe where we were each given a buckeye to enjoy as we perused the options. We ended up with a chocolate bar, several of the seasonal chocolate eggs with different fillings, dinosaur chocolate pops, and more. There is plentiful parking out front. Fun little tour!

Yelp
A BOGO usually means buy one get the second free. Apparently at Anthony Thomas BOGO means buy one and get the second for 50% off. That is really 25% off when you do the math. ( 100%+50%)/2 =75%. I like Anthony Thomas but I hate misleading emails.

Yelp
Factory store has a giant buckeye, and a 50+ lb Santa. These are differently the best buckeyes. The other chocolates are very good too. Hope to be able to go on the tour someday. Pro tip, if you want some "loose" buckeyes, get them from the counter, they are less cost than the individual pre wrapped ones. Our favorite molded chocolate is the bowling one, it can be gifted to a bowler, or for a gag gift.

John J F.

Yelp
Great place good service amazing candy. Love those buckeyes. Place is massive you can actually get tours

Gwen W.

Yelp
Interesting trip inside. Not as elaborate setup in the execution space as I was envisioning. Meaning there was a decent amount of space between ginormous mixers, conveyor belts and big refrigerators. Small conveyor belts squirt chocolate and other fillings into molds. Warm areas for melting the chocolate, and there's cool areas where the freezing and packaging happens. But, at any rate, the walking tour of the factory was cool. These ladies seemed to know there stuff. A new tour leaves the gift shop area every 15-20 minutes, so they have this down to a science. The tour concludes with a buckeye for every patron. Nice touch! Oh, and your ticket will get you a discount on any candies, after the tour. Every adult ticket gets $2 off. Every child's ticket gets $1 your entire purchase. Enjoy!

Yelp
We provided Anthony Thomas Columbus bars as wedding snacks/favors during our reception. We got so many compliments - the skyline wrapper was the perfect memento for our (mainly) out-of-town guests. The milk chocolate is always delicious, and I was pleased to have some bars leftover to enjoy ourselves! All the chocolate is so creamy and excellent - I always love shopping here, and it was great to include a local vendor in our wedding weekend!

Yelp
Easter season is quickly upon us and the perfect opportunity to take a tour of the Anthony Thomas Factory. Growing up, Anthony Thomas candies were a tradition with my grandparents. It is nice to visit this throwback of tasty treats.

Jeanne S.

Yelp
Took my 9yr old granddaughter on a factory tour this morning. Best tour in town! Inspiring history and fascinating learning experience. Our tour guide, Emily, was fabulous! Added bonus, online registration process is so simple.

Tabitha F.

Yelp
The factory tour is a great - inexpensive day trip to do with the kids! Tuesdays-Thursdays you can head over for the factory tour. It was $2 for me and $1 per each kid. However, we received a dollar off coupon per each dollar spent towards any candy you purchase. So ultimately, its free as long as you spend a buck in the shop. The tour - was an elevated catwalk that overlooked each part of the candy making/packaging process. It was super cool to see the machines in action, oozing chocolate! The employees looked happy as they worked; I guess who could frown surrounded by that much chocolate. The history of the business was pretty interesting - family business. They have 13 shoppes that sell their candies. They contract for larger businesses too. Samples at the end (along with the coupons you got earlier) put you in the mood to buy some more as the tour ends in the gift shop. I brought home choc. covered marsh mellows, truffles, caramels, buckeyes and rock candy. Only spent six bucks and some change - much less than I would have spent at Chocoholique. Love me some sweet treats!

Yelp
You've been driving down 270 and witnessed their large pink bunny atop their building. The location's no mystery-sign says Anthony Thomas. What is a mystery is what's inside that building. Chocolate. Milk chocolate, dark chocolate, sugar-free chocolate, chocolate covered fruit, Buckeyes, bulk candy and more. All this can be bought in the store found inside that huge bunny building. All this can be experienced though a factory tour, which, I haven't taken yet, but will. I mean, why not? I stopped in for the first time to see if they had anything for Easter. If-pssh. If, he says. They had EVERYTHING you could need for Easter baskets. Jelly Beans (including Spice and Black), molded hollow bunnies, solid bunnies and lambs, a giant $300 solid bunny for photo ops (and for purchase), colorful rock sugar candy and chocolate covered creme eggs. A flavor that stood out was the Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel. What's great is that they had sugar-free Easter themed candy, which provides a fun option for those who can't enjoy sugar. Finding the shop can get a little tricky. It's not hard, but not as easy as it is spotting it from 270. My best suggestion is to Map It and keep your eyes open for what Morgan D included in her photos. The area is a little industrial and there's a good amount of parking but I'm sure it gets full during their candy sales. Looking forward to Valentine's.

Yelp
I had a day off on a Thursday, and brought my 4-yr-old granddaughter here for a tour. It was pretty cool. The lady leading the tour knew her stuff. We went upstairs to look down onto the floor as she explained the processes and we watched the workers handling the candy on the machines and conveyors. Interesting stuff. At the end of the tour, you get a buckeye, and the tour fee ($2 for adults and $1 for children) is applied toward your purchase. They have lots of chocolate and candy to choose from in the showroom. It's a great way to spend an hour.

Yelp
After driving past Cocoa Manor near Goodale Park seven thousand times, I decided it was time to try Anthony Thomas Candy. I went to the Arlingate facility several times before actually gaining access (please note their business hours), but once I got into the candy shoppe and that nose tingling chocolate scent overtook me, my frustrations dissipated. I wandered from table to table, admiring the special Christmas chocolates, baby shower and wedding chocolates, thank you and get well chocolates, boxed chocolates, display case chocolates, marked-down Halloween candies, and a giant buckeye weighing over 200lbs and costing about $3,500. Yowza! I inquired about the big buckeye, and was disappointed to find out that it's solid milk chocolate, no peanut butter. I grabbed a bag of Cherry Sours and hit the display case to handpick a small variety of candies. I got a chocolate graham, one raspberry and one lemon cream, two buckeyes, two caramels, two cherry cordials, two crunches, a chocolate covered orange peel, and a coconut flake to be split between myself and Greg. I tried to memorize what everything looked like as it went into the box; one of my biggest pet peeves about boxed chocolates is you never know what you're about to bite into. Right, Forest? I have to admit that I'm not one for oranges, but the lady behind the counter suggested it, and I like trying new things, so I bought in. The orange peel was actually really good. It was chewy and fresh. I liked it a lot. I also loved the chocolate graham and the caramel candy. The raspberry cream was strange. It had seeds in it, and I didn't like the flavor. The buckeye was smooth and creamy. The other candies are waiting to be devoured. I also broke into the Cherry Sours. They are delicious. I could easily eat the entire bag in one sitting. They have a crystallized sugar coating on the outside, and a chewy jelly-bean like center. They just slightly sour. Cost per unit was totally reasonable. Oh, on the way out of the store, I was also offered a chocolate buckeye pretzel. It's basically one of those peanut butter filled pretzel nuggets dipped in chocolate. If you like salty-sweet as much as I do, try a bag of these. They were yummy and reminded me a bit of that homemade puppy chow Chex mix candy.

Yelp
We stopped to get a few things for a raffle basket and boy were we impressed! The candy clerks were helpful and attentive! We were shown where to find things. We were encouraged to take our time and to look around. By the end, I had what I needed for the raffle basket and a few other gifts! This was a great experience!

Yelp
Ya, ya, Easter is over - but now is a great time to go to A.T.s to stock up on 50% off molded chocolate novelties, bunnies, and half priced filled Easter eggs. The chocolate is much better than your typical Hershey bar or cooking chocolate and tastes great. I also like to melt the bunnies down for chocolate fondue, or to grate over a chocolate cream pie or some homemade tiramisu. You can exorcise demons by chopping the bunnies and adding the chopped bunnies to your favorite chocolate chip or oatmeal cookie recipe. At this point why shop before Easter if you want the same goodies the day after at 50% off? Tell the kids that the Easter Bunny is offering Carte Blanche on the day after Easter, direct from his factory.... As of this morning, there were still lots of molded bunnies and filled Easter eggs with peanut butter, butter cream, chocolate fudge, and fruit and nuts. Try the area stores as well.....

Yelp
The tour was really cool. watching how chocolate and other candies are made was very fun for us. At $2 per adult and $1 for kids you can use your ticket as a coupon after the tour for a dollar off whatever you purchase in their store. we made out pretty good when it came to buying some chocolate goodness

Nate M.

Yelp
Touring this factory from the glass encased catwalks that go all through the production area, it felt like living an episode of How It's Made, Unwrapped, or Factory Made. The candy itself was melt in your mouth heaven. It's up there with Godiva. This is a great day out with your kids or a personal munchie raid. I took off a point though for the exorbitantly expensive prices. It kinda takes some of the fun out of it for you unless money is no object.

C. N.

Yelp
This was a fun choclate factory tour that kids will really enjoy. My kids are big fans of the show 'How It's Made' & the tour let them see up front the machines that crank out all the chocolate. You also get a buckeye at the end of the tour which was a bonus! Being from out of town, I had never heard of Anthony Thomas before but I am now a fan. Their chocolate is so creamy and I love the variety of chocolates and other types of candy they had in the gift shop. We picked up some chocolate covered pretzel rods that were a perfect combination of sweet & salty, toffee covered chocolate squares and the most flavorful salt water taffy I've ever had. Prices were reasonable also.

Yelp
We Went here for my son's birthday and the Tour Guide Sally was incredibly rude we were rushed to join another tour that had already started never told anything then when i got hot and took my coat off I was holding my clearly locked phone and was berated about how could the other lady have let me up here when I'm taking pictures. absolutely unbelievably rude. I emailed the company and still no response. Editing my review to say they did respond and apologized for the bad experience which was all i wanted. I appreciate them hearing my concerns we will get them another chance in the future

Holly H.

Yelp
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! I placed an order to be shipped, and 3 weeks later the company was still lying to me about when it would go out. And of course, it never did. Absolutely ridiculous.

Raeanne W.

Yelp
Very interesting and lots of fun! And they give you a sample Buckeye. Yum!

Ronee B.

Yelp
Tours! Awesome experience. The hubby and me had a day off work so we headed down to Columbus. The factory has a gift shop, and there you can buy a ticket for a tour. The ticket can then be used toward the purchase of chocolate. Yummy! This place makes Buckeyes as well as chocolate holiday items for larger famous companies. The tour is great. Very educational. I'm a nerd and loved it. I ended up buying so much chocolate and candy it was insane. Great if you have school aged kids for sure. Highly recommend if you are in Columbus!

Becky M.

Yelp
I have loved Anthony Thomas as long as I can remember! There are endless choices of chocolates and other goodies! Whenever I get anything from Anthony Thomas', it's truly and special treat!!! There is no better tasting chocolate anywhere that I have tasted that can come close to being as delicious as their chocolate!!!

Felecia M.

Yelp
Great customer service from the staff at Anthony-Thomas. We sold out of our Relay for Life candy bars faster than expected and had people asking for more, so we had to place a last minute order and we received them the very next day. It was great to come home the next day and have the candy bars ready to sell. I would definitely recommend ordering from this company.

Julie H.

Yelp
i have never reviewed anything on line in my 32 years but i really feel Anthony Thomas chocolate valentine collection really deserves to be credited for the delicious and abundance of chocolates that are in the box. Thank you so much for making my valentines so yummy.
