Google
The boss was so kind he put the chair to eat comfortably. My family was satisfied. I ate the medium size with yogurt and strawberry flavor which is 3.9 euro. The price was very reasonable. I recommend it !!

Google
Gelato, gelato, gelato! Perfect place serving awesome stuff. I must emphasise that the guy giving ice-cream to us was, is, has been a master at his craft. The way he explained details of ice-cream to us was breathtaking. It is a must to visit this place.

Google
Wow, amazing! As a gelato connoisseur, do not go here unless you want to be disappointed by all other gelato stops on your trip! Unique flavors and authentic gelato made in the back! I ordered the banana and bacio (and recommend adding peanut - wow!!)!!

Mike Tazzeo

Google
As we had just got here from San Gimignano, we wanted to compare gelatos. This place, in our opinion, was much better. As the lines were smaller and the service much more personalized, this helped us to try a few flavours and make more of an ‘unrushed’ choice. We settled on a dark chocolate and coconut in one, and a strawberry and mango in the other. Wow, fresh and flavourful. They also have small benches set up out front. Highly recommended.

Google
All the flavors of the ice cream are gluten free and also the cups, very tasty!

Google
The gelato is soft and delicious with pistachio ice cream being my favourite and tasting like real pistachios👍 The owner is very friendly and the prices are very reasonable too. Overall this is a must try and I will definitely come back again🙂

Ilona Bodnar

Google
The gelato is amazing - sweet, but not too sweet, flavorful, and soft. The woman behind the counter was very kind. Highly recommend their dark chocolate flavor. €4 for a fairly large, 3 flavor cup, which is a fair price in this part of the city.

Google
As a gluten free traveler, this fresh homemade Gelato had be returning twice a day. Definitely the best we had throughout our 3 weeks in Italy

Lisa B.

Yelp
A lovely gelato freshly made in the traditional way. Staff was friendly and explained the selections (in English, thank you so much for that) and we loved our selections. Vegan flavors were available as well.

Yelp
Our first gelato in Florence. did NOt disappoint! Had dinner at ZaZa but saved room for gelato. Guy working behind the counter was not friendly. Almost rude. Super annoyed that we had to ask what the flavors were. WellX when the tags are all in Italian.... Having said that, they have some amazing unique recipes. The matcha was legit. Nothing artificial about it. My foodie teen said the ambrosia was "so complicated with its layering of flavors". (Had to ask this one too, Yogurt honey and cinammon, I think this is when he started getting annoyed with me!) you really get the cinnamon at the end, but in a good way. Dulcet de leche, cream and caffe also on point Would happily return if homey ain't working lol

suzy d.

Yelp
Delicious! A wide variety of flavors. A small, setup outside where you could enjoy your gelato and people watch.

Yelp
So far (only one day) we have been VERY disappointed with Florence's food offerings compared to Rome. So bad I am wondering why we came here for cooking class :(. Oh dear! On a bright note - this place is AWESOME - wide selection of flavors, crisp waffle cones (always seemed soggy in Rome) and overall the BEST gelato we have tried on this trip to Italy. Definitely 2 thumbs up. Service great and the prices are extremely reasonable especially with the big scoops they serve. Definitely 5 Stars - definitely the best so far! I have to admit that the gelato at our local pub in the UK (the Bulls Head in Repton) remains my favorite (but their chef was trained in Italy and makes it fresh daily)

Yelp
Homemade gelato using old techniques in the heart of Florence, Italy seems like a totally obvious 5-star Yelp destination ... and, actually, Antica Gelateria Fiorentina is. Finding the delightful Cuor di Pardula flavor made me swoon. I think it translates to "Magic with Pixie Dust" or, possibly, "Cream with Ricotta" and carries a hint of zing thanks to Orange and Lemon Zest. It's real and it's spectacular. A pair of modern beloved flavors completed our three-scoop cone. The first was Matcha (Green Tea) that didn't shy away from the wonderful bitterness of green tea. A creamier and sweeter choice was classic Stracciatella (Milk gelato with chocolate shavings). Ya, it was a special Florentine gelato cone thanks to a trio of distinct and devilish flavors. But, honestly, who doesn't love Italian gelato? How could I not give five colorful heart emojis for Antica Gelateria Fiorentina. Thanks for the quick service, creamy classic flavors and one dreamy new discovery.

Rachel M.

Yelp
This gelato was very tasty! I came here a couple of times during my stay in Florence and was able to try a few flavors. The first visit I had the flavor of orange, lemon zest and ricotta and it was really unique! Later I tried the pineapple cardamom flavor and was I intrigued with every bite. I was a combination of flavors that I've never really had before and I loved it. The third time I had the almond flavor and it was still good but I feel like their more unique flavors are better than their more simple ones. A great little shop and a great location. Right by the Medici chapel and close to some great restaurants so you can pop in after dinner

Josh N.

Yelp
One of the best gelato's I've come across in my time in Italy. This was a nice find as we were just killing some time and stumbled on this place. Keep up the good work, gluten free and dark chocolate, killing it!!

Theresa L.

Yelp
You can definitely find better gelato elsewhere - the flavors I got were too sweet that it hurt my throat and the texture was not very good.

Cat C.

Yelp
1.5 Euro for the smallest but still generous size gelato?! Hell yeah! Got gelato here our last night in Italy. The guy working the counter was friendly and there was a good assortment of standard and unique flavors. The texture was creamy like gelato should be but I think our flavors could have stood out a little more. 3.5ish but rounded up due to cheapness, flavors and having other items on the menu besides just gelato and sorbets.

Shelley C.

Yelp
Good gelato, friendly staff, and cheapest I've seen yet in Italy! The small is only 1,60 euro. Had the matcha and biscotti flavors which were both good. Matcha was the perfect level of matcha, not too strong or artificial flavored which can happen easily with matcha. Biscotti was very bold in flavor! The man working even asked if we wanted to sample flavors before we ordered which I had not experienced in Italy either which was nice. I've come back here 2 more times and had the straccetelia and ambrosia which were both absolutely delicious! Seriously loved the ambrosia gelato.

Art V.

Yelp
Recommended by our driver as the best in Florence, did not disappoint. I had the hazelnut chocolate and the mango both were wonderful.

Yoojin S.

Yelp
Stumbled upon here getting lost in Florence, but I'm so glad I ran in to here. A good cup or cone of delicious, rich gelato will only set you back 2 euros and it is absolutely a steal. I had the "extra black" cioccolato--intensely rich dark chocolate. And nocciola (hazelnut) which was also heaven on a scoop as well. *Edit after a month in Florence and trying a lot of gelaterias: I love this place. Probably my favorite gelateria in Florence? I love that they nail their classic flavors as well as unique ones. And the fact that they have matcha and peanut butter chocolate wins it over for me too--matcha and PB, two foods that are harder to find here that were my staple back at home!

Doc B.

Yelp
Very friendly staff, which always improves the flavor. There is a clear sense of pride in the product. The gelato itself is great, with really intense "Enkey" dark chocolate and the usual flavors, as well as some innovative ones. I wish I could have gone there more times. You only live once. Enjoy something really delicious when you get a chance.

Trish W.

Yelp
Enjoyed both the Baci and coffee gelati as well as the chat I had with the gentleman owner who scooped. He showed me trays of berries from the kitchen that he said were from the local market. Also appreciated the very reasonable price-I think it was $2 euro for a small.

Heliana M.

Yelp
We visited the Duomo on Sept 2015, had lunch nearby and then we headed home and this place was on the way. We gave it a try and it's a cute cozy little gelateria on a narrow street with few seating outside. Ice cream is really nice. Everyone was friendly, we ordered a coffee for my mom from the restaurant opposite and they were super friendly to bring the coffee and an extra chair :)

Don A.

Yelp
This is the best gelato we have had during our time in Italy. We only have a half day left in Florence tomorrow and we're going to have to go back again before leaving. The location is conveniently close to the Mercato Centrale and only about a five minute walk from the train station, but this gelato is worth a trip from pretty much anywhere in Florence. Try the lemon if you like your gelato super tart!

Pebble S.

Yelp
wow, €1 gelato in florence centro?. ... wait €1 gelato in florence that tastes great ??? HoLY WoW !! I came across this gelateria almost by accident, but when I saw the poster for Matcha (japanese tea) flavor gelato on the door, I had to stick my head in to see if it was for real. Then I saw the price . . . €1 for a small cone, Ok what the heck, i'll give it a try. . Not bad, Antica Gelateria Fiorentina, not bad at all . . . the cool part is, they give you a decent portion for a small size and the even cooler part is the gelato was good. I loved the matcha gelato and the chocolate wasn't bad either. There was a flavor called 'persiana', which I was told was made with rose water .... hmm .. that's unique. I will have to give it a try next time. ... hmm rose flavor gelato, I wonder if it would be like eating perfume ?

Lisa W.

Yelp
Gelato!!! Definitely not good for mango. Their mango flavor tasted like soap. But they had good strawberry and vanilla... Had a variety of choices. Other flavors like strawberry and vanilla was good.

Rochelle B.

Yelp
Yes yes yes! Everything a gelato shop should be. Friendly worker behind the counter who let me try a bunch of flavors, delicious creamy texture, and a great price -- 1.50 euro for a small (but very solid-sized) scoop on a waffle cone. Note: you can mix and match up to 3 flavors per cone. Really enjoyed the super dark chocolate and the hazelnut chocolate. All the creamy flavors are on point and decadent. Dulce de Leche is fantastic. Can't go wrong!

Alicia L.

Yelp
Of all the places in Italy, this is my favorite gelato! Oh my gosh it was so good. The texture, consistency, and flavor were so well done. We even tried the worlds best gelato place in San gimignano and it wasn't as good as this!! They have great flavors like talentisimmo, cookies, ambrosia, hazelnut, saffron, etc. YOU NEED TO COME HERE IT'S WORTH THE DIABETES

Nick P.

Yelp
Great flavors good atmosphere. The selections were great. I had the Baccio, the Coco and the Ciocollato on a cone. Very creamy. We sat on the benches outside and enjoyed our Gelato while reading the history of Gelato in Florence and people watched. Reasonable and friendly service. We will be back!

Becky J.

Yelp
I was so excited to try this gelateria as it was right by our apartment, competitively priced and had great reviews, so we went on our last day in Florence before catching a train out. Unfortunately some mystery findings within the gelato made it questionable and a disappointing last gelato experience. The pistachio and hazelnut flavours were really good and flavourful, comparable to other top gelaterias in the city. My mistake was also adding a scoop of matcha to the mix. I love matcha and it's readily available in my hometown in various forms, so I was curious to try a European take on it. The flavour was a bit dull but not bad. However, on three separate occasions within my singular matcha scoop, I found some black bits using the tiny plastic spoon provided. The first time I wasn't sure what it was, but I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and just threw away those small parts. However, after inspecting two more black bits, I'm fairly sure they either belonged to some type of eyelashes, or more likely an insect. There was a very distinct insect wing pattern on the third incident that I captured with a photo. Despite the tasty affordable gelato, the contaminated matcha really was hard to stomach. It was likely a unique incident that I'm sure isn't too common but as the last gelato stop after a string of great finds, this was disappointing. Would recommend trying pistachio or hazelnut if you do come - perhaps no matcha...

Nick F.

Yelp
Awesome gelato! I had the dark chocolate and she had the banana. Probably the best we had in Italy. The staff were friendly and gave us all the tastes we wanted. Big serving size for under 3€ each.

Caitlin G.

Yelp
5 stars all the way! Such delicious gelato! I even had to buy an I gelato Tshirt. The matcha flavors gelato winds the best tasting award.

Emily T.

Yelp
Popped in while on via faenza. Went with the amareno which is a different flavor for me, so not my favorite but good nonetheless. Can't beat the €1.50 price for the smallest size, which is honestly the perfect size in my opinion! Plus they offer like 5 different sizes in both cones and cups. I'll be back to try more! Update: I go here far too often! I love the Ambrosio flavor. They've got some nice flavor variety that you won't see elsewhere, like that and matcha. Not the best gelato I've ever eaten, but convenient, cheap, and definitely yummy.

Rosa A.

Yelp
Sorry there are no pictures to show since we ate our gelato right away. The gelato was creamy and flavorful. The straciatella had so many chips in it and it was delicious. The baccio was a new discovery for us and it was heavenly. The price was just right and the server was charismatic and attentive. We will be back, best gelato in Florence, we know, we ate it all.

Tiffany B.

Yelp
Amazing gelato at amazing prices! I've been to Florence twice and this is my go to spot. When I went to school in Florence (Lorenzo De Medici- down the block) we went here to see how gelato is made. The location is great and not far from the Duomo either.

Rachel A.

Yelp
Antica Gelateria Fiorentina was so good we ended up going twice, two days in a row. The first time was by default as the restaurant across the street had run out of tiramisu. So off we went to the gelateria to indulge in crepes and two scoops of biscottino and stracciatella. The crepe was fluffy and golden, rich with egg. The filling was Nutella, nothing out of the ordinary but the crepe as a whole was really good and eaten from a paper cone. The gelato was fantastic- biscottino tasting like buttery cookies and the stracciatella a reliable vanilla base with flecks of chocolate. Francesco, the owner, was super nice and chatted with us a little about our trip. I sampled the cioccolato (Antica Gelateria Fiorentina's most popular flavor) and arachidi, cioccolato (peanut butter chocolate). Those were heavy and sweet. "Buon Viaggio!" Franceso wished us as we left. The next evening, we returned after a lackluster last meal. What a surprise! Francesco remembered us and greeted us with a big smile. Again, we got a crepe but this time gelato in cones rather than a cup. I can't express how much of a deal gelato is in Italy. For the small sizes, it costs anywhere from 1 Euro to 2 Euro. We tried bacio (chocolate hazelnut) and fragola (strawberry). My mother was also craving green tea flavor. When Francesco heard this, he gave us complimentary matcha mousse. It was smooth and creamy. The matcha flavor was prominent. Antica Gelateria Fiorentina keeps four different types of mousse flavors in rotation. It's very popular amongst the Japanese exchange students. We chatted about our origins and a little about the company history. Good people run this gelateria. It has heart. Not only loved by tourists and exchange students, Antica Gelateria Fiorentina is the local's favorite. When we were shopping in the flea market, one of the vendors heard us mention gelato. They then enthusiastically pointed in the direction of Antica Gelateria Fiorentina and bragged about the cheap gelato. Apparently, people go ga ga when they hear about this gelateria. I don't blame them. Quelli erano pesanti e dolci. "Buon Viaggio!" Francesco ci ha voluto come abbiamo lasciato.

Tiffany H.

Yelp
Excellent gelato, molto bene!!!! The extra dark chocolate is amazing. I also had with the blackberry flavor was good too!: you can also taste a flavor before you choose!!

Nicole D.

Yelp
Very delicious spot to stop. They have a great variety of flavors and good prices. Their chocolate is so decadent and rich and their cherry was magnificent.

Mike V.

Yelp
Friendly service, outstanding creamy gelato, variety of flavors...what more can you ask? I'll be back very soon

Tram L.

Yelp
The best gelateria we had in Florence, and we stayed here for one month! I would honestly say we came here about 12-15 times during our stay. You just can't beat the price of gelato for 1 euro, and they make it here in small batches, truly artisan-style. Their Fragola (strawberries) was my daughter's favorite, and the man there said they use fresh strawberries for it when it's available. Their cioccolatto was a deep rich chocolate, and their pistachio was not overly sweet and tasted like what it was supposed to be. Buontalenti, kind of like a crema, or vanilla, was another favorite. If you're around, I would strongly suggest you come here! Our mistake one day, when we went to another gelateria, was when my 2-year-old had a couple bites and looked sad but didn't complain. She just said, "All done." We were so sad for her, and immediately went back here. She squealed when she saw this place, immediately ordering "pink!" (Fragola) and "white!" (Buontalenti). :)

Margot G.

Yelp
I am not sure why everyone has given this place such great reviews. It is located right around he corner from my hotel, so I headed over a few nights ago and to my surprise, it was CLOSED! at 8:00pm on a Wednesday! Even though the hours stated they are open until 10pm. I decided to try again the next day, and it was not worth the hype. I had a small cup of caffe and stracitella-- which was a bit watery, and not at all what ali would expect from reading the reviews. The server at the counter rolled her eyes at me when I walked in (probably assuming I am some annoying American-- little does she know I speak Italian fluently)

Kimberly G.

Yelp
Amazing!! One of my favorite gelato shops in all of Italy! Definitely worth stopping by. Cash only

Jackk Y.

Yelp
Best and cheapest gelato in town and possible all of Italy! Hard to beat the 1euro cone gelato anywhere that is as tasty as here. Stop by here every day during our stay in Florence and pretty much tasted all the flavors. Service was friendly, there's always table to sit down at and free wifi also!

Victor M.

Yelp
Great place best in Italy I have tasted highly recommend great price............................

Phyllis E.

Yelp
Artigianal, made-on-the premises. Only Grom and Carrara (oltrarno) come close! Cozy friendly shop, really tasty and some unusual flavors like Matcha green tea and other sntique recipes. Still very reasonable prices but no longer one euro, but still the best buy in town. We have spent months in Florence, sampling dozens of gelaterie and this is still the best!

Jessica F.

Yelp
Awesome gelato! The staff could be a bit (a lot actually) more friendlier, but the delicious gelato made up for it.

Rachel S.

Yelp
This place sucked, service was awful and very rude. Plus I don't think it was very good, it was average quality but expensive. I really see no reason to ever go back to this place. There are so many other Gelato places to go to other than this in Florence. I would recommend going to any other one than this.

Laurel C.

Yelp
€1.50 for small size (cup or cone, no difference), and it's a good portion size. Very close to San Lorenzo Market and Medici Chapel. Good selection of flavors, I tried the Persian (rosewater) and Baccio. Both delicious!

Lauren M.

Yelp
This THE WORST gelato experience in ALL of Italy. The staff was rude, nasty and unwelcoming to my friends and I. To top off the awful customer service this gelato was the worst quality and flavor I've ever had. So grainy, yuck. Threw it away after one bite. NEVER go there. It's a waste of your money and your time.

Diane T.

Yelp
I couldn't leave Florence without having some gelato, but I didn't want to settle for the neon-colored mounds that you see around all the tourist sites. I'm glad I waited to try Antica. I had the crema..simple and fresh cream taste, the biscotti which had nice little cookie chunks in it and a flavor that that tasted like cherries in liquor in vanilla gelato. Absolutely fantastic

Michelle M.

Yelp
Great gelato and the sweetest worker here :) This is the cheapest gelato in town as well, as other places charge double for theirs. I recommend Antica for a great value without sacrificing taste.

Barbara M.

Yelp
A wonderfully different gelato shop. The owners add a few surprising flavors inspired by owner Francesco's home region of Sardinia and/or his wife's home ancestry in Romania. Favorites of mine were: Cuor di Pardula (lemon and orange peel, saffron and ricotta de Sardono) Talentisimo (hazelnut and chocolate w/ Buontal and 3 milks) and Bacio (chocolate with hazelnut). Be it a traditional flavor or one that has a special twist, be assured that each treat from this family run business is infused with love. Visited three times in three days! Yuminisimo!

Priyanka S.

Yelp
Excellent flavored, home made gelatos... best of Florence. Try their rose water 'Persiano'. You will not go wrong if rose flavor is your thing.

Kara P.

Yelp
dessert: the gelato was pretty good. although slightly too sweet, the flavors were really good!!! service: super nice older gentleman helped us :) final thoughts: cheapest gelato in town!

h d.

Yelp
Aaah!!! So good, so reasonably priced, so nice. Very creamy. The guy serving gelato was very friendly and remembered previous orders. Also allowed us to sample a few flavors. We went back several times. Places to sit outside and relax. Attracts big crowds at times, but worth the wait.

Christopher E.

Yelp
Seriously the best, rivals Grom but cozier and less tourists. Really nice staff and interesting flavors, try this place and people watch the travels and students sauntering down this little side street.
