Antiguo Vapor is a quaint, lovely hotel with very attentive, patient, and helpful staff. We had a King room with balcony which overlooked Centro. The location is excellent, it's a short walk to the Alhóndiga, Diego Rivera house, University, and just up the hill from Plaza de La Paz, mercado, Jardín de la Unión, food carts, etc. in the heart of Centro. We would absolutely return and stay here again.||Do note that Guanajuato in general is kind of a noisy town with lots of dogs barking, church bells, singing, etc. – if you're a light sleeper you will probably want to bring earplugs (that applies to anywhere around Centro, not just Antiguo Vapor).

This hotel is truly one in a million. I have never encountered a more accommodating and kind staff at any hotel. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. The rooms were exceptional! We split our time between two rooms due to availability and they were both splendid. The tortulas room has a small balcony that has a spectacular view of the city and AC. That room would be absolutely 100% perfect but it has queen sized bed makes it hard for two people to sleep comfortably. We moved to the Cordonices and that room was also amazing. It has a small balcony with seating that looks into the courtyard of the hotel. It has a king bed and a working fireplace. My only negative with that room was that there was no AC. However, the staff was amazing and gave us a fan which was all we needed. There are not enough words to describe how amazing this place is. ||The location is great! Its within walking distance of everything. Its on a street with many art galleries and great food. There is a great cafe directly across the street and just up the street from a great rooftop restaurant and bar with killer views and cocktails. ||

Excellent hotel in Guanajuato! We stayed for 4 nights. Staff was so friendly and helpful. They arranged transportation for us, offered the best suggestions for restaurants and tours. Our room and the entire hotel was super clean and beautiful. The location was convenient for walking access to the central zone, restaurants, shopping, and many historical attractions. For a city central hotel our nights were relatively quiet in our room facing the inner courtyard! You will hear church bells and passing traffic. We did enjoy the nightly serenade by a passing callejoneada! We would stay here again. Thank you to Ricardo and the the kind employees of Hotel Antigua Vapor!

Booked the best room with the Spa tub, but the hotel forgot turning on the water boiler. No hot water available for our first night, so could not take the bath either shower. They didn’t provide any compensation. Stuff doesn’t speak English. We paid close to 600 USD for 2 nights. Not worth the price. Updates; The hotel’s reply was not very true. The hot water DID NOT come out after 30 mins. but took more like 1.5 hours to get SOME warm water start running (it was still not warm enough to take shower at the first night) since I asked to fix. I Would have appreciated to get the wine as compensation if I was offered at the beginning but not after waiting until past 10:30PM!

Nice hotel in perfect location, great view from our room! The owners are great host. Pretty convenient if you come driving! It has parking space included. The only thing to have in mind if that you have light sleep, close the windows, can be noisy from the street at night.

Loved our stay of two nights and three days. Everyone on staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I felt very welcome and my children enjoyed watching the Mariachi's singing through the streets from the balcony. The Paloma room had a beautiful bathroom with a little spa and hand painted tiles. The best part was how close it was to plazas and museums.

I absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Vapor! The staff were very friendly and immediately helped us unload our car and brought our bags to our rooms. This is one of the few hotels with free parking which is definitely a must if you have a car! The rooms were beautiful and pretty big. There was always plenty of hot water (and the hotel was full while we were there) and the wifi worked for us the whole time. The hotel is within walking distance to many attractions including the town plaza and the Diego Rivera museum. The complimentary breakfast included coffee, fresh squeezed juice, fruit, and fresh baked pastries. Other breakfast food was available for purchase as well. Overall this was an excellent stay and I definitely want to come back!

Four years ago while traveling with friends we stumbled across Antigua Vapor. We enjoyed the place so much we did not even consider staying at a different place when we returned to Guanajuato earlier this month with our wives. The two biggest pluses are the convenient location and the super friendly staff and owner. It’s less than a 5 minute walk to the historical center which which makes for a quieter stay without sacrificing access to the great restaurants and the historical center. ||I read the negative reviews and I would agree the beds are a bit on the hard side (which I consider another plus). Some, but not all, of the rooms require scheduling of hot water service but that is easy enough to do and can be done in advance. The security, historical ambiance and great staff more than make up for these nits.
