There's something magical about this island that I can't quite put into words – it just gets under your skin in the best way possible. I spent a week there with my daughter, and honestly? It was pure bliss from start to finish.
We kept things simple – grabbed an Airbnb, rented a car, and just let the island guide us from beach to beach. One of our favorite adventures was exploring the history and soaking up the vibes at Shirley Heights on a Sunday (highly recommend!). We beach-hopped our way around and fell head over heels for Ffryes Beach and Fort James Beach – each one more stunning than the last. And the food? Don't even get me started. Everything we ate was simply incredible.
Going in May turned out to be perfect timing. No cruise ships meant we practically had the island to ourselves – so peaceful and unhurried. But what really made the trip special was the people. Everyone we met was genuinely warm and welcoming, the kind of hospitality that makes you feel like you're visiting old friends.
Now, if you go, you MUST take a day trip to Barbuda. I'm not exaggerating when I say the beaches there are otherworldly. Some things you just have to see to believe, and Barbuda's beaches are one of them.
I loved it so much that I've already declared to my daughter she's getting married there someday. Manifesting it as we speak!
Trust me – just go. You won't regret it.
