I have loved this Anthropologie since before it even opened. Driving through North Hills during its construction just to check on the progress for when I wouldn't have to drive to Durham every time I wanted to pop in. I'll be honest, I am not what they would consider a big spender (I love a good sale) but I am a long time loyal customer who probably has dropped quite a bit in the 15+ years I've been shopping the brand all over the country.
I have been following the slow decline of this location for a while and it breaks my heart. They have made quite a few poor business decisions over the last few years and unfortunately this is the end of my time visiting this location. They recently promoted a new manager who in no way compares the previous one. Any time I would go in the past I was always met with smiles and assistance (even if they couldn't do anything to help me they were always kind). Now I feel like a criminal every time I walk in. Met with eye rolls, no greeting, and when I recently asked a question I was met with contempt and when I expressed my concerns I received an apathetic, 'Okay.' Which was such a bizarre answer - I couldn't tell if she didn't understand me or even worse didn't care. They also recently decided to devote 1/2 of their store to bridal 6 mo after a small affordable bridal dress shop opened up next door - not real subtle. Now half of their store is inaccessible without an appointent - replete with a little sales bouncer to keep out the non--bridal riff raff. They don't have separate dressing rooms for the brides so if you're not there for that you feel like a second class citizen. Also, I'm sure the brides would appreciate (and they deserve) to have their own place where they can have space to try on with friends and family, drink Champaign, and celebrate. This stores current set up doesn't serve either clientele and it honestly looks like mass confusion most of the time - both groups deserve better! Surely, they can understand that alienating your bread and butter clients in favor of a one time bridal experience will not bode well for your future bottom line. I know that retail is always on an ebb and flow and honestly I enjoy the brand so I hope they see the consequences of these decisions and take the steps to corse correct. Until then, spend the extra :30 to go over to the Southpoint location - where the staff and selection is amazing!
