This was such a unique hotel. We stayed for two nights before flying home after completing 2 weeks traveling in various cities. At first, the concept can feel strange as you go into a beautiful apartment building and walk up one flight to the reception area. But the staff is very attentive and willing to help you with luggage. We stayed behind the reception area in a very spacious room with high ceilings and a unique layout. It was great to have a couch to relax on after exploring. There were also books in our room. It felt like home. The staff is very kind and will advise you as needed. The breakfast was the best! Fresh squeezed orange juice, delicious croissants and made to order eggs. They also had a delicious carrot cake one day that we can’t stop talking about. The breakfast lady couldn’t do enough for you. True European hospitality! The location is excellent and walkable to the shopping and Duomo. So happy with our choice and highly recommend for a unique experience!

This was very different from what we expected (not in a good way). I do see a few recent reviews that sound like our experience. The room smelled like a bathroom. We opened all the windows and it never got better. The bed is the hardest mattress I’ve ever had. I actually checked that it was a mattress and not a block of wood with a sheet over it. Pillows are old and flat. It was really uncomfortable and my back hurts. The walls are very thin - we could hear a tv show clearly through the wall and every step/bump in the room above us. ||It’s an old building with some residential and some hotel rooms. I’m not sure it’s floor by floor - I had thought there would be a clear hotel area and a clear apartment area. When you walk in, it’s not obvious where to go - eventually we walked up a narrow dark staircase and found a lobby area on the second floor. It felt more like an Airbnb than a hotel.||The 2 positives are that the staff were very kind, and the location is good for sightseeing. 5 min walk to the duomo.

It is important to understand this and the previous 2 reviews. This isn’t a normal hotel, it is accessed via a common lobby and staircase all undecorated so it feels very derelict. Also no real lifts / very small and claustrophobic so it is a staircase climb with bags. The room we had was basically a large room with a bed in the middle / no side tables so phone charging adjacent not possible. The bed had a strange rail on one side at the top which meant you couldn’t get out without shuffling to the bottom of the bed or hopping over. The staff were disinterested - at least our manager on a Sunday night - we asked for robes - with bad grace one was brought and we had to ask for another. So be aware this isn’t a hotel more of an Airbnb. You need to be fit and mobile to get up and in the rooms and the hotel staff and quality is poor.

The room we stayed in felt more like a warm Italian home than a hotel room. Its location in the heart of the city and yet being so quiet was perfect. The room was warm, comfortable, and clean, making us feel right at home.

I was a bit doubtful after reading reviews but my room was lovely, simple but clean with a beautiful large terrace with twinkling lights and flowers. The hotel was a bit tricky to find but that was the whole charm of it —going through a small door within a larger door (?) the entryway being a giant hall with stairs, the tiny one person elevator haha it was a cute alice in wonderland esque experience. The concierge was lovely and we had to leave super early in the morning so they gave us slices of warm apple bread pudding it was delicious. Will be back!

Must stay if you are going to Milan! The staff were excellent. We had a room with a beautiful Terrance, perfect for a quiet night drinking wine and watching movie after exploring the city. We stayed for seven days and it made our trip to Milan very memorable.

Wow so disappointing. This is not actually a hotel. No elevator to reception area. No street level entrance. You go into a residential building and search for this place. Bed was a board (as mentioned in other reviews). No headboard so your pillow is up against the window or up against one of very few outlets (so if you charge your phone overnight be prepared to be propped up against your charger). Sofa was poor quality and had a white sheet draped over it. Can’t believe this had a positive rating. Would not recommend.

I booked this hotel for the Labor Day weekend based on your reviews. We even upgraded to a suite thinking that it would give us more room and more luxury. What a joke! Everything is old and dirty. There is not a piece of furniture in this room that is fit to sit on much less sleep on. We do not have a balcony and we are looking out over an alley with a truck parked in it all night. There is not, a working elevator, so if you have mobility issues, you’re out of luck. Plan on climbing a few sets of stairs. I typically do not complain, but you have this listed as a 4 1/2 star hotel. We’ve just come from Como and Portofino and so I know cleanliness ( but old) when I see it. This place is old, ( acceptable) but also dirty and ratty. I’m very dissatisfied Trip Advisor…. You steered me wrong this time…

Yelp
We just returned from a 6 night stay at the Locanda. The location was perfect and it was so easy to walk to all favorite locations. The hotel staff, mainly Eri and Alex could not have been better. They were not only informative and helpful, but also caring and efficient. They feel like friends and we have received a lovely email thanking us for our stay from Alex who saved the day by getting "Last Supper" tickets at the last minute as my husband missed our tour. We were given a beautiful room by Eri whom I called before we arrived. She was so accommodating and the room was superb!... A beautiful suite. When there was noise above us from a lady with hard soled shoes on the wooden floor, Eri went right up , explained the problem and it was immediately rectified. The server, Maria, was wonderful. We highly recommend this treasure of a hotel .

Yelp
did not honor reservation First it is a quaint hotel in a good location. although, getting your luggage up to the 3rd floor lobby is not any easy task. an ancient 2 person-no luggage sized elevator can be a trying experience with no bell hop. However, they did not honor my reservation for a smoking room. so if you truly have a preference watch out. they then tried to put me in an inferior worn looking non-smoking room and told me to put my head out the window to smoke. imagine paying good money for what you thought was a smoking room and being told to put your head out the window. i asked for another room. they then wanted me to pay extra for their Terrace room ( which is sparse but very nice) so i could sit on the terrace to smoke. i finally agreed only to have them force me out of that room 10 minutes later. after a wait they deposited me in an unfinished small room with dry wall dust on the floor, a dark blocked-in court yard view with contractors working outside my door in a building 2 doors or more down... making me drag my luggage everywhere. It was not a pleasant comfortable room so i checked out early to be told that i had to pay cash for the room that i booked with a credit card. after much discussion, the Locanda agreed to take my card for payment, but get this, tried to charge me a credit card use fee!! what is this a gas station? So if you want your reservation and room request honored this is not the hotel for you. i found a much nicer hotel for less money in a better location.
