23 Best Hotels in Florence

"Tornabuoni is a medieval tower in the very heart of Florence, within five minutes' walking distance of the Duomo, Piazza della Signoria, and Ponte Vecchio. Renovated rooms give classical Tuscan design an update without abandonining tradition. You'll find hand-painted walls, restored parquet floors, rich pops of color, lovely brocades, modern four-poster beds, and, perhaps best of all, great views over one of Italy's most picturesque cities. Buffet breakfast is served on the sixth-floor terrace, which has a gorgeous view, and includes the usual—cereal, yogurt, fruit, pastries—plus grilled vegetables, quiches, eggs, and bruschetta. The Tower, the hotel's restaurant, is a popular spot for destination weddings. The view alone is worth it, but the top-quality service and style are an added bonus." - Nicky Swallow, Erica Firpo

Antica Torre di Via Tornabuoni 1

"Set the scene for us—what's this place like? Tornabuoni is a medieval tower in the very heart of Florence, within five minutes' walking distance of the Duomo, Piazza della Signoria, and Ponte Vecchio. Nice. Who are you likely to see staying here? Savvy travel couples, and girlfriend getaways. How's the arrival process? Check-in is easy and personal, and the tech features are great. The good stuff: Tell us about your room. Renovated rooms give classical Tuscan design an update without abandoning tradition. You'll find hand-painted walls, restored parquet floors, rich pops of color, lovely brocades, modern four-poster beds, and, perhaps best of all, great views. Keep going—what else stands out among the amenities? The Wi-Fi is free; amenities include organic beauty products by Osme. Another fun perk: Rooms have DVD players; you can borrow DVDs from the reception desk. That's fun! How about the food—any good options on site? Buffet breakfast is served on the sixth-floor terrace, which has a gorgeous view, and includes the usual—cereal, yogurt, fruit, pastries—plus grilled vegetables, quiches, eggs, and bruschetta. The Tower, the hotel's restaurant, is a popular spot for destination weddings. What else stands out about the hotel? This hotel offers incredible views over one of Italy's most picturesque cities. Bottom line: Why would you recommend this hotel? The view alone is worth it, but the top-quality service and style are an added bonus." - Erica Firpo

We stayed in nine different hotels throughout Italy, and Antica Torre was the lowest price with the highest value. We booked a library junior suite and requested a river view. The room exceeded our expectations. Enclosed shower, separate wardrobe closets, big bathroom, fantastic view. The staff was great and breakfast was tasty. We also enjoyed a spritz on the roof. Great location, central to everything. *Tip: We had a noise machine and earplugs with us. Without it, we would have heard noise from the street below at night.

Florence was the best way to start our Italian vacation, and staying at Antica Torre di Via Tornabuoni 1 was the right choice. Our stay was short, only two nights, so this location was perfect for visiting all the attractions on our list easily and on foot. Amazing shopping and restaurants are within steps of your medieval front door, as is the beautiful Arno River. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our room and then Antonella took the time to show us up to the rooftop bar and terrace. The historic vibe, comfortable room and the hospitality shown by the staff was terrific. But the icing on the dreamy Antica Torre cake is the amazing views from the two rooftop terraces. You won't be disappointed.

Located at the end of the Trinity bridge one away from the Ponte del Vecchio right on the Arno river, you can not beat this hotel for location. The rooms are all different and cozy and wonderful. Private and quiet. The roof top bar is spectacular and they serve great drinks and minimal but tasty food. Beautiful breakfast array. Front desk managers first rate. Two nights they obtained excellent dinner reservations for us on short notice (we ate early so you can usually get lucky, by 8:00 you are probably out of luck). You can get to everything from here in a short and flat walk. Very nice staff all around.

There was a bottle of prosecco to welcome us and attentive service during our four- night stay. The location couldn’t be better. We were able to easily walk to all the sights and museums on our wish list. The rooftop terrace was a special treat with excellent views all around. Comfortable beds. The breakfast each morning was hearty and good. We would stay here again.

Antica Torre is a historic hotel centrally located in Old Florence. You can walk to all the major sites and museums from the hotel. We had a room with a view of the Duomo! The staff was very helpful and welcoming. They booked a taxi for us and made restaurant recommendations that made our stay very pleasant. The decor of the hotel and the roof top bar were very unique and fit into the ambiance of Old Florence. We highly recommend this hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Antica Torre. From the moment we arrived to the end of our stay we felt very welcomed and appreciated by the hotel staff. We stayed in two rooms, each very spacious and well appointed. Florence was very hot when we visited, however, our rooms were well air conditioned and served as nice respites when taking a break from sight-seeing. The hotel also is really well located - close enough to the main sites but just enough away to not be in the middle of the crowds. It also has a fantastic rooftop with great views in all directions. Will definitely be staying here again during our next visit to Florence.

Our stay here was simply perfect! From the moment we checked in until our departure, everything was fantastic. Marco, who checked us in, showed us to our room and then to the restaurant and then the roof top terrace. He was so friendly and made sure our stay was great. Each night we could watch the sunset from the roof and enjoy incredible cocktails made by the friendliest bar staff. They truly made our honeymoon stay here perfect; we can't wait to visit again.

Google
We loved this hotel. The staff, like receptionist Mika and rooftop bartender Daria (?), were so welcoming and friendly. The rooms are gorgeous. Beautiful windows, opening up to stunning views and one-of-a-kind painted walls. The room was large enough for 2 travelers and the beds were very comfortable. It was quiet, clean, and well maintained. The staff did a morning refresh both days while we were out exploring (cleaning and refilling the minibar), and prepared the room every evening (drawing the blackout curtains and providing slippers and cookies). There is a stunning rooftop bar with panoramic views of the city, which is only for hotel guests, so it felt like a private terrace. It was in a nice part of town with high end shopping. Perfectly central location between the train station, river, and tourist attractions. It was far enough away from all of these parts of town to feel quiet and safe, but close enough to get anywhere with a short walk. Overall this was a wonderful experience, and we would recommend to anyone staying in Florence.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel near several main attractions in Florence. Our room was on the 6th floor which was perfect for access to the terrace bar and breakfast terrace. This was the most comfortable bed and pillows I have slept on in our time in Italy. Our room was spacious and we had a window that overlooked the Arno. I loved that you could see the old beams in the ceiling. The views from the breakfast and bar terraces were stunning. We got beautiful pics of the Duomo, including one next to a rainbow as it rained on and off during our time in Florence. The bar terrace even had shawls on the back of chairs to wrap around your shoulders and keep away the chill. We went up there and played cards one afternoon and it was quiet and relaxing. Service was excellent. We often pointed at a restaurant name and asked them to make reservations for us. One night, the places we asked for were full, so we just asked them to choose something for us. They recommended an excellent restaurant which was only about 400ft from the hotel. The place was extremely busy so I can't help but think they squeezed us in because of the hotel's call. We loved our stay here!

Yelp
This is a 4.5 rating and I highly recommend this hotel if you will be in Florence. The staff was accommodating and helpful and the location was perfect. My husband and I had planned a trip to Italy for September 2020. I purchased a pre-paid, nonrefundable room at Antica Torre Tornabuoni in late 2019 because there was no reason we wouldn't go on the trip, so why not save a little bit of money? Hello COVID-19. I was resigned to losing my money, but figured it couldn't hurt to reach out to the hotel and ask if they would change our reservation to 2021. I emailed the hotel and immediately heard back from the hotel manager, who was gracious and happy to accommodate. We stayed in Florence at two different points in our trip, so I had two separate reservations, each for a Grand Deluxe room. I didn't realize there are only two of these rooms at the hotel and each has a private terrace. Room 503 was a touch smaller, but had a slightly larger terrace with a view of the Duomo. Room 502 was enormous with a slightly smaller terrace with a view of "old" Florence. Both rooms were absolutely worth it. The hotel is located in medieval towers. When you step through the front door, you aren't sure what you are getting into. You do not immediately see the reception desk. Keep going to the end of the entry, past the elevator, and you come to a small reception. The reception staff are welcoming, friendly, and helpful. We were checked in and the manager showed us how to use the fob attached to our key to make the elevator work. (Later in our stays, the reception staff were extremely helpful as they held our luggage, gave us umbrellas, and reserved us an early-morning taxi.) We were very happy with our rooms, as I mentioned. They were comfortable, had the amenities we needed, and there is a book in the room with lots of history and local recommendations. The breakfast room was easy to access from the 5th floor where our rooms were located. Due to COVID-19, there were friendly staff members wearing gloves and masks who served you what items you wanted from the buffet. There is seating outside and inside. The hotel also has a large terrace open to all of its guests with wonderful views of the city. It is especially beautiful to see the city lit up at night. The hotel is located one bridge down from the Ponte Vecchio. it was easy to walk everywhere we wanted to go and easy to navigate to and from the hotel. So, why 4.5 stars instead of 5 if this hotel is so perfect and I would stay there again? With a medieval building, things happen. There was a sulfer smell in one of our bathrooms that seemed to be emanating from the bidet. The main elevator broke down during our stay, so we had to use the very slow and ancient one by reception. Neither of these things were horrible, but they weren't ideal. That said, I can't imagine a better place to stay in Florence--location, comfort, views, atmosphere; the Antica Torre Tornabuoni has it all.

Yelp
Superb Scenery, Well Decorated, Spacious Rooms! For a romantic destination, Hotel Antica di via tourbni is what I'd recommend for any couple. What influenced my decision was its superior and spacious room accommodations. Good hygiene is observed all the time. You will be treated to a marvelous view of the Arno River. The room ceilings are quite high and decorated wonderfully. The hotel is found on a strategic location in Florence with the famous streets and superb scenery. You will be woken up to the best breakfast you haven't had in years. Among the delicacies that you will enjoy for breakfast are various cheeses, scrambled eggs, bacon, pastries, cookies, yogurt vegetable creations, cereals, and fruit. The diner has an alluring setting that is also elegant. Rooftop bars and restaurants are also great selling points for this hotel. The staff was very welcoming and offered services to our satisfaction. Highly recommend for first timers visiting Florence.

Yelp
This is a boutique hotel located in the heart of Florence's historical center on via tornabuoni ( the street with high-end shopping and right in front of the Ferragamo museum). This structure itself I learned was a midieval tower and has a really romantic feel to it. The rooms are nicely decorated and cozy and the best part of the hotel is the roofside terrace. It's absolutely massive and has a 360 view of the city, I found out one of the photos from their terrace actually won some terrace contest in the city called 'terrazza aperta". The breakfast area is in the enclosed area of the terrace and is a pretty wide buffet. The staff is friendly and very knowledgable of the area. You can walk to all of the major attractions from the hotel itself and it's location close to the arno makes it easy to find no matter where you are. I recommend bringing an awesome camera and taking some pictures of bella firenze from their terrace and sipping a cockail at an angle not many get to see.

Yelp
My wife and i go to Italy each year. I speak Italian. And we have been going to Antica Torre for years and years. This is a great great hotel, in absolutely the best location a Firenze, the morning breakfast is outrageously great, the views from the balconies are the best a Firenze, absolutely, and the staff are folks you want to take home with you as family. I can't sing praises high enough for Antica Torre. And will be there in Dec, for Xmas wonders. A blessing!

Yelp
Great location on the river and walking distance to major sites. Our deluxe room was upgraded to large suite (king bed, ac) without a view but very quiet. The view from the rooftop during breakfast made up for this. Excellent breakfast. Rooftop terrace serence place to hang out.

Yelp
Amazing view. Florence is my favorite of all my traveling. Booked a room here online and i was aware of the price, but as usual Italian hotel staff treats English speaking guests with extra respect by doubling other services. I understand very well Italian but they were not aware of the fact. Waiter made inappropriate comments in his Southern Italian Dialect about an an American couple. He basically said to his coworker: These stupid Americans, dont know the difference between a hamburger and Florentine steak., even though the American couple tip him more than anyone else... Disgusted from this episode, still hotel was amazing, If you visit Florence this hotel is perfect because of the location and view.. I am sure you will enjoy it. Just save your money and eat in Tratorias which you can find everywhere around this hotel.

Yelp
Gorgeous hotel. Room is huge and bathroom is even bigger. Breakfast spread has good variety and baked goods are amazing. Great view from the terrace and wonderful staff. They have complimentary coffee and tea all day.

Yelp
"NOT CUSTOMER FOCUSED" 2 of 5 starsReviewed 1 week ago We had only one night stay and one day to enjoy this beautiful city. Unfortunately, while the property plays up 13th century charm, there is nothing charming about being kept up all night by revelers on the street due to lack of effective noise cancelling insulation. Our room was small and felt vintage. The sewage truck comes by to empty out the tanks around 4am for about 40 mins. We did not sleep a wink and it colored our view of the hotel. We paid around $350.00 USD for the experience; I spoke with hotel staff who were very unsympathetic when I asked about the possibility of receiving some sort of break on the rate. When I wrote to the hotel manager, he basically said that was part of the experience of staying in an ancient city. Of course, we will never return but I wanted to put this out there for readers who need some assurance of quiet when sleeping. We were in Room 405. I also felt compelled to send this out because of the lack of concern one felt when bring the situation to the attention of the current hotel manager. Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, select another property. See more room tips Green Features: Don't know of any environmental program, the plumbing and shower don't work well. Stayed October 2015, traveled as a couple http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g187895-d262542-r321970485-Antica_Torre_di_Via_Tornabuoni-Florence_Tuscany.html#

Yelp
* We were lucky enough to spend three days in Florence during our honeymoon. We were even luckier to stay at this hotel. The rooms were very nice, especially considering the hotel used to be a medieval tower. The staff was amazing; they were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable about where to eat and great at providing directions. What truly sets this hotel apart from most is the view. The roof top terrace has spectacular views of the Duomo. Simply breathtaking.
