Antigua Capilla Boutique Bed and Breakfast

I honestly cannot say enough about this special property. It’s a rare gem in a sea of subpar options. The location is perfect - a little removed from the action but close enough - so that you benefit from the views of their stunning roof terrace and the quiet that comes from being up on the hill - but you are close enough that you can pop down easily for dinner on the square. The rooms are absolutely stunning - the couple built the property with great care - staying true to the Spanish colonial architecture that the area is known for. They are spacious, well appointed and each unique. Mornings start with a full breakfast and as much delicious cafe as you’d like - Antonieta is there daily for a chat - she’s a bevy of information and a true delight. Her husband Francisco greeted us upon arrival and the initial tour of the property was so fun and welcoming - he didn't miss a beat showing us all the perks and amenities of the property and our individual room (aka fireplace!!) I will only be staying here on subsequent visits. I cannot say enough about how special this place is.

A fabulous stay in a stunning location! When I think of my stay here, one things keeps coming to the front of my mind, "Exceptional attention to detail in very aspect!". Location - The location is perfect. It is far enough away from Centro to avoid the hustle and bustle, traffic and the many celebrations and yet just a short walk to all of the excitement and festivities. Property - Absolutely stunning! The rooms were perfectly appointed, the decor was exceptional, the courtyard was amazing and the roof top views were magical. Rooms - Once again, you will immediately notice that careful consideration has gone into every detail. High end fixtures, bedding, towels and decor throughout. Service - Professional, welcoming and everything you could wish for from your hosts. They will assist with food recommendations, travel arrangements, setting up tours and just answering your questions. Antonieta and Francisco are first class! An authentic Mexico experience, with genuine people in a fairytale location, San Miguel de Allende!

Antigua Capilla is a fantastic bed and breakfast! The room was beautiful, the beds comfortable and the fireplace warmed up the room quickly on the cool mornings. We stayed for 4 nights and each day the breakfast was a different Mexican style delicious breakfast. Francisco and Antonieta were wonderful hosts. Their advice on where to go, what to do and where to eat was very helpful and appreciated. We loved the fact that the B&B was located in a quiet part of town, an easy walk down to the city center.

Antigua Capilla was AWESOME! I had tried to schedule a San Miguel de Allende visit for years and something always came up to prevent my ability to go there. Recently my Partner and I were watching YouTube videos on San Miguel and we learned about the Antigua Capilla Boutique B&B. I had a special birthday coming up and going to San Miguel would be a perfect destination. Their website photos were beautiful and accurate but photos cannot convey the actual experience you will have there. The owners, Antonieta and Francisco, are the kindest, warmest, most knowledgable and caring hosts you will EVER experience! I have traveled extensively through Europe, Thailand, and Brazil and have stayed at many remarkable properties but I can honestly say that ANTIGUA CAPILLA IS THE BEST PLACE I HAVE EVER STAYED - the entire property is built, furnished, and maintained with their guests’ comfort in mind. Each morning we were greeted by Antonieta and offered different delicious Mexican specialty breakfasts. We chose to eat in the large courtyard area looking out upon colorful overflowing pots of flowers, a breathtaking multi-story wall of flowers, the 17th century chapel that Antigua Capilla was constructed around and listening to the sounds of their beautiful tiered fountain. Pictures cannot do it justice, you have to go and experience it for yourself!

Our stay at Antigua Capilla was the best travel experience I’ve ever had. The incredible hospitality began the moment we arrived at the airport, where our hosts, Antonieta and Francisco, had arranged for the kindest and most thoughtful driver to meet us. He stood waiting with a sign bearing my name and a warm, welcoming smile. The ride from the airport was filled with engaging conversation and fascinating insights into the history of the region. Our driver, a local, spoke with the knowledge and passion of a professor — a perfect introduction to San Miguel de Allende. Upon arriving at the B&B, the beauty of the place revealed itself at the door. Every inch of the property… from the entryway full of beautiful, fragrant flowers to our perfect room… was so thoughtfully designed to appeal to all the senses. We were warmly greeted by Francisco and immediately made to feel at home. There was no delay in establishing our comfort. As we walked through the space and into the courtyard, where a 17th-century chapel, a peaceful fountain, and lush greenery and flowers created a serene atmosphere — we realized that no description could have prepared us for how truly special this experience would be. I could go on and on about how magical the art and design of Antigua Capilla is, but what impressed us most was the true heart of the space: Antonieta and Francisco. They set the tone for what would be the most comfortable and meaningful visit to a B&B we’ve ever had. Antonieta greeted us each morning at breakfast with a smile and a hug. This was our first time in San Miguel de Allende, and her warm welcome each day provided the emotional and energetic launch for our explorations. The staff also exuded the same kindness and hospitality. It was clear they loved being there, and that energy came through in everything — from the delicious breakfasts to the impeccably clean rooms and common areas. Every inch of the space was curated like an art museum and maintained with the kind of care you’d give a beloved home. Antonieta’s and Francisco’s recommendations ensured that every bite of food and every outing was perfection. If Antonieta said, “Try this dish at this restaurant,” we did — and she was right every time. We were there celebrating my partner’s birthday. Antonieta recommended the restaurant where we celebrated and the bakery and cake we should order… and we couldn’t have asked for a better birthday experience! One of the most special parts of the stay was breakfast, which not only showcased fresh, local flavors but also gave us the chance to connect with our hosts and fellow guests. That feeling of comfort and connection is something we’ll never forget. Antigua Capilla isn’t just a place to stay in SMA. It’s an experience, a cherished memory, and a feeling we’ll carry with us. We can’t wait to return!

A Hidden Gem in San Miguel de Allende – Truly Unforgettable! My husband and I spent 5 nights at Antigua Capilla Bed & Breakfast, and it was so much more than just a place to stay—it was an experience we’ll never forget! From the moment we booked, Antonieta & Francisco made everything seamless, even arranging our airport transportation. When we arrived, we were welcomed like family into their immaculately clean, beautifully designed property. Every detail felt intentional—charming rooms, local touches, and a terrace with one of the best views in San Miguel. What really sets Antigua Capilla apart is the hospitality. Antonieta, Francisco, and their warm staff were incredible hosts—always ready with tips, restaurant suggestions, and even a customized map that became our guidebook for the week. Each morning, the homemade breakfasts were delicious and gave us the chance to meet other guests, swap stories, and form friendships. They even went above and beyond to connect us with Alex, who took us on a private tour of neighborhoods as we explored future residency options. He shared local history and insights that made us fall in love with San Miguel even more. We actually discovered Antigua Capilla through the A&F Beyond YouTube channel, but staying here exceeded even our highest expectations. It’s a true hidden gem (though probably not for long!), and we can’t wait to come back. Antonieta and Francisco are the real deal—gracious, thoughtful, and genuinely passionate about sharing San Miguel. If you’re visiting SMA, do yourself a favor and stay here. You won’t just find accommodations—you’ll find memories, friendships, and a home away from home. Highly recommend. We will absolutely return!

What an incredible experience at Antigua Capilla Boutique BnB! This was my wife and I's first time in the beautiful city of San Miguel de Allende. When we arrived at Antigua Capilla, we were greeted by Francisco. After watching he and his bride Antonieta's YouTube channel, my first thought was he's real! LOL! He showed us our room and gave us a tour of the grounds. He completely made us feel welcomed. He also shared some history of the place and I had no idea it was built around a small chapel built in the 13th or 14th century. The chapel is still preserved! It brought a sense of peace, tranquility and beauty to the place. The rooms are just gorgeous. The attention to every detail was not unnoticed. And the rooftop terrace overlooking the town is absolutely breathtaking. After settling in for the night, we greeted by Antonieta for breakfast the next morning. I was not expecting such savory breakfasts that you can tell was prepared with a lot of love and familial experience. Breakfast every morning with Antonieta and the other special guests were the highlight of our stay. We also were provided a map and city information that gave us a multitude of activity options for the day Even the drivers they recommended customized our tours to address what we were most interested in. However, we did just walked to most of our destinations. Though the cobblestones and hills were a bit challenging (wear comfortable shoes!) the city is safe and mostly walkable if you prepare for it. I could write more and more about this amazing first experience in San Miguel de Allende. From meeting new friends amongst the other guests at the BnB, to exploring with confidence the beauty and people that makes this 'ciudad' , we look forward to our next visit.
