"Named for Talavera de la Reina, the Manchegan town synonymous with fine ceramics since the time of Cervantes, this shop, established in 1904, sells cheerily painted plates, tiles, pitchers, and more. The wares are the real deal, made by true craftsmen—not the chintzy, factory-produced stuff sold as souvenirs. The fourth-generation owners are experts in tracking down faithful reproductions of historical pottery, from the iconic blue-and-white Fajalauza carafes emblazoned with pomegranates to the scalloped-edged Talavera dishes bearing painted horsemen." - Benjamin Kemper

Stopped by this shop to peruse the work of several Spanish artists. Not only does the store have an amazing family history but it has a variety of really interesting works that feel very authentically Spanish. We spent some time with the owner hearing about the shop’s history and his family and we selected a few lovely pieces he packaged up for us. It isn’t an inexpensive store but I was happy to bring home pieces from actual artists and not just replicas made in a factory somewhere. Definitely stop by, even if you don’t purchase anything!

An amazing store! The best place for souvenirs! You can find a huge selection of handmade tiles / ceramics from Spain and though a little pricey, it is well worth it for high quality items with history! The store owner was very nice and as he said, it’s like a little museum in there!

Beautiful pieces here, they aren't super cheap but that's what you should expect from things of this quality made by hand, it's a reflection of the skill and artistry involved. The man we spoke with was very friendly and helpful, and told us about the things we chose, where they came from in Spain and who made them. The whole store is beautiful to look at and there was no pressure to get anything, but of course we got a couple of beautiful ceramics to take home and be treasured for a long time.

Fascinating shop with a wide array of beautiful ceramics. Many items were much more affordable than I imagined. Owner was great and even provided us some really valuable advice on visiting the Alhambra. Highly recommended.

Is this the finest selection of handcrafted ceramics in the city? It has to be. Only a museum collection could possibly compare to the array available and displayed in this shop. Tremendous.

Best shop I could find and I’m very happy with my purchases. I’ve looked around Seville and Madrid for good ceramics and this is the best. I bought three pieces for $180 euros. Most medium sized pieces are $60-90. You need to ring to come in and it’s sort of hidden but it’s worth it to go in. The shop owner was very friendly and he makes it feel like a museum full of art. He’s passionate and has interesting facts. The way to put it is you are buying a classic and not a souvenir. I don’t know that much about art and ceramics, but I believe what I’m writing to likely be true.

Beautiful handmade Spanish ceramic, a family business of four generations. It's like a museum on its own - such a hidden gem in the city!

A great place to buy ceramics. Not far from the central part of old Madrid. They carry ceramics from the main ceramic-producing areas of Spain, including Granada, Valencia, and Talavera de la Reina. They have all shapes, sizes, and prices. We bought these two wonderful pieces and our daughters got some smaller pieces.
