Anthony's Bar and Grill

I grew up here and had no idea this place was around. Great hole in the wall spot and the food was incredible. We tried the wings, the pretzel and I ordered the special for the day. The special was a salmon and shrimp served over risotto. I look forward to making this a regular stop.

Anthony's a great place to relax & watch sports. Unfortunately, today I ordered blackened rockfish to go. The fish wasn't seasoned at all, dry, & hard. I ended up throwing it in the trash. I'll continue to go here, but will never order the blackened rockfish again. It was terrible.

What a find! Were looking for somewhere to take our teenage daughters for a bite and stumbled upon this place. Great range of food, not expensive and a real 'tavern' atmosphere. There were sports on TVs, a bar in the corner and even a dart board! Server was friendly and helped us out when there was a problem. Don't go here for a quiet meal, this is an honest-to-goodness family friendly sports bar restaurant! And to top it off there was a hard core cornhole competition outside that was entertaining and kept us watching due to the skill of the players. Everyone has a great time and we would totally come back here again.

The service was very slow, considering there were only 2 other tables that had customers. Unfortunately, the 2 other tables had toddlers with them. I am not sure why people take kids to a bar for dinner. The food was ok but not great. They also charge a 3% fee for using a credit card.

This place is great. Danny, our server, was attentive and really fun. Decent food. Fun, local atmosphere. Only knocked a star off due to the food taking just a hair too long to arrive. I would definitely go again. Decent prices!

It's what you would expect for a bar and grill located in a strip mall in Calvert County. Staff was pleasant but the bar was average.

I had never been to Anthony's bar-and-grill, but the food was great. The service was great. The person who assisted in taking my order let me know that the menu would be changing in the next few weeks to update for the spring summer season. Which will give me an opportunity to go back... Not much of a family restaurant, very dive bar-ish.

Our takeout experience was easy, friendly and very quick. Most importantly, my family enjoyed the food 😊

Service is always good, food is always changing but I don't mind that at all it's all pretty good. Music and dj nights are fun, love the shrimp nights too but my Only complaint is they don't cycle out different types of beer . They've had the troegs brand beer in there for a while and I'm not a fan of it and there's not many other options except your average coors or miller or you can pay 10$ a beer for a Guinness which is outrageous . Other than avoiding the Guinness and the troegs Anthony's is awesome

We walked in and the staff who was suppose to sit people was clearly socializing...so I decided to seat myself where I was abruptly told not to sit down then explained we'd been waiting long enough. When finally offered a seat, we were not allowed to sit at the high top even though on previous occasions we had...with that we left. The wait staff was not well groomed which contributed to our decision to leave.

I went today. All regulars at the bar. They should upgrade their wine list to at least have one Sweet Wine. I think they cater to the regulars but a new person may not want the old people dry wines. Everyone has Moscato these days.

Overall the experience was great. The people were nice and the service was quick but the food wasn't impressive to me. The hot wings were cooked well as in the chicken was done but they didn't have enough sauce. The BBQ might have been good on a sandwich but not as a eat alone. The macaroni was very soupy and could have been better on flavor as well. Bar environment where I'm sure they have regulars. Cool little bar tho

I have been only three times during the daytime and believe this is a hidden gem. The place is clean and filled with chill customers. The staff is really attentive to my severe food allergies. Not only offering suggestions but crafting me a twist on a dish to brighten my day. I will not reveal what it was because everyone would beg for it to be on the menu. Mmmmm yum!. I like the humored crew behind the bar and the sense of community. I'm sure it gets wild at night, looks like lots of fun. Robust calendar of events, I see no reason to not give 5 stars!

Local hole in the wall with charm and good food. Like a classic old TV show, they remember your name, while providing service with a Southern Maryland charm.

I was confronted at the front door that I couldn't bring in my Starbucks coffee to finish. I had maybe a 1/4 cup to finish. I offered to finish it before sitting but was told I'd have to drink it outside. My friend took it back to my car for me. The waitress then asked what I would want to drink??? The food was decent and filling. Fish and chips for me, cheeseburger for my friend. Nothing special. Not the best environment but not terrible; just unattractive and not inviting.

Good menu with good specials. Try the Orange Crush. Crab balls were perfectly spiced.

This would be a really great place to come eat if you didn't have to walk through all the smokers sitting on the front walkway sitting in chairs and leaning on the post office mail boxes. The poor people that have to get there mail and have to smell the nasty smell walking down the sidewalk. Now I understand why the people in the new shopping center didn't want them in it. The food is good buttermilk chicken is great the salads are big and very good. The service has been good each time we were there Clean up the nasty smell you would have had a 4 star.

Went here for breakfast one morning. Nick was dealing with morning sickness, so she didn't have the best time. G had the Biscuits and Gravy and I had the Egg and Cheese Sammy. There Breakfast Potatoes were delicious. Definitely the best part of their breakfast meals. My Egg and Cheese Sammy was okay, a little bland, and I had to ask for some hot sauce to help spice it up a bit. G really liked the Steak and Eggs and their Biscuits and Gravy. Nick didn't mind their food, but because of the morning sickness, she had to rush to the bathroom and couldn't eat. I would like to say it was weird that they bathrooms aren't by each other. The Men's Bathroom is on the Bar side, and the Ladies Bathroom is on the other side of the establishment. The services was decent. The waitress was nice, but towards the end of our meal when we tried paying she disappeared for a moment. We ended up waiting for longer than we wanted so that was kind of a buzz kill to the morning. We felt we were on a schedule, but we were being held up. Overall, I'd go back, maybe try other things on the menu, it was cheap, and a decent quality of food. G said the Steak and Eggs were so good, he wanted to go back again another day to get them again. I would recommend this place to people because of the cheap prices, and the 'hole in the wall' feel.

Fun local place with great food and great service. They feature changing specials throughout the week.

WE LOVE ANTHONYS!!! Great for a fun night out. Karaoke, dancing, darts and cornhole. Perfect for family dinner and trivia. The food is always good. Service is always great. The staff and owners make everyone feel like family. Great little neighborhood bar. But so much more!!! I have never had a bad time at Anthony's.

Responding to the owners comments : I am not "looking for problems" I am just being honest ..not the only person who feels this was as my family who lives there and used to go there a lot says the food is not as good as it used to be. The chicken was very dry and flavorless , the quesadilla bland ..it is what it is ...my cousin used to get that sandwich a lot and recommended it because she liked it ...but noticed it was dry and bland the last few times she had it ...could be your cooks...it's bar food , I get it ..

I had their hangover burger tonight. It was cooked perfectly and the egg on top was exactly how I asked for it. The staff is always friendly with my daughter. Solid food and great wings!

This is our new favorite spot in Dunkirk. Super fun atmosphere. Always packed. Family friendly (until 10 PM) Trivia on Thursday's is fun and the weekend brunch is amazing. One of the best corned beef hash I have had. Prices are very reasonable. Definitely a community favorite.

Great staff, tasty food. We always have a good time gathering at Anthony's. Bar is stocked nice and haven't had a bad drink yet.

Basic bar food. Super friendly service. If you're looking for fancy, look elsewhere. I like their fries.

Slightly disappointed... During this crazy time it's easy to get frustrated sitting at home (with your kids) so sometimes a nice drink sounds great. Yesterday was one of those days so I drove to Anthony's and ordered the Tito's Madras. While the service was quick and "contactless", the drink itself was a huge letdown. I would not have been surprised if they put no alcohol in my drink so I basically paid ten dollars for juice. What a bummer. Maybe it was a fluke, maybe I'm just an alcoholic that couldn't taste minimal alcohol - who knows.... I sure hope after this is over we're still allowed to drive up and buy drinks - the convenience is awesome!

Every single thing I have ordered from this place is amazing! Their ranch dressing is definitely made in house and would be delicious on ice cream! Their atomic bls are the perfect lunch food and their fries are always served hot. I love the feel of the restaurant, very quant little place not too big and the bar tenders are the sweetest! Whenever calling for a pick up order they are always so sweet and know exactly how to answer any questions or let you know about any new items or promos they may be having for the day or week. I recommend this place 100 times over

This is my local bar, and Charlene and the crew never disappoint! The drink specials are on point, and the food is to die for. It is small, but makes up for it in personality and a good home County feel. The Old Bay wings are the best around, and you have to try the Bossman pork sandwich, the fried green beans, and the meatloaf! This is a homegrown bar operated by true locals...You will always feel at home here! Try the specials, and St. Pattys Day? Forgetaboutit! The Blarney rolls will knock your Irish socks off! That, combined with great bands and DJs...It's a win/win!

Went there the first time Monday. Pissed I just found this place and I've lived down here for almost 8 years. Definitely found my new spot with great food, atmosphere and service was top notch! Highly recommend.

Anthony's has great food, big portions and not over priced. I have never left disappointed on any of our visits. We've taken our kids there for an early dinner a few times too and they always love it! The wings are amazing, best in the county by far! And the ranch is to die for, for all the ranch lovers out there who hate bottled ranch!

I'm not from here but my husband is... they have a good selection of food and drinks and a lot of events. The staff is pretty friendly but when there is a large crowd and you aren't from this area you might as well be invisible. It just depends what day you go. I have never seen so many people wearing so many different types of camo.

We have only been there twice but we will be back as much as possible. Such good, quality food! We had the boss man pork sandwich, club, meatball sandwich, Reuben, my son loves the boneless buffalo wings, and my other son loved the kids chicken tenders meal. My favorite so far is the meatball sandwich! When I go back I want to try the burger, but that sandwich was soooooo good.

Great place for food and drinks. Most people think that "bar food" is disgusting but this place actually takes the time and makes the food above and beyond what most bars serve.

This is a go to week day lunch spot for a quick date with my husband. We love their specials and menu. Always good service and reminds of a place we used to go to all the time in Ohio. Their breakfast is delicious. We brought our kids in for breakfast a few times and no complaints. We love patronizing local spots especially when food and service are great! Rockfish bites, cauliflower bites, wings, burgers all so delicious! It's a bar so expect bar food with specials but decent amount of food!!

Went for breakfast on a Sunday and waited 1 hour for our food. Flavor was good but breakfast should Never take an hour. Not giving up on them though, we will try again.

We went on a Wednesday night which is dart league night so it was loud and full of intense players. Our waitress Jessica was awesome!!! Attentive and very friendly. We had the spicy fried green beans which were excellent. The Old Bay wings were very good. The steak and cheese was average and the onion rings were good. I did get dirty silverware which they changed out right away. We will go back on a different night and have the fried green beans and wings again.

I've been coming to anthonys since the new management. I've participated in the many fundraisers the owner has put on for local fire departments as well as the annual breast cancer awareness fundraiser. I've met many friends, as well as my boyfriend here. I've eaten almost everything on their old and new menu and have absolutely no complaints. Food always comes out at a decent time and always tastes delicious! I love seeing what new weekly specials are on the menu because they are always delicious and well crafted. I wouldn't even be able to tell you what my favorite item is, because there are too many to count. I've participated in both the Monday and Wednesday night dart leagues and love coming to watch friends do karaoke or having fun on Thursday night trivia night! The staff is always attentive and friendly and have become great friends over the years. I have never been overcharged for anything. The owner knows how to run her business! She backs her employees 100% when they are in the right (mostly when there are cameras to back up their stories) and she makes up for any mistakes made always. I come here to hangout or even for family dinners. This is the true definition of an"second home" where you come in and are treated like family, and you always feel welcome. This small town locally owned business is a shining example of what we should have more of in Calvert. The owner takes pride in her business as she continues to keep things interesting with new fundraisers, bands, activities and continues to be involved with the community. Plus the military/police/EMT discount just goes to show how proud she is of our local heroes who come to dine. Great food. They just started breakfast and it's the only place in Dunkirk to have a relaxing morning meal! They have a bunch of fun things to do--darts, jukebox, checkers on the table, etc. During the day, this is not a bar vibe. It's a place to come and enjoy yourself and eat a good meal.

I had part of my Bachlorette weekend at the Ladies night here with DJ Ray. I communicated with the manager months before my party. They were very accomidating & even made the night 80's themed which I had set for my party! It was so much fun and our server was very sweet & kept up with our drinks & was very fast and attentive! There was also a gentleman that kept our area clean and cleared glassware & plates and made sure we had all we needed! I will be recommemding this place to ALL my friends and again DJ Ray you were awesome!!! Thank you for the managment team for the decorations too!!! I had a wonderful night

Service and food was great! Our waitress was excellent; very friendly and knowledgeable. I love the atmosphere, as it's kind of divey but still has a great menu. It would definitely be a fun place to watch games on TV.

Excellent place and a nice local watering hole nestled in the heart of historic downtown Dunkirk. While small in size, Anthony's Bar & Grill (also called Tony's) packs a glorious punch and supplies upper Calvert county with excellent food, great music, and many smiles per square inch. The owner is very accommodating and will welcome you by first name after you've visited her establishment several days in a row. Friday and Saturday is when the night life really cranks at Tony's. Live music, active dance floor, and cold drinks supply a great time for local adventure seekers. Here you will find excellent beers such as Michelob Ultra and Coors light. Whether you are catching a football game or seeking Mrs. Right, Tonys is the place for you!

I started coming back here about 6 months ago. In that time, I've become a regular. Also in that time, I've seen regulars being treated differently. They get cut off way too frequently. Some come back once and a while, or some stop cominging back all together. Why are you going to treat your regular customers like that? That's just bad business. On a normal night, this place was packed by 5 or 6. Now, it's almost empty. Wonder why??? Chasing away your regulars. JUST PLAIN STUPID!!!!! The food here is always good. The entertainment is somewhat decent. Stop in once in a while, your good. Become a regular, BAD move! Plenty of other places to frequent that appreciate your business.

Cool bar to hangout at, but some of the staff is so rude. Courtney only is nice to the males and gives an attitude to females. She was disrespectful and threw my credit card back at me. This is not good customer service at all.

I've been coming to Anthony's since before the owner-change. I love everything about the bar. The food is better than 98% of the other bars I've been to. The bartenders are some of the nicest people I've met, and they have some form of entertainment/specials just about every night of the week. I'll continue to give them may business as long as they'll let me.

Food was terrible, and took 40 minutes to get. My girlfriends fries were cold. My fries were hot, but had a fish taste to them and they seem to maybe had freezer burn prior to being fried. I had the cheesesteak, and my GF had the club, both were well below par. Waitress was hit and miss, but the hostess was very nice and checked on us more than the waitress did.

First off, their kitchen closes at 9pm during the week? That is awful. However, their cream of crab is as good as I have ever had!

Loving the changes that have been made since the new owners took over. New menu with a nice mix of pub food and fresh cooking-- and a good variety of craft beer, SCORE! Nice place to catch live music on Fridays or just chill through the week. I'm a big fan of Tuesday nights, when they put out the house recipe BBQ dishes. Definitely try the boneless rib sandwich! This place will be a regular stop for me.

Just ok. AYCE Shrimp on Tuesday. This is a good spot to grab lunch on a weekend bike ride. They are truly biker friendly which adds an extra star for me. Burgers are huge. Owner is very cool.

Five stars for the great staff, tremendous support of first responders, military and cancer fund raising. Their happy hour specials and diverse evening activities, including DJs and live music is great. Food was better than average pub fair. Great atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

The menu of this place is intriguing....not your typical bar fare. However, my wife and I have been here several different times and have not found a seat and had to leave. It seems like it's filled with regulars who are more interested in drinking than eating. If the owner is more interested in running a bar than a grill, that's fine, just don't try to pass it off as a place to eat. Maybe there should be a dine-in section separate from the bar section, so the people not ordering food and nursing their beer are not taking up table space from people who actually want to eat.
